My third unit already ... so far never failed! Just wondering if can hardwire it and allow it to record when car is parked.

Get yourself an "endurance card". Non endurance cards are not covered under warranty, seemingly, regardless of manufacturers. They are a bit more expensive but should be more reliable.

You connect to 🔋 signal from fuse sure can. Only 24/7 hours recording. I worried the dashcam internal battery and the sandisk ultra card die prematurely.
*
I second this opinion since it doesn't have parking mode.

Is it the same buying here and from viofo.com?
*
From here, it seems the same to me, maybe the sales have ended because the price is the same on Viofo' website https://www.viofo.com/

It it a bit cheaper if you buy from them directly but remember that if any issues on warranty should arise you might have to ship it back to them. Shipping period is about 2 weeks (provided customs does not suddenly and randomly kisiao)

If you buy locally it should be RM 790 - RM799 (be careful of those at a lower price - some dont even have warranty for you)

All the best.

i see.. im still waiting for their hard wire kit to release, then i can buy that unit already.. hopefully it will be a right choice? cos im looking for a budget front n rear cam dvr haha..

just maybe the parking mode is not as sensitive as those good brands, i.e. x9, thinkware, etc but at least it will work?  hmm.gif

what's the difference between 2 / 3 wires ?
*
If i am not mistaken, 2 wire setup still requires you to manually enable and disable parking mode.

3 wire setup however, allows the cam to detect when ACC (accesory) power is present, thus taking it out of parking mode automatically, so no need to fiddle around.

If you cant wait, you could use a power bank and try it out (of course you need to enable and disable parking mode by yourself). For me 10K mAh, can last more than 8 hours. (Using Anker)

Extra consideration: your memory card, if it is not an endurance version, probably will die out faster due to more writes.

Parking mode comes in 3 different FPS based on mine, 1, 5 and 15 fps. The lower the FPS the faster the video seems to play. It will detect impact and motion so pretty much decent for what it is.

Ps : don't leave your power bank in the car when its hot, i use it during the night till early morning then i take it away. Afternoon heat will definitely degrade the battery of a power bank (more so when it's less heat resistant and / or cheap).

What’s the hardwire kit?
There is some wire inside and also regulator to connect the the dashcam to car battery.
Is this the hardwore kit you mentioned?

How much is the battery you mentioned?
Recahrgeable?
Or else I am thinking to use the small GP motor battery for parking mode.
Just that the size is not small to put in car.

Hardwire kit is basically to power your dash cam which would otherwise not be on when the engine is off because our cigarette port(s) are not "hot" (being supplied with continuous power. Some kits come with an auto cut off feature, say when voltage hits a certain low or after a specified time.

Your cable you described could be it.

Im not sure about the battery price but it should be around 7 or 800 or more.

You can see Cell link B or Cell link Neo for reference.

If you travel short distance then you might have to charge it at home yourself and yes they are rechargeable. The difference lies with the components as usual batteries should probably not be used in a hot environment (your car can easily hit 60 degree Celsius in the afternoon). Also why you shouldn't leave a power bank in the car, nor is it recommended.

Further reading indicates that it is safer and more durable

So you have both pre-production and a retail A129 Duo as from what I read in your review? You can flash the beta firmware into the pre-production unit as I have did into mine.

Lots of details in your review.

You'll need to title your videos properly instead of leaving the filename as the title. Not easy for viewers to know what the video is about.

You can also post your review here: https://forum.lowyat.net/ReviewsandGuides

Thank you Mr. Jeremy (i believe), for your suggestions, coming from one of the "sifus" of this area makes it more interesting.

I will look into them and see how to go about it.

Still uploading raw files now.

Both units I have are retail units. I didn't try any beta firmware yet since the cam has to be reliable above all else so i would perhaps stick to stable released firmware.

I hope the details are not overwhelming as i do prefer a bit more detail when reading them.

Sorry, I have been away from this thread for some time. Just want to get update from fellow viofo 129 front/rear users. Is the cabling kit being sold already?

I read that can get locally which is only slightly more expensive instead of getting from Aliexpress. Also should I DIY (i am noob) or just pay Sicurez to install? They seems to charge RM150 for front/rear installation.

So overall will end up paying about 1k for front/read, wire kit and installation. I am not getting GPS function.

Yes the, hardwiring kit is available both locally and from overseas.

Overseas or direct from the manufacturer will be a bit cheaper but takes longer to arrive.

Buying locally, a bit more expensive but if needed, exchange should be able to be processed easier and cheaper.

About installation, it shouldn't be too hard but do check out some videos on YouTube first. If you're not comfortable, better get others to hardwire for you.

If you mean installing the cam itself, its pretty simple (for a sedan, longer cars or cars with windscreen that comes up when the boot is open can be a bit of a pain), i didn't hide all the wires so if need be, i can remove them without opening too many of the "panels".

All the best!

i still use the xiaoyi dashcam 4k
is it still the best choice ?

It really depends on what you seek in a dash cam as "best" is subjective.

Video quality should be better than 1080 and 720 cams but on the other hand, i think its missing a rear cam and uses battery instead of a capacitor but thats my opinion.

Are you seeking to upgrade?
