Just received my miracast dongle ystd evening. Eagerly plug it on to test. TV shows dongle working & trying to connect with tablet. After a while showed failed connection. Then I disconnect my wifi from router and it got connected! It then install the drivers for the dongle. Once done installing, the extended screen came up on  the TV. I can then reconnect the wifi to surf.

Playing around the intel settings, I couldn't get it to duplicate the screen, only in extended mode like most have reported in other forums.

My experience of miracast so far:
1. have to add device & install everytime you use miracast. Win 8.1 doesn't have the dongle listed permanently like installed printers / other devices.

2. have to manually disconnect wifi router to allow dongle assign ip address with tablet before manually reconnecting with router after setup (not sure if this is same as other miracast device).

3. I get occasionally streaks of corrupt data on TV like astro when it rains. I suppose with static powerpoint presentation is less of a problem but watching video can be annoying. Good thing is that dongle remains connected & didnt drop off throughout 49mins youtube playback testing.

4. Haven't solve the extended mode problem. Using a mouse on primary screen is ok but mouse control & function in extended screen is kinda erratic. It depends on transmitted video signal & delay. So while you move the mouse, what you see on extended screen is different making control difficult. Mirror/ duplicate screen is priority in order for it to work as you can navigate on primary screen & let the TV transmission do the catch up.

Your suggestion in favour of w4 over toshiba is taken into consideration especially you appear to be someone who is well familiar with tablets pc.

Another thing is toshiba encore have better battery than dell vp, miix2 ans asus note8. I am not sure about acer w4 battery in comparison with toshiba encore.

One problem is in some countries and in amazon, toshiba encore's pricing is lower slightly than acer w4 but in Malaysia, the price is higher because they feel that for japanese products, malaysian are always willing to pay more.

Just pulled the trigger on the W4-821 (3G) for SGD599 with Acer Folio Keyboard case after much deliberation.

I had just returned the Lenovo Miix2-8 3G a week ago because of 3G connectivity issue. The Miix2 unit that i had gotten couldnt connect to 3G at all.

Anyhow, I personally prefer the W4 over the Miix2 for the following reasons.

1) Although the W4 is heavy (Toshiba Encore is the heaviest) it feel sturdy when i hold it.

2) comes with HDMI out (Encore has HDMI too)

3) 3G unit means no need to tether (another 3G model available to me is Miix2)

4) placement of the speakers at the bottom of the unit means that when u place the unit for vewing video, the sound will not be muffled.

When i compared my new W4 to my V8Pro, the 'feel' factor of V8Pro is better just that it lacks the HDMI and 3G that i need.

Well, you might as well called it the smallest pc because it is essentially a full blown pc shrink into a tablet sized.

I just received my prize today and I have no idea what the hell it is... and I think Acer might have made a very big mistake...

Seem like the BSN voucher convert to Sijil Simpanan Premium which is eligible for lucky draw. Bad news is somehow, one of the voucher was 'redeemed' in their system and was unable to convert. This really sucks, considering I spent over an hour waiting in BSN. If Acer was unable to rectify this, I only get RM450. Duh... pain in the ass... I would rather get Acer vouchers really.

Actually I am dilemma between this and Nexus 7! Actually I had an IPad2 but after ugpraded to iOS7, the device is soooooo slow. So now just want to get a 2nd tablet for my normal daily usage.

I don't/seldom gaming in tablet, mainly for Surfing and Email.
