.thumbnail can be easily turned off by disabling thumbnail view. But not with osx. Need to use third party hack.

You are right. Since, I really do not see any thumbnail file on the drive. biggrin.gif

i use magic mouse only when i need precision, such as doing editing that need sliders etc, otherwise i prefer the trackpad  tongue.gif
the magic mouse is great function wise, but ergonomics...  doh.gif

Apple's trackpad is the best trackpad I've ever used. I've always hated using trackpads, until I bought my first Mac.

Bought an apple mac and Office mac 2011.
Planning to use Microsoft's spreadsheet (.xlsx) in Mac.
After first try creating tables, charts in office mac everything look fine.
But when i try copy the .xlsx over to Windows and try  to read those .xlsx worksheet files on Windows Office 2010.
It will not display the tables and charts (in Windows Office 2010).
later find out that i have to create a new worksheet (in Windows), rearrange the worksheets' windows ( in cascade ), only than the .xlsx worksheet from the office mac can be displayed in office windows.
So at the end, am still using the office windows.
*
If you continue to use it, you will found that the pixels of fonts on mac to windows are totally different. sad.gif
And ability to write advanced macro in excel is removed. Too many sad things in office 2011. mad.gif

I second that.

The gestures are awesome.

But sometimes people will ask me how do I use the trackpad because it does not have button lol.

The Mac changed everything I know about trackpads. From atrocious to actually usable and fun. The gestures make everything fast and fluid.

Returning to using my work laptop without a mouse now requires tremendous hair-pulling effort sad.gif

icon_question.gif I need some advise to save my macbook pro.

I installed both Windows and Mac OS in my macbook pro (edition 2010).
The HDD capacity 369.37GB is divided into half for each operating system.

But, recently, when I on my mac, it shows ' Your startup disk is full'. I noticed my Mac OS 184.68GB capacity suddenly left with 115.4MB. I moved all my photos, movies and songs to an external hdd. But, the free capacity did not improved.

I followed some web guidelines to install OmniDiskSweeper and realised my name sparsebundle has taken up 170GB. I wondered how to save my macbook sad.gif

FYI, I never maintain my macbook in terms of its capacity throughout this 3 years. Please advise. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

that looks like backup from your timemachine backup software. Open them up and clear all of them. Then do a fresh new backup.

if you have difficulty removing it, you might need to use commandline to do it. Google for "removing sparsebundle bands" and you will see a few sites with instructions how to do it.

also..would like to tell everyone, I am 90% decided to go back to windows. While it has been a fun few weeks with os x, I am not seeing the advantage of using osx over windows. Everything that osx can do windows also can do and better too. Osx also have it's advantages too but for my requirement, windows out-weight osx.

The question that made me decided to go back is this:
Can I live with osx (without windows vm or dualboot)? Answer is NO.

May I know what are the things that Windows out-weight OSX for your requirement?

OSX install Windows VM is very easy, why is that the deciding factor?

my thought why Windows better

1. cut/copy and paste windows better
2. hidden folder not appear in OSX menu and need to use terminal command to do it
3. some program like acestream, splayer and several other is not able to run on OSX which is good for streaming and movie

more to explore as still quite new to OSX

command+delete throws the file into trash
shift+command+delete is the short cut to empty trash
command+option+delete permanently deletes the file (bypasses the above)

If you're intending to run a few graphic-intensive programs, then MacBook Pro. If you're referring to the 12" MacBook, then it's ideal if you're a light power user that uses it to run basic softwares.

1. Why is cut and paste better in windows?
2. Just 1 time only? Then you got hidden files?
3. If's it illegal one, then I have no comment, since I just torrent or use streaming websites.
If it's just for playing videos, I use MPV player which works really well and can set up to stream Twitch too biggrin.gif

If you can wait, wait for the upcoming macbook pro 13 inch.. Gonna be a refresh with new features.
Personally, I feel that Macbook is too small for my uses.. since I am using rmbp 13 inch and it lags for me..
