food for thought,

When u guys first get the phone, did u:
1.charge the phone upto 100% before even turning it on or,
2.use the phone batterytill 0% and do recalibration , then charge it.
*
Normally it is best to use it until the lowest percentage or until you get a warning, and then start charging it from then onwards.

Edit: This is for the first time usage only as some people are unable to grasp your question properly stating that it is done only for the first time. Once the battery is already activated, you can charge it at anytime and it is best to not allow it to completely discharge constantly.

Wow, bad advice. Please don't spread this around. Later a lot of Note 3 battery life degraded. laugh.gif

What are you talking about? hmm.gif

It degrades only if you do it constantly.

I was responding to his question based on first time usage. Followed this on most of my phones and I have never faced a battery issue. Maybe you can refer to the guides online to better equip yourself with the knowledge.

Anyways, when it comes to android, it is hard to kill your battery because when the battery is at its lowest, the phone would shut itself off. the warning is given when the battery level is about 20%.

This is done just for the calibration of the battery. After a few charging cycles and the battery is running at it's full capacity, then you can charge it anytime, and it's best to not allow it to completely drain, unless you want to recalibrate it , with is usually done once in 2 months or so.

Please read my statement above ya smile.gif

Btw, these are modern batteries, so no need to charge up to 8 hours as recommended by a lot of old time phone dealers. Once it is shown as 100%, you can remove the phone from the charger.

My suggestion was for the first time usage.

Only oldfag like me who came from NiMH and NiCad battery era will have this kind of assumption towards battery. You must be more than 30 already  laugh.gif

Else, you might be still using Sanyo Eneloop NiMH AA battery.  laugh.gif

I always use my phone till the battery real low (3 -5%) then only I will recharge it. Why is it bad..!?
Am not going to start looking for charger when my battery still have 50% juice left.
*
Actually this method is not really recommended because when you charge from an extremely low rate constantly , it:

1) Wears out the batteries charging cycle

2) Generates heat which may stress your battery and reduce it's overall capacity.

Anyways, there is a voltage control in the battery. When the battery is used up completely , it would shut it self off, however the voltage control should be above the danger zone. The only thing that degrades the battery is as above. If you do not charge your battery for a longer period of time (Your battery may discharge even in that state) then the voltage levels may drop into the danger zone and this would affect the life of your battery. Most phone manufacturers charge the phone to about 50% as that is the optimal value for it since the phone would gradually discharge even while being shipped.

anyone?

Not sure if you can do this with modern Samsung Phones as some older phones would allow you to mount your device as a mass usb storage instead of MTP.

No longer possible since ICS. It's an android thing and not Samsung.

Actually this method may work since it works for the S4:

Actually about the Spen being "too-tight" to remove, i heard that it would eventually loosen up and it wouldn't be as difficult to remove it.

Anybody successfully cut sim card into microsim for Note3?
*
Shouldn't be a problem, if you get a shop to do it for you, or if you have the cutter , you can do it yourself.

I tried using the cutter a long time ago on a dummy unused sim card, it wasn't easy to press the handle, therefore i ended up damaging the sim card.

Then I used my leg, and in 1 swift move, the sim card came out of it's "shell" perfectly biggrin.gif

Are you copying through the usb 3.0 port in your computer?

Try copying through the usb 2.0 port.

Yea, I followed the discussion too, but mostly it is the bugs on XZU right? Sleep of death and all.

Don't think he was really complaining but stating the bugs and the handicap of the phone. I think quite a few users agreed with him since they shared the same issue as well.

Yes I agree too, the SOD and fake hang

Maybe he is used samsung alot and with no bug so can't tahan sony lo

He used quite a few sony phones besides this. I agree, the Xperia Z ultra had issues as well, mainly the washed out screen, and sub par battery life. The XZU had the SOD issue. Can't blame him if he have nothing good to say about Sony.

My opinion is that Sony are awesome when it comes to designing. But in terms of software implementation, Samsung is still number 1. Perhaps Sony would improve one day. laugh.gif

I have to agree with you.

Despite Andrewtst constant harping on screen and camera recently, he did give very good hands-on information on most of the XZU bugs (which I was happily following) when they released the new firmware etc. I mean, nobody is perfect and what I can say is that people just take it easy and relax. Personally, I don't really see anything wrong with Andrewtst's postings as many people are indeed interested to know comparisons for the screen and cameras anyway. If Andrewtst were to stop posting altogether, we would surely miss a good forum contributor for this handphone section, IMHO.
The white faux leather feels more plasticky and less sticky, so could it be more durable? Only time will tell. But after few days of using my white Note III naked, the white faux leather back is still in pristine condition. But I will surely put it in a case ASAP to be safe.

True. I for one enjoy reading his comparisons. Some people may get offended as they might see him attacking the phones of their choice. People do get defensive, but others who are on the neutral side, may appreciate his rants / contributions.

Anyways, it is human nature. We get defensive when an 'outsider' starts ranting over the device of our choice.
