W4 is having combo WiFi Bluetooth chip. According to AzureWave website, the other model AW-AH389 has dual band support: http://www.azurewave.com/product_AW-AH389_1.aspCould the AW-AH691 has dual band too...? Can any owners here confirm whether W4 supports dual band WiFi (ie 2.4 & 5GHz)...? This post has been edited by azeemzuhair: Feb 6 2014, 10:31 AM

QUOTE(marauderz @ Feb 6 2014, 10:59 PM) How can one see wheter it's running on 2.4 or 5Ghz? We can disable the 2.4Ghz at the router. Therefore, the router only emits 5Ghz freq. If the W4 can connect to the 5GHz, then, it is confirmed W4 supports dual-band WiFi. It's difficult to test at public hotspots. Need to do it at home or office. Reporting a new user. Dilemma between W4 and VivoTab Note 8. But VivoTab has 32 eMMC storage, NOT ENUF!!! So, finalised to W4.
Price : RM888.00 (after RM100 discount) Seller : Lazada.com.my Package : Tablet plus standard package/accessories only.
Reasons to use W4: 1) Outlook with HTML support on-the-go. Using Office 365 to use Outlook. 2) TeamViewer Remote/Meeting on-the-go. 3) Streaming vids at home via WiFi. 4) Miracast to 1080P TV. 5) Torrent on-the-go via MiFi/Lenovo P780. 6) Professional presentation via PowerPoint and OneDrive.
Comments after 8 hours usage: 1) "Good" and serves my needs with its compact design. 2) Must use on-screen keyboard but activate the standard keyboard at SETTINGS > CHANGE PC SETTINGS > PC & DEVICES > TYPING > turn ON the Standard Keyboard Layout as Touch Keyboard. No need bluetooth keyboard anymore. 3) Battery is EXCELLENT (new battery...?). Since last night: 4 hours WiFi Vids streaming, 8 hours torrent and net. Left 49% battery with 50% brightness.

It is great to know that the Broadcom WiFi Network module supports Dual Band GHzs. It will better if they use Intel though. Now I can conquer the 5GHz mode by myself....LOL..

So long as the output current is above 2.1A, the power bank can charge. Many PB has lower than 1A current. Be careful with dual USB charger too. If u use both USB simultaneously, the output is still less than 2A.
Charging cable does effect too. Some cable can sync&charge. Some sync only. Some charge only.

As for my 12000mAh PowerBank, it has dual USBs. One rated at 2.1A, the other is 1A. Both USBs can charge W4 with the PB cable or Acer's stock cable or any sync&charge cable. All charge with the red LED lit-up.
However, the 1A USB takes longer time (about 1 hour more than usual) to complete 100% charged state.
My PB is almost one-year -old and it is just the "universal" brand. Non-branded PB...

QUOTE(shirley_andy @ Mar 28 2014, 09:43 AM) As much as we love the desktop mode rather than the metro UI, it is hard to use the desktop mode on the 8" screen? Cuz things are small in desktop mode, unless decrease screen reso(is that possible?) I have no issue using my fingers to navigate in desktop mode. But, just keep a capacitive touch pen (can get so cheap now....) in hand in case you need it. I guess the main reason why Microsoft "recommends" vendors/manufacturers to stick to 1280x800 reso is due to the scaling engine in Windows 8 or 8.1 is still "limited". The current W4 in Windows 8.1 mode cannot change the screen reso. You can have only set 3 sizes; small, medium or large scaling.

QUOTE(Dothan @ Mar 31 2014, 05:41 PM) Just ordered one unit from Lazada and price is RM928 including free shipping. There is no other cheaper option available in Penang. All selling RM1099 which is sucks... Wise choice... not just cheaper and free shipping, Lazada also has 14-day return service. No online reseller can offer such service....

QUOTE(sbd @ Mar 31 2014, 06:25 PM) i thought lazada selling rm899 free delivery; in fact last week can get rm799 with coupon... True but limited time offer. Even that RM100 discount is based on "luck". Certain Lazada items are priced inconsistently. They can go up or down within days... It seems they force us to always check out their website/FB for special price or discount codes. This post has been edited by azeemzuhair: Mar 31 2014, 07:54 PM

QUOTE(SimonsayZ @ Apr 2 2014, 12:59 PM) That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing. I could use this on my desktop too. Sure... it will improve the audio quality by roughly 25%... depending on the media and individual ear-drums...LOL... with it running in the background, you can just set the volume to 50% and it is clear enough for ambient noise level.... But don't push it too far as it is just manipulating the sound frequencies. It's an app/equaliser... if you max everything, the sound will "crack" and your speakers will blow one day....LOL... QUOTE(Dothan @ Apr 3 2014, 09:11 AM) About the screen flickering issue, I read from a Filipino owner said disable Intel display hot key may solve this issue. But I still see occasional flickering but not so often. Another topic: Other than the Acer crutch folio case, any other recommendation? Just update to BIOS 1.13: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BI...C=ACER&SC=AAP_4

Issue : Do you feel annoy when you try to fill-up details in website (like Maybank 2U, online survey, or even the lowyat Fast Reply box), you are unable to scroll to the bottom to see because the on-screen keyboard make way...? One solution is bluetooth keyboard. But, if you don't have any, how...?
One of the solution: Enable the native/generic "physical" keyboard via: Modern Metro Settings > Change PC Settings > PC and Devices > Typing > On "Add the standard keyboard layout as a touch keyboard option".
When u see the standard keyboard, toggle the maximum icon (next to "X" icon) and you can still scroll the website/page up and down.
