AX Lightness Vial Evo frameset is cheaper than the 2014 R5. Good enough to be the ultimate climbing machine? Not much reviews I could find on the net though. 660g for the frame weight size 52 drool.gif

Hello.

Thought I would ask if my scenario is possible in real life.

I'm planning to cycle up and descent down genting highlands soon with my MTB. Do I need any special permission to pass through the checkpoint? And what's your kind advice? smile.gif

Yes you need special permission. They don't simply allow you to pass the check points. Put it simply, yea you can't go through the checkpoints. I've tried it before.

you have higher chances of reaching gohtong jaya via ulu yam.. if you start from genting sempah... there might be a chance the guards at genting sempah will stop you already..

oh, and... don't do it on weekends... more likely to be told to go u-turn and go back...
there is no permission lar... u just try to get through the guards and if they let you, they let you go lar... if they don't allow.. then it's a no go....

lol. i meant special permission...maybe from our sports minister or PM tongue.gif

haiyar... that's a no brainer answer lar.. anything short of using a liposuction, PED or burning fat faster with clenbuterol is easily said than done...that's why people choose to knock weight off the bike lar...

if everyone can be a chris froome... you will be seriously very dejected now because you will be constantly left pedaling your bike alone in the middle of nowhere...

climbing is unlike riding flats where you only have the factor of wind to content with and you can choose to hide around... climbing leaves you exposed to all the elements and you are constantly working against something that never lets up... gravity....

and what's the definition of a good climber??? a one tempo ride who can spin effortlessly up a climb, or one that can muscle his way up the climb in a metronomic cadence and heavy gearing or one who is super explosive but can't last a climb that takes longer than 30minutes??

wats worst is when you realize that when you can tickle a small gear up a climb quickly... you cannot respond to searing attacks by your riding buddies... and when you can ride explosively off the front, you don't know how long you can last against your buddies... there is no chain gang like in competition to pace you up and launch you in the last 5K to go lar...

so, just ride within your own limits and stop being a blardy singaporean lar... it's not always a competition... and owning a crazy ass bike has no relation to cycling performance lar... not every ferrari owner is a fernando alonso dude, if you know what i mean...

ps. having strong glutes mean having a big ass butt...

I have birzman zacoo. Really good stuffs. I also have Lezyne floor pump, tiny looking with wooden head. Pretty hard to pump and now a bit faulty after I left it unused for around 4 months.

Now I use topeak Joe blow sports. Hugee pump and easy to replace as parts are available easily. I didn't go for joeblow pro as it's not much difference between pro n the sports.
