First commandos are KIA sad.gif due to command error ie. Me doh.gif

Second batch... Ms. Rambo is doing fine so far.

Gonna add the rest tomorrow. Having 2 tanks at work is attracting too much unnecessary attention.

Got 3 casualty today...2 of yellow and one cherry.. lately also had one or 2 casualty in cherry...could be the planaria biting them...
They are lesser now after 24 7 trapping.. but got this small white bug..they like to be in a group...dunno how to trap them or where they come from..

How to do that?

Use no planaria to nuke them.

On another note... migrated all my shrimps to the new tank. So far so good.

Really like your moss carpet, just don't like the idea of having those stainless steel mesh underneath it.
*
Risk of rust?

Didn't have much of a choice as I wanted a low tech carpet.

stainless steel mesh won't rust, but the edge are quite sharp to my liking.

Why?

It's way down there next to gravel where the shrimps can't really get to.

I wonder how long does it take for my tank water to be clear  sweat.gif

They're damn messy eater.

Still haven't found a solution to keep the tank clean without too much housekeeping.

Btw, if nothing disturbs the substrate and with the filter running, won't be long maybe a day or two.

Damn stone lah...one by one they went and move it outside.

[/@arrow] No planaria works on nematodes? Kinda regret I didn't opt for the nuke option earlier. Now catching nematodes that's slowly appearing. Today already caught 4.

Shrimps just too fragile to avoid casualty, at least you able to bring them home alive,  i once bought 10 sulawesi shrimp at RM18 each , died in bag halfway home tongue.gif
*
Was thinking the same, is there a better way to transport shrimps back from shop instead of the usual tar pau style?

QUOTE(GTBlackIce @ Oct 21 2013, 04:12 PM)
laugh.gif Very hardworking shrimps you got there bro....

No space for me to put a feeding dish... so usually just 'target-feed' i.e using the tweezer to drop the food where I wanted it... but still get moved around anyway...  blush.gif
shocking.gif  shocking.gif  doh.gif
Oh my bro... that seriously hurts!!! 180 bucks gone just like that without the chance to enjoy viewing it in your tank? Sheesh...

You got it from Sulawesi itself or?

Well, at least I don't feel that bad about my casualties now... hehe...  blush.gif
*
I do that too.. using tweezers to drop at a particular place but it ends up all over the place. With a small tank, all those food pieces and shrimp poo can really accumulate fast.

I was thinkin that since shrimps like stability. Would it make sense to just top up with RO water and only do water changes once tds increase to a certain level. What do you guys and gal think?

-------------

Bored. Click if you're too and wants to watch 2 minutes of cherry shrimps going about doing their own thing. laugh.gif

lot of ppl use 100% RO water for their high value crs tank, adjust the mineral and tds by using additives.
You can do that with adding RO water during water change like 10% each time, but sooner or later tds will drop if don't have stuff to keep the tds slowly increase like mineral stone.
with the frequent water change, else can add in some mineral powder during the water change to compensate. Beside TDS, gh will also be affected.
*
Thanks. I've got some crushed/powdered mineral stones under the gravel

Well, wasn't bored but still watch through the whole 2mins...  laugh.gif
Was that you or another person standing and admiring the tank?  rolleyes.gif

Been using RO water all these while so can't comment. Still do my weekly ~20% wc with at least 1 day aged primed RO. Using the UP Aqua bucket... freaking convenient. Just turn the tap slightly and let the water trickle slowly...move on to do other things...about couple of hours later tank's filled up again  biggrin.gif

Getting water out is quick...getting water back in....  sweat.gif
*
That's me. The tank is only like 40+cm away from me on my desk so reflection is inevitable laugh.gif

Yeah I got the micro version of that drip bucket too. Very convenient device.

The video ca be use as screen saver. You use mini tripod. So smooth. No shaking. The floating plant like cloud moving to breezing wind.
Add some sulawesi rabbit orange or yellow snail will be very nice.
*
Yeah... once things settle down a bit, I'll add a nerite snail or two.

Horned nerites would be nice as they don't grow that big.
http://www.planetinverts.com/horned_nerite_snail.html

Got 6 of them in my tank and could hardly see it.....likely coz I've got quite some hiding space in the tank.
*
Is there a difference between horned and regular nerite snail? They look similar to me.

Will add them later on cos currently algae is kept at bay by the floating plants. The shrimps seems to love playing tarzan on them too.

actually nerite snail is not that suitable in tank with ph lower then 7.6 as their shell will gradually erode and eventually lead to their died.
Nerite snail stay/look the best in brackish tank.
*
My tank lower than ph7.5 wor? So if I add them in = death sentence?

Just saw one of the shrimps flip upside down. Have removed it and found this next it sad.gif

Looks like a leech and it can swim in S pattern. It's between 1cm to 3cm (when stretched)

The photo is when it stretched itself. Is this the killer?
