hi, i'm new in keeping arowana.....
anyone can advise what are the basic requirements to start with besides having an aquarium (>2ft long), air pump and water filter?
thanks.
it's my dream to keep arowana as pet ( i think i will start with pearl arowana or silver).

what i mean is, is arowana very sensitive to water temperature, pH, etc?
i am very worry that the arowana is a very/ more sensitive fish than other fish.
if that so i will wasted a fish for RM30++ (for a small silver arowana) or even more expensive price i have to paid for the fish food or threatment.

anyway, thanks.

thanks....
what i do not understand is what is soft water?
how to measure the standard? any method (which is cheap or not very expensive)?
actually...i'm a poor guy with huge dream
wakaka

one more thing, how long is an arowana can live (if no sickness/ ailments)? is it about human age= 50 years?
it might be a joke if one believe that aro can live until 50years of age.
haha
but i have read that japanese koi can live until 50 years (if i'm not mistaken).

go for Pearl laaa NOT silver
Or look for Pearl Jardini
who knows, you have luck enough to own Super Red Jardini like me rclxm9.gif
*
i see.......
u bought pearl arowana, but u get super red jardini
haha.....
u r very lucky, i believe that super red jardini is much more worth than pearl & silver.
after u rear that fish big enough (maybe 3 ft longer), u can sell & earn $$$

i bought 1 pearl aro yesterday, i need to know whether if i can feed it with worms (kinda hard shell, but small size). the worker from the fish shop say it is ok if it didn't eat for first 3 days in order to adapt to new environment...
what else should i do next?
sweat.gif
oh yea, i heard that i have to put sands into my aquarium (soft sands) so that the aro's eyes won't look underneath....
is that true?

thanks for ur help.

aros are like human being
when they feel like to eat, the will eat
BUT when they son't want it, they will ignore it

feed your fish once in 2 days for aro in new tank
normally like that since changing environment
patience my young padawan
*
ic.....
then i should feed it & the other fish once every 3 days.

biggrin.gif .. my greenie and indo gold both big eater...

each time i go fs i buy rm 6 feeder ( 2 pack of rm 3 each @ 30 pieces ) and rm 4 crics..  and i go back to the fs every 3 days once to restore supply of food..

each meal i feed them for crics.. each 20 pieces and not counting the feeder fish i left inside the tank..

hard to belive?  rclxms.gif  believe it.. my wife and my fren all saz its crazy until they see with their own eyes...

last time also small eater until i change to nutrafin aquaplus and azoo vitamin...
(give them two squeeze of vitamin daily)

btw.. the greenie just aroun 9 inch and the indo gold around 8 inch only.

the only problem i have is the water get dirty very fast and have to watch out for their tail for rot due to a lot of poo poo...

last but Not least.. share a piece of information with all aro lovers out there..
the cricz in Penang is triple the size down here in KL.. damn huge.. if anyone go there buy 1000 pcs back and rear them..  icon_idea.gif wont regret it.

just sharing my findings with all of u
*
what vitamin u r using?
is that necessary to help increase the aro apetite to eat more?
hope it's affordable to buy the vitamins for my aro........
how often u drop the vitamins for one aro of urs?
thanks for the sharing here

SPEED SP- 7800
or maybe i feed it with redworms (freezed), after few hours it became crazy (try jumping out of the tank).
firstly, i thought it try to chase the small fish.
then, i saw it has become hurting itself.
i finally put my finger into the water & feel that there's electricity from the water.

i was frighten, i then change 15% of the water & put aquarium salt (hope to calm it down)
who knows, it became weaker (faint)
.......died

cause they don plan to keep those fish ma....theirs is for sale....after a while....the fish will be gone....urs gonna be there like maybe 5-8 yrs ?...i dono la thats what i know....even some old folks also told me about this before.....if got 2 deck....arowana must be on top.....bottom can be any other fish....but if put aro bottom and other fish on top...they say not good...
*
u know y the old folks (chinese only) said not good to put arowana at the bottom of another aquarium?
because they believe that arowana can bring good fortune to them......
if u put the arowana under another fish, that means u r disrespect the fish & will get bad luck.
i have heard some fish that can bring good fortune & money, those r japanese koi, gold fish, arowana, & flower horn (for the past few years, these fish r very popular)

well...... that's all i want to share
