A Leopard 2 Revolution showcased in Indo Defense show in Jakarta last year...Indonesia will get 61 units of these.... More improved than up-armored Leopard 2SG.... Revolution has better electronics, counter measures, fire controls and others |

QUOTE(bubu2010 @ Oct 3 2013, 02:55 AM) 16 x 8 = 128??? 128 Su30??? Kidding or real? it means within 11 years right? OMG!!! 128 fighters excluding trainers? It is totally a lot Not all Su-30, that may include refurbished F-16 Block 32 and KFX....although there's rumor that TNI-AU will purchase another squadron of Su-30MK2 under the next president's administration that begins next year.Indonesia's GDP may reach $2000billion in 2024....that's 20bil based on current's percentage of budget defense to GDP..at 1 percent The projected percentage of budget defense will be raised eventually to 2.5 percent...that's $50billion in 2024 So 8 fighter squadrons do sound plausible..... QUOTE(kinabalu @ Oct 3 2013, 11:32 AM) no wonder....real modernization only begins recently in 2009 and ends in 2014 for Renstra I.....there will be Renstra II and Renstra III that ends in 2024....by that time the degree sophistication may approach Singapore's...since the annual defense budget will be at least $20 billions Some of the assets are really old...like BTR-50 and S-60 AAA gun.....but I'm sure they'll decommissioned eventually |

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Oct 4 2013, 10:09 PM) may be their strategy was more on city war or flat terrain since their major city r mostly near to sea where there can used ship to transport them here and there compare malaysia which ground transport had more advancetage TNI-AD actually has 12 armored batallions (Yonkavs) .....unmodified Leopard 2A4 will be assigned to Yonkav 12 in East Kalimantan....Leopard Revolution to Yonkav 8 in East Java......just my own oppinion. http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batalyon_kavaleri So the bulk and workhorse of Indonesian armored forces is still light tanks......perhaps Leopards are just used "in case" there's a combat with opposing MBT in open space and cities.... Surely their light tanks can't survive in this scenario |

QUOTE(KYPMbangi @ Oct 8 2013, 05:53 PM) New Arena-3 APS Debut At RAE-2013 Daisy chain two obsolete malyutka ATGM launchers with one Kornet launcher.....________________________________________________________ Posted by Tamir Eshel ![]() Arena-3 covers 360 degrees in four quadrants with four modules, each comprising two sensor modules. A new active protection system from Russia appeared today at RAE-2013, as part of the display of a series of upgrades offered to The T-72 main battle tanks. The new system, dubbed Arena-3 covers 360 degrees in four quadrants with four modules, which seems to comprise two sensors two effectors. According to the manufacturer, two targets can be intercepted at each direction, at 0.3 second intervals. The system is effective at elevation of +20 degrees and -6 degrees. It is designed to intercept projectiles and missiles at a distance of 50 meters from the protected tank. The previous configuration included multiple effectors and a high profile radar that has not received well among tank crews. According to the tank manufacturer Uralvagonzavod, the system is effective at target velocity of 70-1000 meter/second (pertaining to RPGs, anti-tank missiles and HEAT tank rounds). The upgraded T-72 with Arena-3 weighs 46.5 tons. ![]() According to the manufacturer, two targets can be intercepted at each direction, at 0.3 second intervals. The system is effective at elevation of +20 degrees and -6 degrees. [SoS] When the operator push the trigger.....the two malyutka missiles are launched first with 0.5s interval......followed 0.2s later by the Kornet missile The first two malyutka are decoys......the 0.2s interval used by the Kornet...hopefully can defeat the 0.3s reaction time of the Arena 3....... Hopefully, the same concept can be used to defeat Israel's Trophy This post has been edited by Frozen_Sun: Oct 9 2013, 02:38 AM |

QUOTE(hafizushi @ Dec 19 2013, 11:32 PM) yep i dont think we need to compete with our jiran, let them spending spree...we should buy thing when its necessary I think that's quite understandable...Indonesia's GDP quadrupled under SBY administration from 2004 - 2014 to about $1 trillionwe should focus on thing like; 1)sgpv weapon package 2)ngpv weapon package 3)mmrca with aew aircraft 4)esscomm radar, military base, equipment 5)forming marine brigade using same concept of 10 para by converting some ramd and ranger battalion into marine brigade 6)LPD/LHD => critical if we have a marine brigade, preferably mini dokdo 7)more antitank/antiair manpad, acog scope, grenade launcher and other army personnel equipment after all of that we can start buying thing like marine brigade equipment like something transport heli, landing boat. Since we already bought av8 from what i understand it can be amphibious(correct me if im worng) hence maybe 30 out 250 av8 to be use by the marine, then buy something like this ![]() 2s25 sprut-sd can be airdrop or amphibious hence can be use by 10 para and the marine more, maybe next 10 years if it me the defence ministry For many years, they maintain a modest defense budget, about 0.9 percent GDP, suddenly in 2008 they found out that they have spare cash to spend on new weapons...that's why they have the MEF program (2009-2024). At this economic growth rate, they will have even bigger extra cash to spend each year, even at 0.9 percent GDP. A shopping spree is logical consequence..... QUOTE(azriel @ Dec 24 2013, 06:55 PM) Isn't "Hit & Run" a tactic used by Fast Attack Missile Boats? To successfully employ hit & run tactic, missile boats must lie in wait and make the best of the surrounding terrain, because whatever they do, these boats will never outrun anti ship missiles in open seas3 KCR-40 Missile Boats of the Indonesian Navy making manuvers ![]() |

QUOTE(azriel @ Dec 24 2013, 10:49 PM) "The Battle of Latakia" during the Yom Kippur War was known as a battle between Fast Missile Boats. Well....I doubt these KCRs have sophisticated electronic countermeasures to defeat Exocet MM40 Block II/III or perhaps their own C-7055 Israeli Missile Boats (Sa'ar 3 & Sa'ar 4) vs 3 Syrian Missile Boats (Komar & Osa), 1 Syrian Torpedo Boat & 1 Minesweeper. The Israelis used electronic countermeasures & chaff rockets to avoid those Syrian SS-N-2 Styx Missiles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Latakia Small islands and rivers are their best defense to hide from detection and counter-fire |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Dec 25 2013, 12:57 AM) Kenapa China tak ikut doctrine Russia, strategi Attack on US carrier battle groups guna Anti-Ship missile, rather than trying ship-to-ship battle? Su-30 with Brahmos....cheaper than Backfire![]() Tu-22M with 2 underwing KH-22 (AS-4 "Kitchen") Anti-ship Missiles. From the movie "The Sum of All Fears". Yes, ada banyak inaccuracies berkenaan US fleet defence systems & CAP fighters, tapi the main idea is that attacking US carrier groups using anti-ship missiles as an alternative to ship-to-ship combat. Lagipun best jugak tengok US carrier kena blast ni hehehe |
