Here's the low down:

I got mine last night from My Gadgets, Ground Floor, Low Yat Plaza, KL @ RM1160! How I bargained was, because Creative is currently running a promotion, which bundles Vision:M with Creative's own HN-505 "Noice-Canceling" Headphones, which is, er.. crap, IMHO. The headphones "costs" RM129, and the bundle price is RM1299.

So I told the My Gadget guy (Kelvin, nice guy), that I have no need the the headphones, so give me good discount based on the value of the headphones la! smile.gif

Anyway, mine is black, currently coupled with Grado Labs SR-60. Will be "inheriting" my cousin's secret headphone amp soon smile.gif

Tranfer rate is outstanding so far (my current MP3 library is about 1.2GB, and took about roughly 2 mins (not scientifically calculated though). Will update all later.

I immediately flashed to firmware version 1.30.02 (as the previous released 1.40.02 was faulty, according to Creative forum @ http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board?board.id=pmc, and an interesting surprise is that, all setting and data was kept! This is my first firmware upgrade of any device that kept everything intact!

Tip: Firmware upgrade requires that the battery to be almost fully charged, as the installer will not allow it if it thinks it's to low <30%.

My only small gripe about the firmware, is maybe the touch strip is more sensative than before, even after I changed the sensativity to Low. Maybe it's my perspiring hands, maybe not tongue.gif

So far so good, a couple of episodes of Lost (HDTV rip), Top Gear <chuckles> and smooth sailing so far. All played without issues.

Will update all when I have more millage on it smile.gif

previously no complain on my part...after having it for about a month plus now i do

firstly, my fm radio just went dead few days ago, previously not using this function usually but tried yesterday, couldnt work...it hang the whole player (when you tried autoscan or scan down etc), it got sound for first 1 sec then its muted when the bar for the radio and mono turns up(not due to the radio frequency as i could hear the radio station for 1 sec and the bar reads full or 1, then when you tried switching presets it will just give you no sound at all) ..well need to go warranty. Another thing is i tried uploading some mtv on to it, some says required to be convert, but after i convert and uploaded it, one gave me a black screen with no option to play, one totally hang my player.

btw mine comes with already presetted firmware version 1.30.02

you will get used to the touch strip after awhile

-edit-
it seems alot of ppl having these issues with radio as well...mine died after 2-3 weeks after the last usage for the radio function(previously was working flawlessly, didnt do anything with firmware or anything) ..try searching for radio problems in creative forums..will see tons of it..all diff thread..in my case..should be firmware bug cos its still working until the status bar and the mono thingy turns up in 1 sec...no point going for warranty yet..as some ppl still having the issues of radio going dead after few months despite changing to new units(got one guy change 5 times and the radio still went dead after a period of time)

khtan2000: sorry to hear about that. I'll cross my finger <tight> smile.gif As for the convertion, did you depend on the Creative software to do it? You might want to consider other <read:reliable> conversion software, e.g. Nero or DivX Pro.

As for the radio problem, did you try going into Recovery Mode and reload the firmware (not updating the firmware from PC, this is a Vision:M standalone function, pls refer to manual for full instruction). Failing that, reloading the firmware from PC is not a bad idea (since you don't lose data:)).

Hope this helps.

Hey guys,

Here is a scary one smile.gif I went to compare do a AB auditioning of EP-480 vs Sennheiser MX500 in MediaPlex at Level 3, KLCC, and I got to eat my own words tongue.gif

I always insists that bundled earphones/cans are crap. But when I listened to Senn MX500, man oh man. Was I disappointed. I had to crank up the volume to level 20, repeated the track, Song 6 - Daniel Powter, and what I got was..totally no bass...nothing at all.. nadda... Mid and high were okey, and it probably did a better job in mids than the EP-480 (which came with my Vision:M), but EP-480 blow it out of the waters in terms of overall performance and bass.

So that's it folks, dun throw away the EP-480. Keep it as as spare (I got my Grado <evil grin>) and stay away from MX500... IMHO

lol..i did everything to recover but still cant including reflashing the firmware...feel there's some bug or some failure as the radio still works...until 1 sec later when the status bar and the mono word turn on (then no matter whats the status bar is 1-3 or anything, no sound will come out again)..dont know what happen as previously the radio function still works...tried yesterday to see whats on radio when i discovered this problem. probably i just wait awhile (until end of this month i hope)to see any new firmware available as i dont see any point of doing rma when the problem recurring after few weeks/months apart from getting new player(from what i see in creative forum) smile.gif

yup, you are right..using the creative bundled software..but now im using other converter to convert...faster than creative's ones.

i feel the ep480 is too big for my ears...sound wise its good but sadly not comfortable. use only one time before getting myself the ep630 instead...just for ear comfort, regarding the bass and stuff...feel like average only

hey guys and gals,

Creative Zen Vision M has a line out port/function so i can bypass internal amp?

I was wondering if anyone tried to hook a portable amp to the player, if so is the lineout signal too strong/loud etc?

LittleGhost: Plenty of documented cases where people hook their portable MP3 players, especially iPods to headamps. Should not be a problem. If really needed to, you can use the Connector, the AV port as line out. You just need to disable video from the menu, and it'll become a line out port.

Khtan I'm currently on my 5th ZVM in a short couple of months, 3 with the exact issue you describe and two with the onf from the Original Poster(fm radio function been totally disabled).
But it is OK because according to Creative support this just does not happen, there is no such issue known to them... Very fustrating I know but the only way out of it is to send it back. If you have it more than 3 months then you arte screwed because there is no issue..it is only you...and me and the 50 others who have reported the issue here.

just got a reply from one of the forumer in creative forum...guess my bad luck then or good luck doh.gif ..can constantly change new player every month until i get the good working ones rclxub.gif or ..until the shop throws me out ..guess will go rma soon(1 more day to a month for my purchase)

my review on the player: navigating through the menu using the touch strip sure takes some effort(or patience)..sometimes tend to overshoot what you select or select the wrong thing. Another thing is only max of 16gB can be allocate to become your removable disc storage drive. Cant set more than that and also to use the drive, first need to go select the player as a drive before connecting it to usb, else the comp wont recognise it as a removable drive. Playing mp3 on this player is a hassle IMHO as somehow im not used to its play function, need to use playlist, if not your music will be jumble up together regardless of folder in one list(or you need to fill in every music file details, like author, genre etc in order to use the play mode option effectively)-also the album art not displayed correctly, if one album art is available for one song and you copy all the songs in that specific folder, the player assumes the album art is for all songs(imagine like having some album art for all the songs in the folder regardless of what author is it). Foremost, for video there is no playlist, finish one video, you need to select another one manually (probably this will be fixed in upcoming firmware update). another thing is the four buttons (back, next, menu, play ) is kinda hard to press due to the design

On the other hand, quite alot of video format is supported, quite alot of function(black light intensity, radio, mic etc). Sound output is quite satisfactory with adjustable EQ.
well, for me, im still satisfied with the creative product apart from the radio function failure

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting.

Johnliew, have you tried amping the ZVM? I'm currently having a headache with line out signals being too strong, resulting very high volumes. Will the ZVM have similar issues?

Could be navigation issue over functions

While Ipod offer more ergonomics controls, Vision M has more functions. ZVM nav does not bad at all wink.gif

anyway, can I be your sister for another free Vision M laugh.gif

perhaps this is the way creative players work...first time i use my micro i have the same feeling too, the touchpad is way too sensitive.

But now, apparently i got the hang of it tongue.gif

ZVM radio failure eh, no biggie for me as I almost never use that function lol ( why the heck do you need radio when you have 30gb worth of songs/movies laugh.gif )

LittleGhost: I will find out for you, suppose to "inherit" a pocketamp from my cousin soon. I guess the result depends on the following (in order)

1. Earphones/headphones impedance- high impedance cans are harder to drive (need more volume), therefore could be a good thing for amp-ed situations e.g. like my Grados smile.gif

2. Amp gain - some amps can switch btwn low and high gain settings, so when you feel it's "over-amped" (if there is such a word tongue.gif), switch it to low gain

3. Player/source volume - for amped situation, always turn off the EQ and the volume shall never be more than 50%.

If all 3 fails, just seem that it a bad combi of everything sad.gif You need to get higher impedance headphones (not earphones) and low gain amp...

Good luck~

Hey guys, about the stripepad, I have learned to feather touch it, instead of like how we are so used in using the notebook touchpad, which we usually put too much pressure on it.

By feather touching it the ZVM, it gets much more easier to control smile.gif Guess it's like any other sensative (read:delicate) stuff huh? tongue.gif

David: Hey, sorry to hear that ZVM did not work for you smile.gif It's all based on personal preference.

2. TV series junkies - this is your's truely... I need to download and run to a train. It supports the mass majority of downloads ...oops, i mean "acquirable sources from the Internet...". iPod needs the dreaded Quicktime conversion, which even highend PCs will take some time.

3. Value for money people - aka me again! - It has microphone, comes with wall charger, (btw, USB charging kills batts), FM radio (yeah, I know, there are reports of the radio hanging)

Ok, my 20 cents worth (no longer 2 cent due to the inflation...)

Ah, i was looking for an informative reply like this. Thank you.

Line outs do not have volume control (refer to bolded quoted sentence). They simply bypass internal amp. So i'm not sure if the way you guys use the amps are correct or not. I thought we should use line outs instead of headphone out? However, i emailed Gary (electric avenues) about the situation and he said there are cases where people prefer headphones out -> amp than line out -> amp because it sounds much better and the latter signal output being too strong and loud.

Anyway, if i lower the gain will it affect the purposes of the amplifier? Otherwise should i make an inline attenuator?

eh, johnliew...is it true the usb charging could kill the battery ? i have been charging my player via usb almost everytime, while using as a external storage disc and uploading songs..

probably now cannot as i heard the firmware currently(although the same number as mine) its different from my original which can charge from any usb connection, the current firmware only allows computer with creative software installed to charge via usb(this is what i heard, not yet tested), also the current one now enables me to use my player while still connected to the usb cable(when no reading or uploading)

LittleGhost: Glad to help. Although unfortunately, this discussion is beyond ZVM discussion, sorry smile.gif May I suggest the DIY Amp Club instead? (which I am hoping to join soon:))

The dai-kors and tai-kar-ches there can help you with the inline attenuator question...

It's an urban legend, that USB or any other trickle chargers like car chargers, will kill the battery, although there are many people which can contest to that, including myself tongue.gif

Well you see, I own a Motorola SLVR (OT here, sorry), and it came with a USB charger/sync cable. I noticed that my battery goes koo-koo after I charge it using USB. Symptoms include:

1. The "fully charged" phone only lasts half the period, compared to charging using wall charger,
2. It does not handle half way charging (i.e. charging when u still have 50% batt) very well, as sometimes it reports Fully Charged in less than 15 mins!

Therefore, no way I am gonna charge my baby ZVM via USB! tongue.gif

I have talked to a few friends before, and they all say that USB/Car charger will shorten battery life expentancy. Possible (non-educated) guess include:

1. USB cables, unlike wall chargers, does not have a regulator chip build onto it
2. People tend not to charge fully when using USB/Car, due to convenience, therefore taking up more "batt lifetime charge cycle" often than normal (Note: all battery can only charge X number of times. After X, it can no longer hold the charge, check with your manufacturor for guess-timated X figure smile.gif)

Back to topic... I flashed my ZVM to 1.30.02 (read my #1 post), and it still can charge from USB (unfortunately, for me tongue.gif), but I can't really use it when it is USB connected (i think), coz its in Sync Mode. Will confirm about the Sync Mode later.

BTW,

I got myself this ==> Logitech PlayGear Share(tm)

Because I will keep my ZVM in my Crumpler pouch (which I bought for my Sony Clie), and I noticed that when I plug on my Grados, it kinda stick out really wierd.

So I was searching up and down from electronic spare part shop, to electrical shop, to computer shop, cannot find any solution to make a L-shape mini plug convertor....

So last resort, also to protect my ZVM's headphone jack (coz I change from my EP-480 and Grados often), I went to Sony Wings and bought the PlayGear Share @ RM59.00 shakehead.gif Damn expensive...

It's rather sturdy, and the arm is flexible. I did not notice any audio quality lost, even using the outer jack (the one furthest from the jack).

Anyone else got a better suggestion?

Yea i'm pretty agree with wat u've mentioned , personal preference . my sister enjoyed the ZVM , but not for me .

I'll stop argueing about ipod here , but for me , converting video format aint tat troublesome, hence, i get a better quality file after i converted it using some 3rd party program , and it is quite fast in converting though.

Overall , ZVM is a good product , not regret getting it as it pleased my sister .

check out the new firmware ...just released

-edit-
still not working...radio is still the same..hang whole player. Well generally i dont use the radio much but after awhile kinda get bored with the songs loaded in the player...so can use the radio to listen to fresh music.

new firmware opinion : well cant see much changes, didnt use audible software, also now...once usb connected to my player, its always in sync mode now like original (dont know why i flash the 1.30.02 version, i can use the player like normal although plugin to usb, except it will auto stop and goes into sync mode only when my computer request data or transfer data to the player)

just return my player to the place i bought it(need to send it to supplier and see what they can do to repair).unfortunately there is no 1-1 exchange..probably because its a month old player already. sad.gif Hopefully they repair the player permanently and not give me another player which have a percentage of failure(hate returning it all the time)

just a caution : always keep your receipt as a proof of purchase in case of anything (creative will only handle warranty if there is a proof of purchase-thats what on the creative website and technical support says, luckily i kept mine), online registration will only give you technical support and product announcement.

Hey all,

My Boxwave FlexiSkin has arrived!

The package arrived one day earlier then expected, which was a nice surprise, considering that it come across the Pacific Ocean! Thumbs up for the US postal service! BTW, it was shipped via First Class Mail, and it cleared Malaysia customs without any issue.

Here is the package:

user posted image

The packaging was a plain transparent plastic, with no marking of whatsoever. Here is the front:

user posted image

And here is the back, as you can see the label of the product and the lanyard. The label says "For Zen-VS-M30G". I'll leave it to you all to decode what it means.

user posted image

Further emptying the box, I found the invoice.

user posted image

First impression was... dude, where is the manual/instruction? OK, I know it's just a silicon skin, but it's my first one, so panicked a little.

OK, never mind. Going on, taking it out of the transparent display box:

user posted image

Emptying the contents, here is what you get:

user posted image

. One black silicon skin
. One belt clip
. One lanyard
. One screen protector

Hmm. I thought that something is amiss here. Where is the screen protector? It turns out that it hidden inside the skin, which also houses the cardboard model Zen Vision:M. Out it goes to my wife, which I told her that I gotten a white unit for her... /me got slapped. tongue.gif

user posted image

The screen protector is made of stiff transparent plastic, although it's a bit too reflective for my taste. But it's not more (or less) reflective than the ZVM screen anyway.

OK, here is my ZVMiB (ZVM in Black). Still has the default plastic cover that came with the packaging. At the bottom, is the default suede pouch cover that came with the packaging. One word of advice, please take off the default plastic cover, because it caused quite a scratching to my unit sad.gif

user posted image

Hey there buddy, meet you new friend:

user posted image

Off it goes, naked:

user posted image

And scratched sad.gif

user posted image

The back of my unit, scratch-less, thanks to the sandblasted nature.

user posted image

Using my common sense (thanks to the missing manual), I formalized a strategy to put the baby in. OK, here it comes! Through the large opening, bottom first.

user posted image

Nice fit!

user posted image

Taking off the protector for the screen protector (d'oh)...

user posted image

And slid it into the case, snugly.

user posted image

Here's the back of the case. The belt clip holds to the FlexiSkin by means on a large metal screw at the back.

I decided to take off the screw, because I already have a nice Crumpler pouch to house my ZVM. Using a screw driver, and a little bit of force, the screw comes off:

user posted image

Following are shots of the different views after everything is fitted:

Right view. Note the cutout for the build in mic:

user posted image

Bottom view. The connector fits fine, without any obstruction. No idea about the cradle, which I don't have (and unobtainable in Malaysia, BTW).

user posted image

Back side view. Note the lanyard hole. I decided not to use the lanyard, because it's too long, and I think the screen protector will pop off if I tugged the lanyard too hard.

user posted image

Front view. Notice the perforated markings, which you can feel using your finger:

user posted image

Top view. Everything accessible.

More on the screen protector. The protector has a little "leg", which are dots, in the 4 corners. It sits on the 4 corners of the screen, so the protector will not move around. The protector itself adds a bit of height to the screen, as you might be able to see from here:

user posted image

But it sits totally flush with the rest of the skin. Here is how it looks like from the side:

user posted image

BTW, the black L shaped thing sticking out of the headphone jack is the Logitech PlayGear Share.

Summary
=======
I paid USD 26.95 for the package, and the shipping was USD7.50, bringing the total to RM130.91 (based on USD1 = RM3.80). It was a bit costly, but I had no other choice because there is no equivalent available anywhere in Low Yat, Klang Valley or anywhere in Malaysia that I could find.

The touch of the material is actually very soft, very silky, unlike more silicon products, which are somewhat sticky at times. There were some talks that the FlexiSkin will attract dust, which I do not agree. Even if you get dusts on it, it's can be easily blow/wipe off.

The fit was okey, not super "condom-slap-on" tight, but form fitting. I don't think the ZVM will fall out easily. All of the cutouts are perfectly located, but I have to say that the cuts could be cleaner. But I guess you can only do a better job using laser  It's not Jet Black (totally black) as some people thought, but it was okey with me. If you want to know how black, it's just as black any other silicon iPod skin.

One other nice pleasant side effect of having the skin on is that the touch strip has gotten more accurate. This is possibly to the fact that my hands are already sweaty, and Synaptic touchpads are generally flimsy when you fingers are damp. Synaptic technology is used in almost all recent notebooks, Zen products and iPod's ClickWheel.

I tried on the belt clip, which looks pretty sturdy. It clips onto the skin with a reassuring "click" and taking it off the clip was a no issue matter as well.

So here is a summary:

+ Nice silky touch
+ Sturdy belt clip
+ Hard plastic screen protector

- Questionable lanyard hole
- Expensive (compared to iPod or Kroo alternatives)
- Shipping from US required

IMHO Rating: Recommended, unless you get something similar cheaper locally.

ive surveyed the ZV..read reviews till my eyeballs popped out...seems like they have a few things that im not satisfied with:

1. viewing angle
2. the card reader needs adapter(which will cost me another rm180) to read MMC and SD
3. i surely need the docking station..another rm180
4. u cant use ur pic as the background
5. NO ZOOM IN function!!!!!
6. Only support JPEG format...damn...im a budding photographer..hehe..so might edit my pics in BMP format too!
7. i figured i dont really need the wide screen as i can watch movies on my laptop =p

there u go...of course...people recommended cowon x5L but i cant find it anywhere in kl...+ my dad doesnt want me to buy anything that has been discontinued its production..but cowon's product support is very good compared to creative

will have future probs with accessories and im worried abt the service centre...

its a matter of convenience and cost and functions that i dont need.

=)

hence...ZVM...did hope the price to be cheaper though...

Hey supazta!

Congrats on your new purchase!!! Hope you are enjoying every second of it...

As for the antenna, I think any headphone/earphone should be fine. I use a Grado SR60, and FM was okey. As long the cable is not shielded lar...(which you can only find for headphones > RM500)

Please give a pic review of the InvisibleShield when you get hold of it! There has been a lot of talk of shield vs. silicon lately... Which retailer u got it from? USD25 including shipping?

got it from their official website : http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description...ZENVISMFUL.html

yes...usd25..free shipping thumbup.gif

there's a similiar company which produces the same thing(or so they claimed) and sells it at 1/3 or Invisible Shield's price...but i dare not buy it from them as i think they do not offer life time warranty

duno which one to buy lorh..
she9500 or edifier h260?

philips sba290(davis sells this) or edifier mp220..

Yup! It can play most latest downloaded movies, i.e. DivX 4, 5 and Xvid (in SP - Simple Profile mode). Only much older movies (based on DivX 3) are not supported.

Try to make it 320x240 la...because:

1. it's the native resolution of the ZVM screen
2. it saves a lot of space on the ZVM...

i wonder if there is a program telling u tat d file is not playable b4 i send it 2 ZVM?.. or i'll hav 2 test in d player 1 by 1 instead i can straight away notice it n convert it 2 a playable format...?
*
Hey Ben,

There is two ways to approach this. Basically, there is two ways to copy files into ZVM.

Method 1: Via Windows Media Player (WMP) - also known as MTP device method.
By using this method, WMP does not really perform a check whether it can play the video file before uploading. You can use a third party free program called GSpot to determine whether it's DivX 4 & 5 or Xvid. This is my preferred method, coz I hate installing Creative drivers.

Method 2: Using the Creative software. This software does actually perform the check, and based on option, it will help you to convert unplayable files to playable format.

So take your pick. Anyway, I have found only two file of video that does not play properly:

1. DivX version 3, very rare, unless the file was encoded > 2 years ago.
2. Any movie files with AC3 (surround sound). I usually don't download these kind of files, because it's too large (usually 50% larger than normal files), and I don't have surround hardware anyway.

Hope this helps you to make your purchase, Ben.

Well, for now, this canal doesn impress me. The bass of it is more defined compare with the sony's..hehe(sony is way too boooommy and do not have defined bass lol)

However, my first impression of the treble WAS horrible. The lack of clarity on the treble almost made me threw it away, but i decided to keep it,just yet. Currently, I notice a huge improvement on the treble which I can easily play rock-ish songs without pulling my hair.

The isolation isn't anything to brag about, just okay.Successfully blocked mom's nagging laugh.gif ,bus engine, honking and up to 4db of isolation from LRT train. smile.gif

Probably upload the pics sometime tmr...or whenever i feel like it biggrin.gif

OK guys, I have figured out how to make the FM work for you. Please note I am using firmware version 1.41.01.

FM Radio => Press Play/Pause button, you will notice the word "Preset x" turn on or off (where x could be 1-20). Press the Play/Pause button until the "Preset x" is turned off, then using the left and right button to manually tune. Hold down left or right to scan forward/backward.

Hope this helps.

SMS? Hmm... very wierd.. ZVM does not have any wireless capability... Your screen does look wierd... Two things I can suggest:

1. Upgrade to firmware 1.41.01 again, if you have already done so.
2. Return for warranty.

Well, there is three "simple" ways to prevent this.

1. Charge via power first until 100%, then connect USB to sync.
2. Plug in and turn on power and connect to USB at same time.
3. Plug into USB as usual, but cepat cepat sync then unplug USB smile.gif

Your pick... Hope this helps.

ben_ang:

In ZVM, there are three modes when playing videos.

1. Original Size = dun really get what this mean, as it does not have any effect. You though use this options as "Original Ratio" smile.gif

2. Fit to Screen = same as below...

3. Stretch to Full = for widescreen stuff, it simply stretches the video upwards and downwards, making Fox Mulder looking like an elongated alien himself tongue.gif

But for me, since the ZVM screen is hi-res enough, I don't really have issues watching widescreens with the black bar...

ure welcome!

ok..here are the steps:

1. cleaned up my zvm..make sure its free of dust and microfibres

2. peel off the shield and then sprayed both sides of the shield using the given spray.

3. slowly alligned it and then i used the 'squeegee' to remove bubbles trapped underneath the shield (pressing the squeegee/credit card from the middle and outwards)

4. waited for 24 hours for the shield to settle itself.

5. after a few days, the microbubbles dissapears. (magic? heheh)

did encounter some probs like..i misalligned the shield and i had to peel it off and re-applied it and there were some microfibres(must have came from my shirt) glued inside it..

overall, im quite satisfied of the end result.

thumbup.gif

the scroll area is also being protected by the shield and i found it to be quite nice as my fingers a bit sakit when i scrolled on the sandpaper surface..and the back side also protected, so nomore sandpaper surface..all become plasticky..like the front side.

i dont have to worry about it anymore if i accidentally put my zvm together with my keys inside the bag.

can anybody tell me what these files are and where do they come from?
found them in my zvm under MY PICTURES.

so much hassle to view one by one before deleting them one by one.

john, do u know how can i add pics or mp3s to the zvm manually?
like i pick only the folders that i intend to transfer?
seems like whenever i plugged it for synchronisation, it transfers every possible media files in my lappy..
i even found folders for my saved webpages..containing images of toolbars and buttons etc.

easier way to make my life simpler?

supazta:

Assuming your are using WMP 9, for pictures, I recommend that you turn off the auto-sync.

I actually copied the pictures by folder, by using Windows Explorer.

For MP3, this method does not work, because if you noticed, ZVM organizes the music not by folders that we create, but uses the MP3 Tag and sorted by Artist. What this means that irregardless how u organize your music on your computer, it will end up as Artists in ZVM. I guess that is why you need WMP to sync music.

For pictures, it's not a problem, because there is no "Tag" for pictures, therefore you can safely copy the pictures by folder directly into ZVM.

1. Is the screen too small? - Really pref based... If you are used to PSP screen, then it might be to small. If you are used to staring at your phone screen whole day, then ZVM is a pleasure to watch...

2. Subtitles - If you are talking about .SUB files, then unfortunately ZVM does not support. If the subtitles are embedded into the movie file itself, then no problem... You'll understand what I mean if you are an Anime fan...

3. Ebooks - erm...no support yet. No PDF/ebook support available yet.

4. Zen Vision or ZVM? Ask supazta.. smile.gif If you ask me, for the $$$, get ZVM...

its a long term investment.
if i were to sell it off...a 100% scratchless gadget would attract higher offer..wouldnt it?

and to answer ur question...its a YES...i do not prefer silicon case as used by john as i dunt like the rubbery feel..the price is almost the same right john? minus shock protection and belt clip right?
i dont use belts anyways...even if i do..would be those really fancy ones..wouldnt wana ruin it by attaching zvm to it...

yea..its a shame that zvm doesnt support pdf files or else i could read my lecture notes from it...

one question:
which one is more preferable method to take care of the battery...(this is when i use my zvm in my room and plug it into the speakers)

1. use it thru ACDC power and only unplug it when i take out

2. fully charge it and use it until the battery goes flat?

which one is more recommendable?
oh..btw..is it the same thing with laptops too?

On the battery issue, technically, it would be better to leave it charging, coz the battery stops charging when it gets full, then if the ZVM is continued to be plugged into AC, then ZVM will use the AC power (instead of using battery). Modern devices stops charging the battery when it is full.

All batteries have life time cycles, e.g. most mobile battery can only last for 500 charges, so battery life = number of times you charge, not how many hours you use it...

Why isn't there a single Creative distributor or representative selling accessories for the Creative Zen Vision M? I lost my charger/transfer cable and can't replace it. Creative Singapore will not mail online purchases out of Singapore and I've come to realise that the Zen Vision M is " Made in Malaysia ".

Does anyone know where to buy the dock at a less cut-throat price? Singapore is selling it at SGD69. which is about RM150 to 170.

Well... if you are a heavy user like me... (i.e. 15 hours of music/day) 500 times => 1 charge per day = almost two years... smile.gif But that time, wouldn't you want something better? smile.gif

I have heard that there are replacement batteries, from Creative. Not so sure about the price though. Let me ask around first.

About accessories, I totally understand dude, no one sells any spare part. Not even the big Creative shop in entrance of Plaza Low Yat.

nimloth32:

For Zen Vision, the battery is easily replaceable, like mobile phone battery. For ZVM, it's like iPod, which you need specialist to crack open the case to replace the battery.

After 500 charges, batteries will still work, just it might not retain the charge that long. E.g. if when you buy new, one charge = 15 hours, after 500 change, each charge probably last 4-5 hours.

both has similar audio quality, but X5L has more audio control

The X5 is the finest DAP player I ever known while ZVM would be the most successful hybrid DAP +PMP player existed wink.gif

QUOTE(creap @ Jul 23 2006, 02:47 PM)
although this a ZVM fanclub, but can anyone tell me which is better?

X5L vs ZVM----> http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8444

i like ZVM, but X5L has a longer battery life(35H) shocking.gif

read lotsa review complaining about the joystick...easily rosak since it pops out from the x5l body.

also...since to find one unit itself would be hard..i wouldnt want to risk buying it if the warranty proven to be too hard to be claimed.

think about it.
better buy something that has a service centre close to u.
u can save on shipping cost / repair cost since they will have to import even the tiniest part from oversea.

thats one of my major concern..which lead me to settle for zen vision m. though i actually like the simplicity of the x5L design.

yaaaaaa, I forgot the button issues on X5L, yawn.gif

it's a typical korean DAP dry.gif, some people couldnt hand it well due 'stiffed button' techonology; thats giving ZVM more ergonomics over X5L Not to forget the apple clickwheel is the finest navigation made.

anybody using SHE9500?

i wonder..whether my expectation of the level of noise isolation is too high for this earphones...
doesnt seem to block as much noises as i imagined it would do...
quite frustated..i dont want to turn my volume too high just to block outside noise...i want to listen to my songs at mid volume as i dont want to become permanently deaf.(says so by people suing apple for not warning the possibility of prolonged use of ipod could cause permanent damage to hearing).

so..do i have a very high expectation of this pair of earphones or its true?

wow, you mean that after two years, you can do nothing to your ZVM except throwing it away..sobbb..

well, i read from the site that there are indeed replacement battery sold for zen vision (i am not sure zen: vision or ZVM)..but there might be extra charges if you replace it at the shop..
*
You can always open the case up, replace the battery urself. Normal desoldering and soldering involved. However I THINK once u open the case or take out the old battery, u will break a seal that voids the warranty. But i guess by the time u need to replace the battery, the warranty period will be long gone. However, do handle the item with care, and dont do it if ur not confident. This item is not a place to start practising.

That is the only option if you want it cheap. BTW, i think i've seen ppl selling zen vision batteries on eBay.

supatza,it depends on how disappointed you are.

The SHE9500 generally does not block noise well compared to stuff like EX 71 or the Creative EP630 (which I assume is same as the Senn CX300,since the built is the same)

You must of course understand that canalphones can only block that much of noise. If you need much more, you're looking at getting urself a real pair of IEM's which are less comfortable,is more of a hassle to put in but isolate more.

But yes,in general the SHE9500 is known to isolate less than the above mentioned canals.

My previous SHE9501 has "failed" interms of noise blocking,
very loosen / longgar,

The best isolation among 3 (EX51, SHE9501, HJE50) is HJE50

A lil somethin I read from somewhere :

Some still hear ambient noises despite getting a good seal and has thus suspected the hole at the top (bass intake hole) to be the culprit of leaking noise in.

This is of course merely his suspicion,I have no proof that this is true tongue.gif

Hey guys,

I just got my CX300, and just want to share my take of the noise isolation. I think it's pretty cool, as it is able to block out noise in a busy kopitiam, except when someone dropped empty plates, which is really loud.

I kept mine on M sized buds. It's actually a bit larger for my canals, but I decided that the slightly large size, and the minor discomfort will go away after a few hours...

supazta: Maybe you should try one size larger for your she9500?

i use total video converter to convert those files that's not supported by the player and it's faster than creative video converter (sometimes i get that message too, file not supported for conversion etc). However got some issues with the timelength of the video, my player keeps reading like 1-4 hours long whereas the actual playback time is only 4-6 mins, probably some settings i need to adjust somewhere, video works fine..just that dont like seeing my video timelength like in few hours long(auto stop when the video finish playing, not depending on the time shown on screen though).

This is the reply from the creative website!

Thank you for reaching us at Creative Technical Support; we appreciate
the opportunity to assist you.

As regards to your enquiry, I do understand that you had performed a few
record using the Zen Vision:M player. However you are unable to forward
or rewind the recorded files to another time slot/frame.

May I find are you able to forward or rewind normal mp3 song to another
time frame? Have you try importing the recorded files into your PC
system and use our bundled MediaSource to playback the file? Are you
able to perform the forward or rewind function using mediasource? If so,
you might wish to convert the files into MP3/WMA format using
MediaSource and transfer the files back into the player.

In case if you need any clarifications, please do not hesitate to
contact us.

Do email back on the status concerning the issue so that I can assist
you further. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Brandon

hmm..

Longer recording time require large prebuffer for file saving. This might the reason the file was not save in correct length or cannot be skipped /FF, firmware limitation/ bugs (or faulty).

Have you configure the recording quality, maybe you need to lower the value (-the bitrate 64,96,128k ? ) (-11, 22khz, 44khz ?), can you post your recording quality setup here

yo supazta,

go to Music Library > Recordings > (choose the recording and play it) > Right click/Context menu > View Details.

Examine the last line. Tell us what you see.

If you have WMP 10 or higher, then there shouldn't be any problem.

if that doesn't help, http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/bo...message.id=7938 Read post #5

Hello people!

Nice to know there's a Zen Vision:M club here. Cool. Well, i was just wondering when does the blue and pink colours coming here? I really love the blue. Saw it on google. If not, the white will be fine for me.

And what's the best price i can get around town? Wanna upgrade my player soon..

Thanks!

Hi there claxxion,

Welcome! Officially, we were told that only Black (most popular), White (common), and Green (rare) is available in Malaysia. I haven't seen a blue ZVM before. Anyone else here spotted 1 b4?

I got mine for RM1160, some ppl managed to get RM1140 @ LowYat Plaza.

I'm using that version also. Nothing major so far. There is a newer version recently released (version 1.50.02, refer entries before), and it is confirmed that it breaks DRM (purchased) music playback.

Since most of us own MP3s from legally acquired CDs (heh.), and online music store is not available to Malaysia, there should not be a problem to us smile.gif

Yeah, I noticed that it happens when the unit is hot, either caused by:

1. The weather smile.gif
2. Navigating the menu here and there and here and there...
3. Browsing many high res pictures for long long time.

I guess it's normal for any electronic device to go crazy when it overheats...

Hie Zen guru's,

I was thinking of getting the zen vision M or W and keep it in my car. So it works as an in car picture, MP3, video player. Plug the zen into my car radio's aux in.

I was happy to find out there there's a creative in car charger for this zen visions.

http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...7&product=13882

But I asked around in Low Yat, and none of the shops actually sells this.
So I would like to ask if you all know where to find it?

Also what's your opinions on using this zen in the car?

Thanks wink.gif

although I really love the design of the CREATIVE Vision, the only factor that stopped me from buying one is its lack of support for soft subtitles. regardless of whether we watch English or Japanese or Korean movies, soft subtitles support is essential in this era of DVD with switchable subtitle playback. I really don't understand why the fark Creative, which is a Singaporean company and has a huge Asian customer base, never bother to farking add this simple feature to the player. it is just a matter of a 3 to 4MB firmware upgrade and if COWON and ARCHOS can easily include them in their players, it is farking ridiculous for CREATIVE to ignore this feature.

Well, that's a note Creative should look into.

But I don't care, cause it's not like the subtitle would help me much, cause the screen isn;t BIG ya know laugh.gif (suggest you to live with it)

Zen Vision M share almost similar architecture with Cowon A2. Creative's need to xplore its capabilty like A2 (ogg, aac, flac & subtitles support)... ..

but I agree with you Creap, for Zen VM it wasn't meant for serious mediaplayer, ... kindof DAP+PMP hybrid

The small screen is for the sake of portability and convenience, while you are stuck on LRT or a bus on your way balik kampung or to another country. the fact that the CREATIVE provide a video out port mean that it was also meant to be used as a portable storage device for video and one that can playback and output easily to a bigger screen. you can't really have big screen and portability in one single device. Even if somebody manage to make one in the future with a 17' LCD that is less than 1Kg, do you really want to carry that around and whip it out to watch in LRT?

It's damn hard to get any kind of accessory for ZVM.
There's only one place i know that sell the original leather case by Creative. Somewhere near the Creative main outlet at Lowyat. The only problem is that it's extremely expensive. Around RM100++ if I'm not mistaken.
There are better and cheaper casing available but you can only get those from oversea or order them online.

hello!!!
Does anyone know if the software designed to work on a iPod will work on a ZV:M? For example PodMaxx. or has anyone found "3rd" party extras like games that work on a ZV:M? There are a ton of programs out there.
Obrigado!!!

Yeah they are. Better go check it out because theres bargains.

Too bad they don't sell the wired remote for my Zen Micro.
Anyone knows where can I get it? Even a trusted web site will do. I was thinking of buying it from the Creative web site but the problem is that they only ship to Singaporean addresses.

What do you guys think about the EP-630 earphones? I'm thinking of getting it.

You need to convert them before you can actually watch them in your zvm.

The video converter software comes together with your zvm, go check your zvm box for the installation CD.

I bought Creative Zen Vision M, White 30GB, at KL PC Fair on Saturday. Not because it look like a triPod (no hard feelings Apple, but you offended me with your two latest moves), but because I like how the buttons light up blue on the white background reminds me of a certain little doggy from a certain cartoon I got hooked on a few months back.

Firmware was 1.40.02, but then I found upgrade to 1.60.01 and applied it.

QUOTE
i wonder if there is a program telling u tat d file is not playable b4 i send it 2 ZVM?

Windows got come out warning when I tried to put in some file, say possibly not playable. Of course the file is playable, but the audio-video go out of sync tongue.gif

QUOTE
yea...how can i set the frequency of the fm radio without using the autoscan option?

You press the play button to switch to manual tuning mode, then press right on the scrollpad to get it so scan. To save, press the menu button (bottom right button), then save preset I think. I only started using Radio mode after firmware upgrade to 1.60.01.

So far I save Lite FM, Traxx FM, Hitz FM and Mix FM.

PC Fair KL has 30GB version going for RM999 and 60GB version for RM1299.

Headphone, USB cable, cloth pouch and connector dongle oni apart from the usual stuff (installation CD, which I dun need because the laptop I synced the player from oredi has Creative Media Center from the Extigy I have connected). Plan to get the adapter/charger somehow.

QUOTE

I try oredi. Sometime it let through(a pair of 512kbps 25fps 352x288 DivX5+128kbps 44KHz stereo MP3 AVI videos), but other time it say not compatible(384kbps 25fps 160x120 Divx5+32kbps 22Khz mono MP3 AVI video). If you lucky, when they say not compatible but you go ahead, it can play, but got some funny side effect on the video (in my case, video lose sync with audio very early in the movie).

Unfortunately, AFAIK, Apple OS is not supported sad.gif This is because the ZVM is not recognized as USB Mass Storage device (to put music in), even in Windows XP/Vista. It uses this standard called MTP. Maybe you want to consider other non-MTP Creative players?

Brother/Sister Creative owners, any suggestion for Carpathia?

the audio quality of both players don't have a significant difference, prolly only 1%.

However, neeon doesn't have video function and is much smaller and lighter as opposed to ZVM. But consider this, neeon only have 6GB of capacity while ZVM has 30GB, of course both players target different users altogether.

Wat u mean they managed to slim down the size of the player? You mean the 30GB model? 60GB is kinda thick hehehe. sweat.gif
30GB comes with a adaptor charger itself, while the 60GB does not. But both of them can be charged using the dock when connecting to the PC using USB port. You may wan to purchase a separate adaptor for the 60GB model. Hope tat answers ur questions. icon_idea.gif

hi guys,

got a couple of questions.

1. how much is the zvm now at its cheapest ah? i saw earlier in the thread, someone saw it at RM1100 at best dengki in january, and RM999 at pc fair in december. any thoughts if the price has changed?

2. also, is there anywhere in klang valley that might be same price or cheaper than low yat? how about the digital mall in PJ sec 14?

3. how about the prices here compared to say simlim plaza in singapore? would you know if it's cheaper to buy from singapore?

this may be a bit out of topic, but those that has friends or relatives in the US, you can get it real cheap, but at some inconvenience to them.

buydig.com sells it at USD 219.95 with USD 50 mail-in rebate. Check it out at
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=CLZENVISM30GIGB
Total bill comes out to RM600++. Mine you, this comes with US warranty smile.gif

ps: You may need to pay sales tax (i.e. 8% in California) as well depending on states.

you charge through the Sync Adapter through USB. takes 5-6 hrs for a full charge? otherwise, the Creative wall charger costs RM199 here. That should cut down the charging time to 2.5 hrs I think

Anyone bought a ZEN VISION M lately ? can anyone confirm if the new batch is thinner than the older batch ?

BTW, you cant buy the 60gb anymore, its been taken off the worldwide creative site- so this can only mean 2 things
1) new slimmer version to be launched soon
2) creative will launch new models ! ?

My 3rd gen iPod is slowly but surely dying again after having already replaced the battery once before.

Considering getting a Vision M as it's cheaper + looks cooler IMO. biggrin.gif
How much would a black 30GB model cost me now? And are the bundled earphones decent enough?

If wmv and divx avi format dun need, but zvm din support high resulotion, probably 320x240 and 640x480.
But the convert is a simple job, i use super to convert my video to avi with divx codec and on 320x240 resulotion.

Im actually worried with both. I charge it with a usb cable yesterday for a full day but it still read 1 bar? Is it something to do with the firmware? Should I upgrade the firmware? Or buy a wall charger?

It doesnt connect to my laptop but I can connect it to a pc. I dont know why. Any help on these 2 problems will be highly appreciated

my zvm's keypad is acting weird since last week, contacted customer service and found that my warranty is passed, so tried my luck and open it up to fix it.

click the spoiler for pictures. smile.gif

the keypad light can even lighted up if i press anykey while the device is off.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

after switched on, the key arrangement is all messed up, press play can go next track, press shortcut can come out option, and the light is abnormal.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

everything prepared, i followed this guide: ZVM disassembly

the zvm's battery:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the toshiba hard drive:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

my zen split into 3 pieces:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the mainboard backside:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

after hard work of reconnecting the keypad and touchpad ribbon, my zvm backs to normal. nod.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the touchpad connector and lcd connector is together, i cant managed to take pic, and i used few minutes to reconnect the touchpad ribbon. sweat.gif

hope the prob dun come again. smile.gif

any comment are welcome. notworthy.gif

Hi everyone!

I'm a proud owner of ZVM as well! Got it for free after winning an sms contest a year ago, and it still works fine. It does hang once in a blue moon maybe coz I didnt ever update the firmware (well I actually didnt know there is such thing as updating firmware for this ZVM). Hehe. Pity me, registered the thing long time ago and never had any intention to check their emails, I'll normally skip them.:-p. Only got to know about that after I suddenly felt like searching for something about this ZVM and found this forum. I thought not many people use ZVM but hey, I'm impressed!

Anyways, the reason why I felt like searching about ZVM is whether there is such thing as changing the cover coz mine is badly scrathed! Well, my fault actually for not taking care of it well. I wanted to buy their cover i.e the rubber kind or whatsoever similar in the stores but there isnt any. All I saw was for iPod..iPod.. here and there. Creative? Hard to find. And I saw a post like a year ago that the person bought online eh? I have always thought that this ZVM is not that friendly in terms of the accessories coz it's hardly found anywhere but I just got to know that Creative have some of the accessories too. Hurm, but I really do want to know if we can change the cover i.e the original cover from the Creative stores. Is it possible?

Hi ZVM owners,

I just received mine yesterday and I was a happy girl until today...

For some reason my player is no longer being recognised by my laptop. I've read a few discussions around the place and this seems to have happened to a few people but I haven't read any answers that could help me!

What's going on??! I plug it in but nothing appears under My Computer or anywhere else for that matter. I can only seem to charge it atm.

Help. I'm getting maddd. vmad.gif

Help. I'm getting maddd.  vmad.gif

Hey there,

Can you:

1. Plug in ZVM,
2. Open up Device Manager <== do you see any question marks or exclamation marks?
3. Make sure Windows Media Player is running, recommend to use latest WMP11.

Let us know how it goes...

When I open Device Manager I see an exclamation mark over the Creative Zen Vision:M under Portable Devices. I have tried updating the driver and uninstalling the driver and then reinstalling it but nothing seems to work! My Zen works fine on my boyfriend's computer, I just can't work out what's different!

I'm looking forward to buy one. The price I've checked through internet that the Viewnet Computer System at Lowyat sell the ZVM 30GB at about RM 659. I think the price has gone down after several years in the market. Kinda good news for late buyers

Here's the link: http://www.viewnet.com.my/file/Pricelist.pdf

I hope anyone who knows better price around Klang Valley can informs us in this forum

I bought my Creative ZVM today at lowyat. I bought from its authorized seller and it costs me RM699.

Freshly out of box, it already has some scratches on it. DC adapter not provided. USB charging is the only option i got right now. I'm planning to look for 3rd party DC adapter soon. Wonder if there's any

My ZVM play/pause button is stiffer to press than other buttons

I thought that the battery is plain empty when we first bought it. Quite surprising for me when I tried to turn it on while waiting for KTM back home, it's on, the battery is nearly full actually

First I played the music and tried the FM. Just ok. The provided earphone made me straight away thinking about buying a better pair such as Sony MDR EX90LP or the Sennheiser PX200

When i got home and transfered all the music from my laptop to my Zen, it took about more than half than hour. I can not blame the Creative however because I was transferring 11GB of tracks and 1-2GB of pictures into the portable player, huge loads.

Same problem with other users, after I transferred the musics, tried to play it, the progress bar didn't move, and the bars for FM just vanished. Does this problem can be solved by updating the firmware?

Anyway, there's mp3 player recovery tool that freely downloadable from Creative site. Has anyone ever uses it before? Any comments?

Last thing, this ZVM is my first ever portable audio player actually. Never had one before except my FM capable Sony Ericsson mobile phone

dry pillow,
Make a full backup, transfer the whole files into temp storage. Reformat devices, and copy and use couple (2/3 Gigabyte) for while. Make a test 2/3 days with small number of files. Try and evaluate

Oh my God, how can I be so unaware. Everytime I transfering music, I move my whole library music. Didn't thought to do some evaluation with small size files. I'm first timer at this portable audio thingy

Thanks enCORe for the advice

Now I'm struggling with the album art. First I tried with the MediaSource, some pictures in folder did shows up as album art, but some didn't. I'll try next time with WMP 11

Added on April 27, 2008, 9:28 amI bought Phillips SHE8500 yesterday. This also my first canalphone. Initially I was planning to get the Sony MDR EX90LP, but I have never even tried the low end canalphone, so I settle with the cheaper one first. Since this is my first time, I can say it's great to experience about 70% external noise reduction. Also I could hear some instruments I never heard before with my cheap SonicGear headphone. The bass is too much for me however. Thanks to ZVM Custom EQ, I can reduced the bass.

The rest, oh my oh my, I love my ZVM, it sounds equally good with my laptop. Creative Labs i world renown in making great soundcards, therefore her ability in making great sounding portable audio is unquestionable

The EX90LP is RM340 at KLCC SonyStyle, while I bought the SHE8500 at RM85 from All IT branch here in Kajang. They sell many things cheap there, maybe because the branch is newly opened (Sony DVD+R is 99cents per piece only they sell, honestly, while I bought the same Sony DVD+R at Thundermatch Lowyat for RM1.60 each piece)

I think I will go for the EX90LP after my next semester scholarship deposited in, :-)

Does anyone know the EX90LP price at Lowyat?

When we edit the ID3 tag in the computer, then we sync with ZVM, does the songs that already in the ZVM will change also its tag in parallel with the changes we made in the computer?

Added on April 30, 2008, 8:08 amSince the first day I bought the ZVM, I was relentlessly searching for AC/DC adaptor because I only have the USB charger. I read from this thread that USB charging can drains out the battery living span.

The authorized reseller of Creative Labs sell the OEM AC/DC adaptor for RM199!! How bloody expensive is that for a wall charger. Then I went buy third part AC/DC, first I bought the universal one, but didn't fit to the ZVM, and that cost me already for RM29. Then I bought another model universal AC/DC which cost me for RM35. This time the charger fits in, but it doesn't charging. Huh, RM 64 wasted just like that

Then I remember that Motorola HP also use the same type of connector. I tried with the Motorola phone charger which belong to my sister, and it WORKS!! It charges the ZVM good.... and its free also.

What a costly journey in searching AC/DC charger for me, and in the end the solution is a used Motorola charger which does not cost me a cent

Hi all... I had the Creative Vision M for a few years already. Firmware 1.11.01 well so far no reasons for me update, since no problems. Can I ask if anyone here knows where to get accessories for it? I need a screen protector and a rubber protective cover like the ones in the creative website. Mine has become a major scratch magnet over the years.... sigh Currently using it with Mylarone LBi.... beautiful

BabySmurfy, maybe you need to reset your ZVM. Simply use paper clip to stick it into the reset button below the ZVM.

If still does not work you may need to reformat your ZVM. Sometimes this problem occurs if there a corrupt files in your ZVM. It used to be happen to my ZVM too. In order to reformat your ZVM, first push the 'on' button on top and hold it, don't release it yet. And while holding the 'on' button, stick the paper clip into reset button. In other words you press and hold 'on' button, and stick the reset button simultaneously at the same time.

Reformatting is different from resetting.

Anyway may I know your's model? Is it 30gb or 60gb? What color? Where you bought it?

Mine is black 30gb and use Phillips SHE8500 as the earphones

I used to read that the same case that happens to you actually had happen to other user's in other countries like US. I like Creative ZVM sound quality but I have to admit that their overall quality is quite disappointing especially the build quality and Creative after sale service

Mine also got problem, the 'play/pause' button is clunky. When I press it, sometimes it presses all other buttons as well such the 'menu' button.

BabySmurf, I think you deserve to fully exploit your 1year warranty. Keep try get a new one until you get one in the perfect form. I read a user from US keep replacing his ZVM about 5 times under the 1year warranty plan

I've never heard the video playlist feature before. But you can get extra knowledge on it from Creative Labs Asia sites, especially in the knowledge base section. Who knows, you might find the right solution there

you can rip the dvd into your computer, then transfer it to your ZVM. Make sure the ripped files are ripped in formats that supported by ZVM. MPEG4 is one of the supported format

silicon casing for ZVM is hard to find. Maybe you can try to find them at Best Denki at MidValley, but no guarantee you'll find it there.

Sure place to find one is still in internet. eBay.com is one of the place.

i've been a user since about a year plus ago. mine's a 30gb, black color. i'm using a seinheiser HD435 and creative's own EP 630.

i got no problems so far with the player. used 8gb as a portable HDD to store some of my stuffs.

i used to have problems charging the unit using my normal PC (win xp pro sp 2) with the normal USB adapter supplied. then when i started to charged it thru my xbox360 all the problems are gone. now i've upgraded my system to a vista ultimate, everything works perfectly.

i got no protector skin for it, so it's covered with scratches here and there. but the screen is still clear enuff for me to watch videos and photos.

guys...

my friend found the ZEN Vision:M 30GB at the waiting bench at KLIA, unfortunately only the body itself alone without any accessories. and he just wait there for the day hopping the owner claim it later but yet no one claim the device...
while the device's battery still got power, we explore the contents but didnt get any clues who's the owner (or we might miss looked at it). Now the battery is totally exhausted, so can u guys advise me what kinda basic accessories should i buy so that i can look up the content again and seek for the clue thoroughly? cause i noticed some of the files and photos that been stored inside the device are important or got a sentimental values for the owner.
thanx for yer help guys.

I think you should buy the dock, which cost around RM100. Then you need to find the right software in the internet so your computer can recognizes the ZVM

well im also an owner of ZVM here..

i have a black one 30GB. got in from someguy in lowyat RM450 2nd hand but in good shape still. Im da owner for almost 1 month plus.

well ZVM isnt really a good player compared to Ipod. Ipod is much elegant to me but comparing its price to ZVM. ZVM totally rulez. ZVM is kinda heavy n big sometimes.. putting it in a pocket kinda burdens.. lol

lotsa ppl complain about its touchpad which i kinda dislike as well.. its vertical.. making it hard to manouver around. Ipod has round which is better. but i think users can easily master da touchpad in zvm. its kinda easy. u jus need to be patient n learn to master it lol.

i like its feature which allow us to set themes n wallpapers. beside theres fm radio which is still working till now. If ZVM were to have a game feature like in da Ipod and a built in speaker like da Zen X-fi, it would be totally a perfect player to me. it kinda bores to listen to music all da time. haha tat jus my thought.

overall conclusion. ZVM is a great player in its price range of course. it would be a player everyone can afford. beside its in 30Gb.. vast capacity.. i cant even use up my space.. lol

Today I saw Best Denki MidValley sells the ZVM at RM499. What a price cut!

I bought mine several months ago from lowyat plaza at RM699. If only I looked around a bit I might saved RM200 already now

After several month charging my ZVM with USB by computer, today I bought a wall charger for it.

The charger is original charger for SONY PSP, yet it works perfectly well for the ZVM. The cost is RM150, still alot cheaper than the original Creative ZVM AC charger which is RM200.

Now my ZVM battery can get the proper treatment of AC charging instead of harmful USB charging - it can reduce battery's life duration. Moreover the ZVM battery is not cheap

I plan to keep using my ZVM for 2 years, then I might switch to the latest 32GB Zen X-Fi. It has 2 extra GB, synthetic X-Fi capability, and most importantly it's using flash memory!! I think the hard drive memory that the ZVM uses is may already outdated thingy

Hi Guys,

I'm new here. I've been in the market for a mp3 player for nearly a year now and i've been a Creative fan for a long time.

Unfortunately i'm not fond of the new flash-based Creative players. I've decided what i want is the Creative Zen Vision: M..possibly 60GB.

Could you guys let me know where i can find this player and roughly how much it would cost? Most of the places i go to don't sell the Vision: M anymore..not even the 30GB version.

Please help.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Yes it is hard to find the ZVM these days, as it was replaced by the Creative Zen

But you still can find it in Low Yat Plaza. The shop is Viewnet and Digital Stuff. Digital Stuff on ground floor and Viewnet is located above. I bought from Digital Stuff, 30GB for about RM699. The 60GB version maybe around RM899 to RM999. Mind you the 30GB version is not included with wall charger sweat.gif , only the USB cable to charge from your computer instead of charging from your wall like handphone. The colors selection is also limited. At Digital Stuff only black for 30GB and white for 60GB. If I'm not mistaken the seller told me that if I buy the 60GB version I can get complete ZVM accessories

The other place is Mid Valley. Best Denki and Harvey Norman in Mid Valley MegaMall still sell the ZVM 30GB, can't remember whether they sell the 60GB. If you interested with 30GB version, go to Best Denki because it sell only for RM499 brows.gif nod.gif , while Harvey Norman still sell at old price RM699 sweat.gif

When the ZVM was introduced, the price for 30GB went for over RM1000, but that included all the accessories such as pouch, AC wall charger (original wall charger cost about RM169-RM200 if buy separately), and also the earphone Creative EP430 which is known for its good sound quality at affordable price

But now the 30GB ZVM is cheaper and all those mentioned accessories above are not included anymore. I bought mine early this year, and yeah they are not included

The ZVM can't be charged with usual USB wall charger like most mp3 players, which it is quite a setback for me and some. Try to charge your ZVM with the USB charger you might fry your ZVM

If you looking for alternative wall charger, you can get the cheaper original PSP charger at RM150, it works well with the ZVM. No problem, I'm using it too laugh.gif

In term of video playability, the ZVM still outdoes the Zen X-Fi.

See, the ZVM plays all supported videos at its original resolution without changing the picture ratio. The Zen X-fi can't does this. It rigid when it comes ti video, all videos will be played with distorted picture ratio. Zen X-Fi simply refuses to play videos at its original ratio, which is unlike the old good ZVM

Today I got my Koss KSC 75 to be paired with the ZVM. Now I'm happy with what kind of sound quality ZVM can offers if paired with good headphone.

The only setback is that I need to set the volume level higher than previous level I use with my Philips SHE8500. Guess that this Koss KSC 75 produce lower level of volume compared to IEM. Creative EP630 is louder than KSC 75.

However in term of bass and clarity, the Koss is my best headphone to this date

Is there anyway to hook the ZVM to a car? I like to listen to my music on the move. And putting headphones in your ear while driving is just dangerous.

There are some device available in eBay you can buy to hook up. But they're expensive. So better get an FM transmitter that available at many computer shops

ZVM user community worldwide are highly recommending using the PSP charger as cheaper yet quality alternative to the expensive original ZVM charger.

So far I heard no news of bad effect of using PSP charger

No idea about 2nd hand one. Most ZVM owner like to keep theirs since ZVM is used to be among the world's best MP3/MP4 player (in fact some still claims that its still the world best due to its outstanding video capability, its even outmatched the Zen X-Fi in video)

For new one, most shops sell at RM699 (30GB) or maybe less since we're in economic recession this year. That comes with cheap stock earphone, no wall charger, and no pouch.

For 60GB version, I think its around RM999, but comes along with wall charger

But several month ago I found at Best Denki at MidValley sells ZVM 30GB at RM499!! A huge discount!! But I see only green color, don't know whether got other colors. Its worth to look around, beside you jalan jalan tgk barang kat MidValley

Wah, so fast my ZVM two years and one month old oredi. Time flies very fast. Still serving me well also.

It's very surprising, since my read-up at creative forums show that most people's ZVM never last this long. Sumore mine suffered two accidental drops cool.gif

Anyone know where I can buy replacement back cover? Mine has a ding on one corner from a drop, want to change it off.
