for normal installation, no need to pay anything.

Oh . what if previous place already install unifi icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(earthcrystal @ Dec 8 2013, 08:37 PM)
You need two more power sockets.
Unifi setup needs four power sockets for a modem, a wireless router, a cordless telephone and a hypptv decoder.
Don't forget the power sockets for your tv and home theatre.I have a 6 socket power extension.
You need to find out if you need a long telephone cable ( from your wall telephone outlet to your Unifi modem) and it is not expensive to buy them at a IT hypermarket.
You don't need to pay the contractor anything unless you asked to do some jobs that are not included in the standard Unifi set-up.
If you want, you can give the contractor some money to buy a cup of coffee.
Cheers.

ohhh means power lah i tot telephone thingy or lan thingy

For me, my unifi modem, wireless router, hypptv decoder and the cordless telephone are very close to each other.
I bought a 50m telephone to connect between the unifi modem and the telephone outlet on the wall.
If you set-up the Unifi modem and wireless router closely, you don't need to worry about the lan cable or else you have to buy a longer lan cable.

I guessed you are getting a home VIP package?
The cordless telephone is included in the package.
You don't need to pay anything.

Unless you asked the contractor to do some extra work, then you might need to pay the contractor.
Cheers.

yes the RM 149

i just want to know when need to pay . or the contractor will brief me later with the payment . so worried if later the contractor want me to pay cause i dont have money . waiting for gaji sad.gif

That should be VIP5.
I am using the same package.
You should not be paying any money.
If you have any issues on this, call TMnet helpdesk or you visit TM point office.

My case is I went to register at the TM point at Jalan Raja Chulan.
If I have any issues, I will call them for assistance.

2-3 hours lah. depends on where is the fiber cable outside yr house located.

the technician/contractor will call u first before reach yr house.

mine was somewhere behind around 3 house away. So the tech arrange for the wiring then drill hole at my kitchen wall.

after that u can use internet right away.
*

Well, NOPE too! For apartment buildings, UniFi is provided using VDSL2, instead of fiber, so that one phone socket in your unit can only be used for either Streamyx or UniFi, but not both at the same time.

so best for me to share lah ni sad.gif

If you have a 10Mbps UniFi that is good for sharing unless you have an uncooperative user who overuse it for heavy downloading. Then in that case you probably need to have a deal with that guy like set some time each day he is allowed to do so.

rite now 5

Modem is a modem.Router is a router
Dont get confused.you'll need a router in order to set the QOS.If you're using TM's stock router (Dlink DIR-615), you can "hack" it to run a custom firmware which is far more better, stable & contain lots of other functions
*
oh my router doesnt have QoS .. sigh
