Wonder what tactics will jose deploy tonight..counter-attacking would suit us i think.city's defense hasn't been secure lately.down to kompany's absence i guess.hard to call this one, but a narrow win would do just fine.

Has schurrle recovered?seemed to be icing his ankle after the schalke match.

Snail-like build-up play. Don't think torres and mata weren't that bad either.lampard and oscar should've been off.the former much, much earlier.

Ya loh. Should have been an easy win considering Newcastle current form. Oscar is poor the whole game. Dunno why mou sub Mata instead of him.
*
Exactly.he was much, much worse than mata today..couldn't get my head around the subs.except for the schurrle one.hmm..still a lot of work to be done. Quite strange as most of the team were reasonably well rested.too much tinkering maybe?

Lampard really reallyy kenot week in week out already lah.this one i paling kenot understand

I do believe his age is slowly but surely beginning to show.

Too patient build up from the team. Understandable considering Newcastle defend deep. The team should have try to get as much set piece as possible. That the only way to score against such a tactic. First half was OK. 2nd half, the team look off key in both defend and attack.
*
Too patient is a pretty good description actually.many times we see our attacking players bursting forward when we dispossess them in midfield, but 99% of the time we play it safe, slow things down and pass it backwards.

P.s : what's with this bloody reluctance to cross as well??

Put that down to two mistakes by cech. Awful defending and goalkeeping.any notion to sell courtois should be thrown out the window. I think we're in real trouble here guys..

Ivanovic should never have been reinstated as first choice RB imo. Atrocious going forward.slow coming back.

Sigh.the problems were already pretty damn obvious against schalke..and a fair few games before that, mind u.i'm just surprised jose hasn't addressed them. The supposedly 'big' wins have masked our issues fairly well,it has to be said.

Impressed with the fightback. But its pretty hard on the baggies.

For the record,it was a penalty.defender barged into him, pretty obvious imo.surprised the pundits are getting their knickers in a twist. that's another point i'd like to emphasise which is how ramires won that pen, by joining up in attack.he doesn't do that NEARLY enough these days.

Roman, time to take out your cheque book. Say hello to Falcao! I'm afraid of Roman not being patient actually....rmb what happen to AVB, Scolari? >_< Roman is mad sometimes.
*
Trust me,even the mutant lovechild of falcao and cavani would flop at the bridge. The midfield in front of the back four is simply not good enough, and as a result we move the ball at a snail's pace.good coaches like Steve clarke will sniff that out in no time, and cut off our supply lines to the forwards within minutes. Having iva as a RB and a right footed azpi on the left only compounds the problem.

+1 to Azpi playing at LB. You have Cole, 1 of the best current left back in the world. And you played Azpi?

Iva since long time ago I see him as Terry's successor. The moment he start playing at RB, I wad like 'what....'

So Mou, start Cole at LB and Azpi at RB for the next game.
*
Actually i'd much prefer bertrand at the moment.cole has been a bit too casual in certain games, but certainly no worse than lampsy who has the complete trust of mourinho..for some reason.

Berty can at least do better when he's on the ball. Having said that, azpi has been superb with his defending, but he just can't exhibit his true potential playing on the wrong side, which is such a shame.

If we're going to shake things up,i'd love to see some boldness in the pivot combo.try a ramires and oscar combo..heck even a de bruyne and mikel combo surely can't do any worse?try something different, because it clearly is the most dysfunctional part of the team atm.

yet again.lampard.play. too much sentiment.between mou n him. come on la
*
I suspect there's some of that as well.too much sentiment is never a good thing. Same is happening with oscar.he's as hardworking as ever, but his mojo in attack is slowly disappearing. That's enough reason to warrant an early Sub today actually.

with all due respect. who barged into who?

Thanks for the input mate, but my opinion stands.a few points will illustrate my perspective:

Was reid going for the ball?
- No

Was there contact?
-Yes definitely, initiated by reid as well.

Was the contact enough for it to be deemed a foul?
-Observe the speed of ramires when he was bursting into the box,and his small physique, most definitely.a slight barge is all it takes for him to be sent flying.

But having said that,if it was lampard/terry/demba ba/ivanovic tumbling down in the same manner, then yes it would be very questionable.it would still be a foul, but most probably not enough to bring players with that kind of stature down, hence the pen wouldn't be given.

QUOTE(CityBluePrint @ Nov 10 2013, 05:22 PM)
Its a penalty.

3. Professional Foul. Those who played football understand what Reid was trying to do. Watch Reid left shoulder dipped subtly for the 'elbowing'.
*
This. I have skinny futsal mates who just can't withstand forceful but fair tackles from the side or even slight nudges from behind ,as they'll end up falling over forwards. It has a lot to do with their speed and weight, apart from the fact that it simply doesn't make sense to try and 'win' penalties in a game purely organised for fun!

Iva should start to learn how to cross low, sagna did a few great cross yesterday vs MU.
*
Haih i do feel that playing azpi on the right vs wba could've made a world of difference, purely on his crossing ability and pace alone.

For the amount of space and time iva was afforded on the ball, the quality of his crossing was quite embarrassing. I love brana, but if he doesn't improve that aspect of his game, azpi should rightly take his place. Its well worth sacrificing that slight aerial advantage imo. Azpi was no slouch under benitez, and hopefully jose will realise this soon.
