yeah, go for TIME if you can.
RM129 @ 8Mbps lehhh. much much cheaper! Maxis' fiber has different QoS compared to Unifi's, although maxis fiber using unifi's fiber core. |

QUOTE(HanzYuzman @ Jan 25 2014, 09:05 AM) At my apt (unifi fixed in Mar 2011), a UNIFI agent offered RM179 to upgrade to VP10 with free Sports Pack OR Mega Pack. Not sure if we were the 1st batch customer. Today going to confirm this. If it is true, good deal isn't it? Add RM30 and get both speed upgrade and Sports Pack.. good deal indeed!"problem" is i dont spend much time at home on the other hand, user experience will definitely be better (fast speed = shorter download time). also, IF unifi starts to enforce FUP, VIP10 will have higher quota threshold than VIP5. since promo will extend my contract for another 2 years, there will be more upcoming promo/packs introduced in-between, perhaps. VIP5 has covered all of my basic needs though. RM30/mo may sounds small, but accumulated across 24 months = RM720. <-- heck, this sum can be used to offset some of the increased cost-of-living dilemma: i have no immediate need for VIP10; i want to but dont need to |

QUOTE(winkiedilwy @ Jan 25 2014, 06:08 PM) Why is Time not available to landed properties? In that case should I just take the RM179/mo promo? Got to be tied for 2 more years leh... majority existing landed properties already covered by national incumbent service/infrastructure provider, Telekom.TIME is targeting new housing areas, whereby they cooperate with developers to install fiber infra during development. 2years contract is not much, provided that... 1) you have no plans to move/relocate within that period. 2) there is no other better provider within that period so, most of us are already satisfied with unifi's service, so 2years is transparent. i didnt know i'm reaching my end-of-contract until unifi staff called me for contract extension |

QUOTE(Ned_Fromthenorth @ Feb 9 2014, 12:33 PM) anyone received any email from TM CAMS? i received an email saying that i have Rm432.20 unpaid and that i reached 90% of my credit already. retrace all your eStatements/eBills.but my monthly bill is Rm149 and i only haven pay for January and February. so should be Rm 298. cannot get the Rm432.20 figure Try to call Tm but they say customer service down, and Unifi.OCC portal also down for maintenance. assuming no add-on pack subscriptions, most probably missed payment (been carry-forwarded for months now) or excess call usage local/IDD. |

QUOTE(2pig @ Feb 11 2014, 11:09 AM) thanks.interesting, though. since when MCMC dictate telco to implement FUP? it's up to the telco's prerogative on enforce FUP or not. since unifi has no serious competitor (nearest would be TIME and ABNxcess), i wonder why MCMC reacted such |

QUOTE(2pig @ Feb 11 2014, 11:24 AM) until TM announce this publicly, we can only speculate.extra charge? should be no charge after throttle. MCMC doesnt allow denial of service after quota is reached, hence that's why all telcos limit the speed to extra low (64/128kbps), which technically is usable. rmeember last time Maxis totally blocked data service after quota is reached, till customers were furious |

this is a retention program by TM.
those near contract expiry (my case, expire Mar'14, got the call on Jan'14), TM will call these customers (probably selected group with some criteria). the RM169 promo was for 1st batch of Unifi subscribers (early adopters calling TM asking for promo rate wont help cuz you may not be eligible. |

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Apr 2 2014, 03:20 PM) Went to TM pt today. Asked about the VIP5 package, they told me no quota? no FUP enforcement is a temporary bonus. TM is doing their due diligence to inform their customers of the quota set for each plan.Website says got 60GB quota (not imposed yet). But I'm sure they can at any time implement this FUP. Can we consumers who are under contract upgrade from VIP to Biz during the contract period? do note that all broadband plans by telcos are technically unlimited quota. The published quota numbers are the threshold before FUP is enforced (i.e. throttling). After throttle, you still can use, but at limited speed. So, your quota will keep counting. Until bill reset, the FUP is lifted. Speed is back up to normal speed. Until you hit the quota threshold, FUP enforced again. most ppl dont see the issue is not the limited quota, but the limited speed when FUP kicks in plan upgrade from VIP to Biz should be doable. call their CS to ask about upgrade. It's faster for answer |

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Apr 2 2014, 03:42 PM) I know what FUP and quota is and how it would be imposed. FUP will always be there. TM is telling it's customers upfront.I'm asking if the FUP thing has been removed from their current plans? Also the TMpoint ppl told me no FUP quota and throttling? Said they changed it. Based on my understanding the FUP was always there as a clause. once TM enforce FUP, there's nothing for us to dispute, because customers already informed since day 1 of subscription. the FUP clause is to protect them (and for later use), not us. so for now, TM doesnt enforce FUP...... yet. QUOTE(MYstombox @ Apr 2 2014, 03:45 PM) Well, that's not what the people in TM point told me, they said no more FUP. no worries le. treat it as no FUP.I knew that since day 1 there was FUP clause for VIP customers, but wondering if this has been changed. once TM going to enforce FUP, whole Malaysia gonna bang their doors! |

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Apr 2 2014, 04:14 PM) The problem is blaming it on everyone, SKMM, competitors etc. iinm, skmm has no jurisdiction to impose how a telco offer their product. yes, they have a guideline, but not determining a telco's business policies. If they are serious with keeping their existing customers, find out who are the legit ones. Keep them. Why should they blame SKMM saying need to impose quota and throttling? This is supposed to be a 'free market', best offer wins. We signed up for the best offer, then they screw us? Come on, if the competition cannot handle, they need to come up with plans to entice us also. Telcos supposed to be highly competitive, but now like cartel. as long as telco's services are within legal boundaries and skmm guideline, it's acceptable. i remember last time skmm dictated a <RM20 broadband plan, 500MB of quota, etc. when they wanted to promote their 1Malaysia Broadband package. some telco, earlier, couldnt meet this criteria and they're annoyed that skmm was directing them what to sell, how much to sell, etc. alas, they were 'forced' to create a stupid cheapo plan just to satisfy someone's ego needs. maxis' recent cases, it's their conscious decision to revise their plan features, which is cheating existing customers. maxis could've force migrate larger group of subs to the new revised plan, and retain those genuine customers. yet, they didnt do so and 'wipe' the whole base instead. good luck to us all. a big fat cartel indeed. and guess who's the ring-leader? |
