depends on which foldie.... most foldies actually use a 55T because the wheel is so small...so, 53T is usually not an issue if you are talking about those who run 2 chainrings....

now foldie also u wanna play??? brompton, tyrell, dr. hon, or tern?

foldies have to use a larger crank because per turn of the crank... their wheel travel a lesser distance compared to a road bike's 700c....

actually... just stay with compact... the 53 won't have that much effect unless you always banzai some descends in penang... flats wise... hardly you can get up to 50 x 11... let alone want to ride a 53...

if you ride flats a lot... it will at least make more sense lar... else, i'd rather have my granny ring for hard days in the saddle...

i dun get to swap cranks and cassettes like the pro riders do.. so, i need wide range of gear ratio selection instead of optimization of ratio jump or more top end speed given the same cadence....

i have 50T x 34T front matched to 11T x 32T back... tell me bout it...
