hi guys
want to ask few question
usually how many time u guys do water change and how many % (for nano tank)?
"jentik-jentik" are dangerous to shrimp and baby shrimp?
*
My daily working day routine. Use plastic spoon below to scoop up one paper cup of tank water (cos I still have this oil slick issue) and replenish with one cup of RO water re-mineralized with Up Aqua GH Builder. The replenishment cup sitting on top of my HOB filter has a small hole in it so it'll drip very slowly... ~ 45 mins to drip the cup"

Nice tank. What plants are those? Your marimo carpets have turned light green. Maybe can put a sponge filter for some surface agitation so the oil won't build up?
*
Just petite nana. Must do some overdue cleaning. The carpet is like a magnet for all sorts of crap.

I'm already running an air line but it doesn't seem to help.

edit: Now that you metioned it... it does seem the marimos were not as dark as before. It seems they've grown this furry bit on top. Any remedies?

happy little shrimps, but why your Marimo turning brown? or it's the light source? lol
my own experience, when lights on, all the fauna in the tanks are freak out, which includes Otto. After a while, all things back to normal.
*
I also think too much light.

i'm using Azoo 4in1 filter media in one of my tank, i notice it increase GH and tds cos inside the tank like yours only
got moss & benibachi mineral rock. KH i didn't test but is suspect this will raise too cos it also increase my PH.

Yeah... thinking of switching them out for some regular ceramic rings since they've been in use for almost a year. Should I switch 50% at a time?

Yes. Dont switch 100% , else tank cycle reset.
Put 50% new 50% old. Let it run for 2 week.
Then put in the other half but don't take out the old media first, transfer them inside the tank beneath the filter inlet. After two more week only take out the old media.
*
Thanks for the headsup.

Went to get myself some regular rings then noticed LFS started carrying Power House medias.. so hand itchy again and moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif

Perhaps something other than your water parameters are killing your shrimps i.e. airborne pollutants? Tested your water parameters?
*
Yup.. Ph no change, Kh no change, Gh up 1 degree since 2-3 weeks ago, ammonia/no3/no4 all undetectable, TDS stable.

If not mistaken u r using a paper cup to top up water everyday? Could it because the paper cup u used? There is a layer of wax, maybe the vendor change to different material(wax) which release toxic to the water?
*
Hmmm... maybe.

Think I'll change to plastic.

I'm quite fine, but the Neo shrimps are not  cry.gif

I only have PH and Ammonia tester now, PH is 6.0, Ammonia 0.

I'm sure the TDS should not be lower than 160 since I'm using tap water with Tension Gon anti-chlorine.

Some of them died after molt, some of them just died with no reason.

btw, Im thinking of buying a GH tester, any idea which of the brands out there should I buy? Some of my buddies said the API GH tester is very difficult to differentiate between colors while Sera is better, other said otherwise... So i'm kinda confuse now  shakehead.gif
*
I'm using API. Its easy to tell the color change when you have the tube against a white background
