The way I do is,

Factory wipe first
Clear cache
Clear dalvic
Then flash rom and gapps

Never use titanium backup to restore system apps.

Don't have.

Last time google reader pro app have.
But I turn it off. Because if have notification when every new news arrive,
Phone will explode. So so so many news coming in all the time.
I have 30+ subscription.

i am using slimbean 4.2.2 build 8

my keyboard never force close before.
you got flash gapps? for slimbean, no need to flash gapps.
the rom itself have play store already. all the other gapps are downloadable from the play store



i tried slimbean 4.3, its like a downgrade from 4.2
similar to cm10.2, the aosp browser is so laggy, its worst than s2 on gingerbread.
and the camera is so terrible in terms of control.

on any 4.2 rom, i also get the android OS reported very high in battery usage.
wether is aokp, cm, slimbean, or even leak touch wiz 4.2 like neat and wanamlite.
i grumble in xda, but member told me is battery reporting error. doesnt impact battery life. still get awesome screen on time.

"once you go 4.3, you'll never go 4.2".??
i use awhile instantly feel its a downgrade.
laggy browser, hopelessly featureless camera.

every xtra custom rom feature are identical for 4.2 and 4.3
in fact 4.2 is more consistently smooth. 4.3 sometimes in the settings will lag abit when scroll.
and the recent app list scroll also will have lag occasionally.

probably wait when 4.4 out and 4.3 stable d then only i switch

for the android OS battery drain, for a long time i just accept it as battery reporting error.
but it seems to be a real issue. not that my battery life is bad. i can last a whole day 16-17 hours for my usage.

one of my nav ring in slimbean is ime switcher, easy job

Custom aosp camera in aokp, cm and slim bean have a lot option.
Can change shooting modes, scenes, and focus mode.
At least in 4.2.

Current 4.3 custom aosp rom their camera all back to square one, empty.
All the OS fan boys keep saying 4.3 way better, but to me, it have more bugs.
Apps like super beam which I use as s beam replacement don't work in 4.3.
Some tasker action are not supported in 4.3,
Camera is a obvious downgrade.
Aosp browser no longer have butter, scrolling Is very very laggy. Xda member admitted is due to lack of source from Samsung. What most people do is use dolphin or chrome.

Xda members advice me to use focal, and dolphin browser.
But in reality focal is terribly unstable and dolphin don't sync with google bookmark.

I'm still testing cm 10.2 every week, to check for camera and browser improvement.
But so far no luck. Using slimbean 4.2 as daily driver with yank kernel.

By the way forgot to mention.

I just bought 3000 mah official Samsung extended battery.

Problem is, my phone is white but the back cover is blue.

I'm hoping if someone with blue phone and white back cover wana exchange me.

Not sure it's the same miui that I flash few days back.

That rom deleted everything in my internal memory card. Because 4.2 onwards, Internet memory stored in /0 folder in data partition.
So during 4.1 format system it deleted everything.

Better do internal memory backup when jumping between 4.1 and 4.2 rom

same also, use lmt launcher, set one of the buttons to be gmail or any app u want. then on ANY screen at all, swipe from bottom to that gmail button to go to gmail. you can set many many apps. since there is long press button supported.


If you're using aosp roms,
Enable navigation bar, then you can get nav ring targets.set whatever actions you like.

4.2 also net yet get, wana get 4.3 lol...
maybe 3 months after 4.4 announce then only get la.

3rd day with the official 3000mah batter.

16 hours 44 mins since discharging
5 hour 6 mins screen on
1 hour 31 mins voice call

one thing i really hate about smart phone is the battery life
using custom kernel, underclock, etc can only get you so far,
getting a bigger battery is the real solution.
