Sigh..i understand there's a lot of talk about mata adapting to the system, but i for one believe he has put in some great shifts under jose (although not outstanding, but u can argue its due to a lack of playing time) and our failure to dispatch the chances he creates has actually put him under a bad light.
A simple example was vs Swansea when eto'o was put clean through twice, but wasted both chances. I refuse to believe a player as talented as juan has gone bad overnight, and his constant withdrawal from the team will not help him one bit.look,i love oscar's workrate and tackling as much as the next guy,but i feel that's just not the primary job of a no.10, and the creativity which juan brings to the team is unrivaled, where if u take that as their main responsibility, then he trumps oscar every time. Even now,u can see juan is tracking back much more these days and putting in some well timed challenges.the only thing which may deceive people into thinking he's not as 'hardworking' as hazard or oscar is because he's not as speedy as them. This is grossly unfair,as that's akin to expecting lamps to close down players as quickly as azpi. We also have to admit there have been a few times where you've felt like pulling your hair out watching oscar this season, yet jose persists with him.its abundantly clear he's one of his favourites and i've grown to reluctantly accept that. Therefore whatever happens in the transfer window, whether he leaves or not i wish him all the best. The lad deserves much better,u can be sure about that.but if he pushes for a move in January,i think Chelsea fc will be the biggest losers,as clubs will always use the midseason / cup-tied excuse to bring down the price, and we've become somewhat 'experts' when it comes to undervaluing our own players. That, apart from the fact that we're losing a mercurial talent of course. I know it's hoping against hope, but i wish he stays. This post has been edited by Kerplunk: Jan 2 2014, 01:01 PM |

QUOTE(briantwj @ Jan 2 2014, 01:43 PM) Imo, Mou is trying to play a high pressing game from high up the pitch. Meaning that the striker and the 3 AM needs to work and press the opposition when we don't have the ball. Something like Pochetino's tactic for S'ton. Oscar is a willing worker. Mata to be honest, is not adapted to it. Oscar and Mata both are quality players. But both with different styles. Oscar is more all round, and a runner. While Mata's quality is in his through pass, his vision, his pin point cross and superb pass. So actually, it is a bit unfair to compare Oscar and Mata. It's just a pity that Mou's strategy is more suited to Oscar and not Mata. Sigh. Whatever Mata's decision it, I will respect it. This guy gave us 2 superb season as the player of the season. Hats off to him. Think of it as Oscar - Kaka (finisher) Mata - Xavi (a Xavi playing in more forward position) To fully get the best out of Mata, we need a top top predatory striker. Some one that plays at the lines, some one like Chicarito. Yep i do agree if we just put away those chances that he creates ,the manager will surely realise his true value to the team. At the moment,we've been thrown into some 'desperate defending' situations in the past few games,so that's the time when oscar really shines. If he does head for the exit in the end, anything below £40mil would be a joke imo. Knowing chelsea though,we'd probably end up with around £35mil. He might still be used as a bargaining chip for diego costa,if we're that desperate for a striker. Well..at least piazon's having a blinder at vitesse. But i'm still worried that he might not track back well enough to be deemed worthy of a starting berth by mourinho. Lampard's departure might help the situation though.
