I would like to fist bump the coding geek in Android who suggested the google maps integration in dialler.
It's really2 good. Type "pizza hut" & you'll be given the nearest Pizza Hut contact number.

use toolkit to flash 4.4 .. first flash all smooth until i notice my storage only hv 5.66 gb..

advice by super_evil_alien bro to use stock recovery to clear cache and factory reset again.. (in before this i flash twrp)

try flash stock recovery and after toolkit rebooted, it shows the android with a red ! on it.. unable to boot into recovery.. but able to boot into phone.. everything is fine beside storage still show 5.66 and unable to boot in recovery..

pls advise.. thanks
*
The image of Green robot with exclamation mark is the stock recovery.
From there you need to press power button & volume up in order to get to the recovery menu.

Yes,I know this seems messy. But the messy process has a point which Google want to prevent newbies from messing with recovery.

Will i lose root ?
*
Flashing from custom ROM with stock image will nuke the entire system.
You need to reflash SuperSU again which is a easy thing to do.

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Nov 16 2013, 12:08 PM)
I think toolkit will work just in case lost the root.
have you back up your phone if you gone into something wrong? maybe need to wipe data?
*
I do a fresh backup of my device once every month.
But before flashing ROMs usually I'll just go commando without any new backup.

QUOTE(olygopoly @ Nov 16 2013, 12:12 PM)
hurm i think got backup  sweat.gif how to wipe data using adb ? firtst ime using adb. or should i try doing it all over again. BTW im from PA 3.99 with franco kernel
*
I think you just want to flash the userdata.img?
Why not wipe the data partition in recovery before trying adb thing?

I should say that, what the hell of Google Designer doing, swipe from left Google Now, swipe from bottom also Google Now. What The? blink.gif

Something wrong over here. If I'm Larry Page, I'm gonna screw the Head Designer of this new KitKat feature. vmad.gif
*
As I said, that swiping left to launch Google Now gesture is useless in devices which have OTK but it kinda make sense for other devices.
If you have used other OEM's skinned version you'll know almost each of them has their own way of launching Google Now which can be very confusing.
With the GPE launcher (apparently Google never gave it an official name) potentially available for all users in Google Play Google can make the launcher experience consistent and "encourage" users to to use Google Now.

Do u guys facing problem after installing the new launcher where the ringtones always go to silent mode, every time when u click the home button it will ask whether u wanna use the default or new launcher?
*
Yes, I do have the same bug.I think this issue is caused by the Google Search app latest update.
Actually I had the same issue with 4.3 after the search app update.

I partially solved the bug by disabling my other launchers.

Which launchers are you using?

I haven't try GEL yet but it setting it as default launcher doesn't trigger the default launcher picker then something strange is happening.

I hope Google release android 5 in the next release instead of another android 4. How would u guys feel
If google release android 5 but a lot of feature exclusive to nexus 6 only or 5? Hmm
*
For me Android release name & numbering doesn't matter. What matters is the OS refinement & added functions. Android 4.1,4.2,4.3 & 4.4 did improve stuffs.
Eg 4.1 brought Google Now,4.2 brought Project Butter,4.3 looks lame but has a lot under the hood performance & security enhancement & 4.4 brought software optimization.

The different between Android 4.4 version of N4 & N5 isn't much.Main thing is the GEL which you can install manually.

Wah, it shown "downloaded and verified", which mean it is auto download without notifying first?

Low data plan subscriber must be careful, not to exceed the limit, else been charge gao gao by telco....
*
The owner of the device where the screenshot is from already downloaded the update. Android update won't download automatically as far as I know.

Anyway for those who are still whining that your N4 still do not have the OTA update, just sideload it. You just need the zip file & single line of code. Provided you have custom recovery & everything.

weird.. i use to toolkit to root (plus flash custom recovery) my n4 again as i lose the supersu after the ota update this morning..

after i boot to recovery, it shows a android with a ! mark and no command word under it..

p/s: i was trying to flash cwm for recovery..
*
That's the stock recovery. The toolkit probably isn't updated to support the latest update.
1 of the reason why I always tell people to avoid toolkits.

QUOTE(s30ckf @ Nov 22 2013, 03:12 PM)
Thought it is batch by batch... but how they determine by the "batch"? Based on country location, serial number, or other ?
*
Randomized. The update is not geographical based. This was clarified by Googler during the 4.3 update rollout.

QUOTE(sherwyn @ Nov 22 2013, 03:17 PM)
Maybe my nexus 4 was on KRT160 already before the update. It prompts to update and when i press it this was screen shown. Was very fast. I don't think it downloaded 2xxmb file. Shown only 9 mb file in progress.
*
As another forum member said if you're connected to wifi the update might auto download. But for 3G users it should only show to notification & ask user to initiate the download.

I think this was adviced not to be performed, unless you follow up with factory reset.
http://tech2.in.com/news/smartphones/dont-...engineer/921050

Just do sideloading, or wait for proper OTA.
*
In layman's term the clearing framework data breaks the synching services that depends on Google (which are many).

I think few pages back got post regarding Google engineer not recommended to clear cache. IMO just wait patiently for the OTA and if cannot wait can always sideload
*
IMO Playstore cache =/= Framework cache

The Google engineer asked users to avoid clearing framework's cache

The default email app is all sort  funny in kit Kat, have you considered using other email client like K9 mail? Open source too.
*
I use email a lot & the only email app I use is the build in email app. I don't have much issues with the email app.
I see a lot users complain about the build in email app but I don't really understand what's the actual complaints are about.

QUOTE(venmax @ Nov 25 2013, 02:35 PM)
I use the native Email and Exchange for my company email. There are a lot of strict network and security policies to follow in order to load company email in our mobile device, the other third party email app is not an option, it wont work smile.gif
*
Maybe the problem is caused by the your company email server setting things?
Anyone else in your company using Android device and build in email app?

my nexus front screen is cracked.
I read the first page that repair at lg service center cost rm350.
Is it better to let LG service center or some phone repairing shop to repair my nexus 4?
will there be any difference in price?
*
Don't think so. Some shops actually quote higher.
RM350 can be considered a reasonable price for a 720p 4.7" screen.

Did anyone encounter the problem where you connect the phone to PC using USB cable and trying to copy photos and it got errors?

Unfortunately process.android.process.media has stopped

I just bought the phone today! What's wrong with it! I didn't flash anything didn't root. Just got official 4.3 OTA only.
*
Try rebooting and connect the USB cable again. If that doesn't work try changing the MTP mode to PTP.
Android's default MTP transfer method bit wonky.

Hi all,i forgot whether my N4 is rooted or not...but i rmb last update to 4.3.4, it auto unrooted for me...den this morning i saw kitkat update...i clicked happily...den now it stuck on the android robot with exclamation mark...written no command...
I tried adb sideload, but it show me
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted.

Anyone has any idea for this? i need help urgently...
*
So now you cannot boot to the OS?

What you're describing seems like the Android stock recovery.
If you cannot boot to the OS at all I think the best way for you to fix your device is by downloading the factory image & flash everything.

If you can actually boot to the OS you can try to sideload the update file or the superuser.zip by flashing to custom recovery first.

The status 7 error usually happen in CWM Recovery but it seems that you have stock recovery now.

Edit:
It seems some of the OTA update file brick Nexus 4 which are rooted & having CWM. You probably have to flash system.img.

I assume you are beginner? I give you the basic steps to reset your device. But you'll lose all your data in your device.
1st you need to download Nexus 4 factory image from : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus...ges#occamkrt16s
2nd you need to download 7zip
Once you have downloaded 7 zip, unzip the Nexus 4 zip file with 7zip.Need to unzip twice if I'm not mistaken.
Boot your device while pressing power button + volume up. You'll be greeted with giant START words on screen.
Connect your PC & device with USB cable.
From the unzipped file, look for flashall.bat & click it. Your device should be reset to stock image automatically.

Anyone remember how long does it usually takes from a stock to CM 10.1 to boot up. Ive been having the boot up image for nearly 5 minutes
*
Took me around 5 to 10 minutes last time.
Why downgraded to 10.1? I thought 10.2 RC1 available now?
