Hey supazta!

Congrats on your new purchase!!! Hope you are enjoying every second of it...

As for the antenna, I think any headphone/earphone should be fine. I use a Grado SR60, and FM was okey. As long the cable is not shielded lar...(which you can only find for headphones > RM500)

Please give a pic review of the InvisibleShield when you get hold of it! There has been a lot of talk of shield vs. silicon lately... Which retailer u got it from? USD25 including shipping?

Do you mean you want a music splitter??
*
No no, actually I wanted a L shaped Mini Jack extension, but the next best thing is the Logitech la... But it does serve the purpose, plus it has an extra mini jack to share, in the rare case that I need to...

For me, 3 hours of TV shows, no problem. Music only, whole day (12 hours) using my Grado SR60. These cans drains quite a bit of juice. BTW, I always put 100% brightness.. smile.gif

supazta: are your pictures properly scaled? it happened to me a couple of times, because I loaded a ton of 6MP pictures! After a while (around 50 pics viewing) the ZVM heats up and hangs... I guess overheat issue.. just scale down the pics la...

does ZVM play DivX/xVid file format that usually are used by movies and tv series?
*
Yup! It can play most latest downloaded movies, i.e. DivX 4, 5 and Xvid (in SP - Simple Profile mode). Only much older movies (based on DivX 3) are not supported.

im quite concerned of having not enough space for my harddisk(where i store all my pics)..so my pics never exceeded 2mp...

so..whats the prob eyh?
*
Try to make it 320x240 la...because:

1. it's the native resolution of the ZVM screen
2. it saves a lot of space on the ZVM...

QUOTE(ben_ang @ Jul 7 2006, 07:33 PM)
i wonder if there is a program telling u tat d file is not playable b4 i send it 2 ZVM?.. or i'll hav 2 test in d player 1 by 1 instead i can straight away notice it n convert it 2 a playable format...?
*
Hey Ben,

There is two ways to approach this. Basically, there is two ways to copy files into ZVM.

Method 1: Via Windows Media Player (WMP) - also known as MTP device method.
By using this method, WMP does not really perform a check whether it can play the video file before uploading. You can use a third party free program called GSpot to determine whether it's DivX 4 & 5 or Xvid. This is my preferred method, coz I hate installing Creative drivers.

Method 2: Using the Creative software. This software does actually perform the check, and based on option, it will help you to convert unplayable files to playable format.

So take your pick. Anyway, I have found only two file of video that does not play properly:

1. DivX version 3, very rare, unless the file was encoded > 2 years ago.
2. Any movie files with AC3 (surround sound). I usually don't download these kind of files, because it's too large (usually 50% larger than normal files), and I don't have surround hardware anyway.

Hope this helps you to make your purchase, Ben.

woot, just got my creative zen two days ago..costs me around RM 1270..now discharging my battery..any faster way except play audio for 14 hours consecutively or 4 hours of video non-stop...kinda slow..=.="

lol, i don't even know how to use the FM radio to get the radio channel that i wanted..=P
*
nimloth32: Where did u get it from? BTW, I think ZVM has Li-Ion batteries, not really a good idea to dischage until 0%. Not that healthy for the battery.

QUOTE(supazta @ Jul 9 2006, 05:02 PM)
yea...how can i set the frequency of the fm radio without using the autoscan option?
it didnt detect hitz and fly fm!
*
OK guys, I have figured out how to make the FM work for you. Please note I am using firmware version 1.41.01.

FM Radio => Press Play/Pause button, you will notice the word "Preset x" turn on or off (where x could be 1-20). Press the Play/Pause button until the "Preset x" is turned off, then using the left and right button to manually tune. Hold down left or right to scan forward/backward.

Hope this helps.

is it possible because of the incoming sms into my hp..the zvm freezes?
coz i did hear some strange noise before it stuck..

while it was rebuilding the data..the screen became really weird...take a look at the pic..
*
SMS? Hmm... very wierd.. ZVM does not have any wireless capability... Your screen does look wierd... Two things I can suggest:

1. Upgrade to firmware 1.41.01 again, if you have already done so.
2. Return for warranty.

okok, i read bout it d..but the thing is..once i plug my ZVM into my computer via USB port, i thought it automatically recharging from USB d??..how to prevent that from happening?
*
Well, there is three "simple" ways to prevent this.

1. Charge via power first until 100%, then connect USB to sync.
2. Plug in and turn on power and connect to USB at same time.
3. Plug into USB as usual, but cepat cepat sync then unplug USB smile.gif

Your pick... Hope this helps.

ben_ang:

In ZVM, there are three modes when playing videos.

1. Original Size = dun really get what this mean, as it does not have any effect. You though use this options as "Original Ratio" smile.gif

2. Fit to Screen = same as below...

3. Stretch to Full = for widescreen stuff, it simply stretches the video upwards and downwards, making Fox Mulder looking like an elongated alien himself tongue.gif

But for me, since the ZVM screen is hi-res enough, I don't really have issues watching widescreens with the black bar...

supazta:

Assuming your are using WMP 9, for pictures, I recommend that you turn off the auto-sync.

I actually copied the pictures by folder, by using Windows Explorer.

For MP3, this method does not work, because if you noticed, ZVM organizes the music not by folders that we create, but uses the MP3 Tag and sorted by Artist. What this means that irregardless how u organize your music on your computer, it will end up as Artists in ZVM. I guess that is why you need WMP to sync music.

For pictures, it's not a problem, because there is no "Tag" for pictures, therefore you can safely copy the pictures by folder directly into ZVM.

Dudes i've got some questions on this gadget..
when you all watch movie on it, is it a little too small?
Can see subtitles if watching foreign movie?
If use it to read ebooks, is it alright or too small?

Not sure whether to get Zen Vision or Zen Vision M........
*
1. Is the screen too small? - Really pref based... If you are used to PSP screen, then it might be to small. If you are used to staring at your phone screen whole day, then ZVM is a pleasure to watch...

2. Subtitles - If you are talking about .SUB files, then unfortunately ZVM does not support. If the subtitles are embedded into the movie file itself, then no problem... You'll understand what I mean if you are an Anime fan...

3. Ebooks - erm...no support yet. No PDF/ebook support available yet.

4. Zen Vision or ZVM? Ask supazta.. smile.gif If you ask me, for the $$$, get ZVM...

supazta:

On the battery issue, technically, it would be better to leave it charging, coz the battery stops charging when it gets full, then if the ZVM is continued to be plugged into AC, then ZVM will use the AC power (instead of using battery). Modern devices stops charging the battery when it is full.

All batteries have life time cycles, e.g. most mobile battery can only last for 500 charges, so battery life = number of times you charge, not how many hours you use it...

so after the 500times..are we able to change the batt?
must send back to creative or something?
*
Well... if you are a heavy user like me... (i.e. 15 hours of music/day) 500 times => 1 charge per day = almost two years... smile.gif But that time, wouldn't you want something better? smile.gif

I have heard that there are replacement batteries, from Creative. Not so sure about the price though. Let me ask around first.

About accessories, I totally understand dude, no one sells any spare part. Not even the big Creative shop in entrance of Plaza Low Yat.

nimloth32:

For Zen Vision, the battery is easily replaceable, like mobile phone battery. For ZVM, it's like iPod, which you need specialist to crack open the case to replace the battery.

After 500 charges, batteries will still work, just it might not retain the charge that long. E.g. if when you buy new, one charge = 15 hours, after 500 change, each charge probably last 4-5 hours.
