Fastest way is to spend Fifa Points but that requires money lol!
Like me I don't spend money, just play the season and get a lot of coins.
Choose the best reward with challenging AI for more coins.
Always by Premium Gold Packs instead of normal one which gives you 3 rare cards instead of one.
If you are lucky you might get a few good player like I did yesterday
Then can sell for more coins and become IMBA! woot haha

Ermm I collect around 80k or half of it and then spend for gold packs.
The probably to get more good player is when you open more packs at a single time. Also luck la.
Good to start buying a single player first to strengthen your team then only take risk in gold packs haha.
I think I open around 6 gold pack. Was super lucky got Suarez, Gotze and Jesus Navas, others are good too.
Planning to sell Gotze soon although i'm thinking of making a German team.

OMG! Lahm.... I want to built German team too once i'm done with Arsenal and England team.

I switch to PC because of this DC problem and menu lag issues.
So far working great and never dced before.

How good are Soldado and Michu compared to Giroud?

This is why I sold off my PS3 version of Fifa.
The menus seems like EA is too lazy to optimize it for PS3 and the lagging might be the cause of PS4.
UI seems to be more developed for PS4 and Xbox 1 which has more RAM. PS3 doesn't seems to be able to read it fast enough.
Just my opinion.

The issue on PC is none existence tough. Even online seems stable.
