QUOTE(lily64my @ Oct 15 2013, 04:59 PM) Hi... hows the progress? I cant do anythi g cause got water problem. Scared to do wc for old tank and new tank...project delayed now. First commandos are KIA Second batch... Ms. Rambo is doing fine so far. Gonna add the rest tomorrow. Having 2 tanks at work is attracting too much unnecessary attention. QUOTE(ghoss @ Oct 21 2013, 10:58 AM) LOL ~~ Guess they want to bring it back They're damn messy eater.I wonder how long does it take for my tank water to be clear Still haven't found a solution to keep the tank clean without too much housekeeping. Btw, if nothing disturbs the substrate and with the filter running, won't be long maybe a day or two. |

QUOTE(arrow @ Oct 21 2013, 03:25 PM) Shrimps just too fragile to avoid casualty, at least you able to bring them home alive, i once bought 10 sulawesi shrimp at RM18 each , died in bag halfway home Was thinking the same, is there a better way to transport shrimps back from shop instead of the usual tar pau style?QUOTE(GTBlackIce @ Oct 21 2013, 04:12 PM) No space for me to put a feeding dish... so usually just 'target-feed' i.e using the tweezer to drop the food where I wanted it... but still get moved around anyway... Oh my bro... that seriously hurts!!! 180 bucks gone just like that without the chance to enjoy viewing it in your tank? Sheesh... You got it from Sulawesi itself or? Well, at least I don't feel that bad about my casualties now... hehe... |

I was thinkin that since shrimps like stability. Would it make sense to just top up with RO water and only do water changes once tds increase to a certain level. What do you guys and gal think?
------------- Bored. Click if you're too and wants to watch 2 minutes of cherry shrimps going about doing their own thing. This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Oct 22 2013, 08:15 PM |

QUOTE(arrow @ Oct 23 2013, 12:20 AM) lot of ppl use 100% RO water for their high value crs tank, adjust the mineral and tds by using additives. Thanks. I've got some crushed/powdered mineral stones under the gravelYou can do that with adding RO water during water change like 10% each time, but sooner or later tds will drop if don't have stuff to keep the tds slowly increase like mineral stone. with the frequent water change, else can add in some mineral powder during the water change to compensate. Beside TDS, gh will also be affected. QUOTE(GTBlackIce @ Oct 23 2013, 09:30 AM) Well, wasn't bored but still watch through the whole 2mins... That's me. The tank is only like 40+cm away from me on my desk so reflection is inevitable Was that you or another person standing and admiring the tank? Been using RO water all these while so can't comment. Still do my weekly ~20% wc with at least 1 day aged primed RO. Using the UP Aqua bucket... freaking convenient. Just turn the tap slightly and let the water trickle slowly...move on to do other things...about couple of hours later tank's filled up again Getting water out is quick...getting water back in.... Yeah I got the micro version of that drip bucket too. Very convenient device. |

QUOTE(arrow @ Oct 23 2013, 05:55 PM) The video ca be use as screen saver. You use mini tripod. So smooth. No shaking. The floating plant like cloud moving to breezing wind. Yeah... once things settle down a bit, I'll add a nerite snail or two.Add some sulawesi rabbit orange or yellow snail will be very nice. |

QUOTE(GTBlackIce @ Oct 24 2013, 09:23 AM) Horned nerites would be nice as they don't grow that big. Is there a difference between horned and regular nerite snail? They look similar to me.http://www.planetinverts.com/horned_nerite_snail.html Got 6 of them in my tank and could hardly see it.....likely coz I've got quite some hiding space in the tank. Will add them later on cos currently algae is kept at bay by the floating plants. The shrimps seems to love playing tarzan on them too. |

Just saw one of the shrimps flip upside down. Have removed it and found this next it
Looks like a leech and it can swim in S pattern. It's between 1cm to 3cm (when stretched) The photo is when it stretched itself. Is this the killer? ![]() This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Oct 25 2013, 02:57 PM |
