Generally, I don't find that using Windows consider as dark side.

Both OS has it's strength and weakness depend on the usage.
I would said windows system although has been always labelled as copy cat and virus for it's GUI prompt to get virus but in term of central control in corporate environment, game compatibility and support and low cost ( overall price including hardware) and ease of use, it really has it's strength.

I am happy to see there are forumers willing to take initiative to educate new user who aren't familiar with Mac.
However there are still vast majority of users who are still using Windows OS both at work or home, I believe they do find Windows OS appeal to them and does help them in getting their work done. The subtitle "the Dark Side to Daylight" seem to me you have labelled the system as evil, what happen to the people who still using it day to day?
BY promoting other OS system, I hope forummer could give a fair treatment to other OS and should refrain from using provoking title or phrase.
Just my 2 cents, I have no intention to start flame war.
*
Agree... will removed the sub phrase. Personally prefer Mac OS over Windows, and wonder why I'm so late in getting myself into the world of Mac OS. But still can't deny that Windows have more influence as deep down rooting into everyone's life. Don't mean to start any flame war either.

Updated some of the sections. Sorry for the slow update as I rarely have time to do so, other than weekends, and provided I did not go out somewhere during my weekends... anyway, keep the questions coming and if anyone kind enough to submit your post to me, i will help to put it up and share with everyone.

if you use microsoft office in both Windows PC and Mac, no issue with formatting.
if you use microsoft office in Windows PC while some open source word processor (like OpenOffice) in Mac... generally no issue with formatting as well.
if you use microsoft office in Windows PC while Pages on Mac... i know that the file will still be compatible, but I'm not sure whether the formatting will run a bit in this case.

Mac Users, maybe you can consider Google Apps as a replacement tool for Microsoft Office Suite?

TS, do you happen to know if there is any good app replacement for Gom Player in Windows? I know there is Gom for Mac but it was so much inferior compared to Windows version.

i nvr use GOM player before, but looking at what it do, basically it is a media player that play every single format, right?
then you can either go for MPlayerX or Movist... both app is actually very powerful! or VLC if you want.

Do they have subtitle adjustments available? Like in Gomplayer, you can adjust +0.5 sec or -0.5 sec with keyboard shortcuts.

3. Apps replacement from Windows to Mac

How about Pages vs Word, Excel vs Numbers? Would be helpful to know about the comparison as well as I think Pages is very nice to use. But just like everyone else, old PC / Word users need a lot of learning to do.

Indeed... i haven't really got my hands on those software yet as I did not buy one, I'll definitely look for some comparison in this regards. Thanks for your suggestion!

For microsoft office in Windows PC while Pages on Mac, the formatting will deviate because I have tried to open a word document in Pages but end up the formatting all mess up. Already purchased a copy of office 365 home premium for personal use..

To answer the office compatibility issue, I found out between office for windows and mac, there will be no issue on formatting.

I am trying LibreOffice. On very simple Excel, no major issue. But on Words, file with heavily formatted, i.e pics, tables, will be a mess. So, no go for me.
