Can be done but it's not a good/complete solution.

The light dimming function only works with the dome light. You'll need to tap your dashcam into the dome light for the dimming effect. But the dome light is only turn on when you open the door or manually turn on the light. Then your dashcam will only power on during the same time. But not all dome light works the same.

Also, the dome light is direct power from the car battery. If you tap that then your dashcam will be on 24/7, I foresee a car battery drain and dashcam overheat issue here.

Nowadays dashcam can be powered by using a USB car charger or via the car fuse box via a hardwire kit.

A shop here in Bukit Jalil quoted me RM90 to hide the wiring of my Garmin Front/Rear Cameras. (GDR45/GDR30)
1. Is that reasonable?

He asked me if i want to continue using the Cigarette Lighter socket or hardwire it?
2. Suggestions? Whats a hardwire kit?

EA Autoworks have good workmanship but dual dashcam installations I think they charge rm150 if not mistaken. More if your car is those hatchback trunk like on SUV or MPV.

Actually basically they charge according to your requirements. This is what I did for my Suzuki Swift Sport.
I have a Garmin front/rear with all the necessary accessories.

1) Fix back to front wire to connect rear cam to front cam

He wanted to fix/hide my front cam charging wire to the cigarette port as well, but I said no need.
No wiring done for that, cause my cam can take the power from my music player USB port, so
he charged me much less that what was initially qouted. (Im using my cigarette port for my
Garmin GPS as well)

Basically, depends on your requirements.

Workmanship good but boss attitude like shit. Especially Drex Chan. Typical Chinaman

No comment on attitude. All i can say i went there when no customers, less than 1 hr siap, and very happy with workmanship.

question:

i have an old Garmin GDR 35 that still works, planning to install it in my gf's car.
im looking for the rear GBC 30, but seems its either out of stock or discontinued.

anyone know where i can still find one, the model is called GBC 30.

Lelong has some sellers selling it for RM400++, it is supposed to be around RM300 only
