NGV is only cost-efficient if you're a heavy user. I remember doing this calculation some time back, and unless you hit a certain mileage per year, you won't see much of a difference.

That's assuming the wear and tear on the engine remains the same as using petrol, which isn't true. NGV problems include more frequent gasket replacements, as well as problems relating to the air mixture etc. It's not so cut and dry. I had the same initial thought as you until my dad pointed out all these things that I overlooked.

just buy prius. rm1 = 10km on typical driving like your own fader road on high way (120~140) . if you drive like 65kmh or below, you'd save even more.

dude..my car is fitted with ngv for more than a year..no such things as ur dad mentioned..tuning the air mixture may occur with mixer system, which is easily fix with the right tuner..for sequential system, it's all computerised.. icon_rolleyes.gif

maintenance is just the same like during petrol days..tukar minyak hitam, plug, oil filter..and that's about it really..

im also a user.
- so far within 3 years, no major problem except once, one valve rosak. just one valve. but thats because its a campro. not ngv. or maybe because campro + ngv.
- no gasket problem at all.
- already balik modal in the beginning of second year.
- i fully support if pipu dont like ngv. becoz for not many use, the queue line for filling is only 2-3 cars up till now. brows.gif

No idea what system the car is on since it's not mine. But it is a turn off for me when I drove that car. But maybe technology nowadays is a lot better than last time.

wat's the whole point especially if not heavy user, when the refilling station is very limited!

QUOTE
Energy consumption by the transportation sector accounts for 40% of final energy demand, some 99.4% are met from petroleum products. Natural gas accounts for 0.6%, while electricity a negligible amount. The future outlook of transportation fuel options may not vary much from our current consumption pattern as not many variations could be fathomed yet. Despite efforts to reduce the sector‟s dependence on oil through the promotion of NGV, such efforts are unlikely to make significant headway. The true economic cost of NGV is more than RM 3.10 per litre, making it a more expensive option than petroleum products. PETRONAS currently subsidies retail sales of the fuel, but this may not be feasible in the long-term when gas has to be imported. It would be most refreshing to get electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles on the streets of Malaysia at commercially affordable prices in the future.
