...................or we could ask the korean to sell us some of them F/A-50

it's cheap (USD600mil for 20 planes), shares similar munition as F/A-18D and F-5E and even shares some of the F/A-18 logistic (especially the engine).we can replace F-5,hawk 208 and even MiG-29 in one go.

though i dont think indon gonna be happy with it.
pinoy? screw them and their mundus

EDIT: iraq bought them 24 units of F/A-50s for around 1 bil usd... those 20 for 600 mil are maybe for less sophisticated variant of F/A-50 and maybe because iraq deal also include maintanence, training and spare parts.

There are three versions of golden eagle

T-50 = training only
T/A-50 = attack trainer
F/A-50 = light attack

Indonesia purchases T/A-50 to replace Hawk Mk.53 trainers....

Philippine purchases F/A-50 to replace F-5 Tiger, it is a huge upgrade, can carry AMRAAM and smart bomb

Indonesia's tax revenue increases exponentially since the start of SBY's administration; this clearly contributes the military spending. Even by maintaining the defense budget at 0.9 percent GDP; Indonesia is already able to make major purchases.

looks like Indon is not focusing on SEA nations anymore, but more towards Australia..

In recent decades, Indonesia has been quite docile militarily against its neighbors. There were many intrusions lately, like three Australian warships that reached 7 miles off Rote island, which is well inside Indonesian's territory. Again the response is minimal.

Indonesia allocate very modest defense budget compared to other countries in the region, just 0.8 percent GDP. But since a few years ago Indonesia's economy has expanded rapidly to about $1 trillion.

That's equal to $8-9 billion each year.

Indonesia may seem a bit scary these days, but where the extra money would be spent if not for replacing old weapons?
