man he's becoming the next Jack Thompson...or something like that vmad.gif

QUOTE
"We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play games, watch films, browse the Web, and use other [home] computer functions," said Harrison. "The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC."
~ without PC, we cannot BT cry.gif

QUOTE
Harrison went on to say that the PS3's motion-sensitive controller had been in the works for some time. "We have already worked on it a long time, and Nintendo almost certainly has done likewise with something similar," he said. "It is perfectly natural for two companies to work on [nearly] identical devices. It's like that with technology." He reiterated that the PlayStation 2's Dual Shock controller is the "de facto-industry standard for video games...We define the standard for the man-machine interface for playing games."
~ ya i guess the long time is about 1 day after Wii came out with the Wiimote

LOL. That's funny and also kinda insulting. But it's nothing new coming from Sony, we've heard it all during the PS2 hype, how it's the ultimate gaming machine, media center, blah blah blah. Now they're claiming that PCs are not needed. Ahahahaa...

But the comment about not copying Wii insults our intelligence..... it's just so obvious that they did. Before Wii was announced, Sony never even mentioned having motion-sensing in the controller. And of course, if it really was developed a loooooong time ago, why was there only ONE game in E3 that showcased the motion-sensing, whereas Nintendo had a whole gallery of games to show off?

Actually it's true. If all you intend to do is play games, watch media and surf web, you really don't need a PC.

I'm already doing that with a modifed XBOX (although the web surfing part is limited in many ways).

MS isn't any better. Why the XBOX360 needs to hook up to a Windows Media PC?? It can do all those things without it but MS cleverly locked into the WMPC to boost that market segment.

Screw em All.

Hail to Nintendo!!!

I wonder why! oh wait the minute .. maybe because she is tired of being ambushed with unanswerable questions which are the end results of stupids remarks and statements from Sony heads laugh.gif

1) No, but it's upgradeable. And i suppose connecting a LANDISK to a local network shouldn't be much of a problem.

2) No. No Intel inside. But a 3.2Ghz Cell processor. Pentium D is just so yesterday anyway.

3) No. Pirated copies of software not allowed. smile.gif

they are sooo funny .. i hope Sony would learn the lesson and launch their future products together with other competitor .. they like omg .. mumbling here and there tongue.gif

Sony gets realistic, but remains confusing

Posted Jun 7th 2006 5:55PM by Conrad Quilty-Harper
Filed under: PC, Sony PlayStation 3, Business

More PR strangeness from Sony: Niall O'Hanrahan, a representative of Sony Computer Entertainment in Ireland has added his words to the boiling pot of Sony sound bites. Speaking to the Irish Times, his words offer a slightly more pessimistic tone. Regarding tasks that Sony has set itself with the PS3, O'Hanrahan said "we have a marketing challenge from now until launch. This is not a done deal. It will require a lot of effort from us." He also referred to the extra competition that the PS3 has to face due to its role as more than just a game console: "Competition is now not limited to direct competition. We compete with MP3 players. We noticed at E3 that games for PCs are back."

It's nice to see someone from Sony remaining realistic about the challenges the company faces as it tries to sell the PS3 to early adopters, especially considering the jolt that the value of the PlayStation brand must have taken after the console's price was announced. However, we have to point out an obvious contradiction in his words. Wasn't it Phil Harrison that said a few days ago that the PS3 will make the PC irrelevant? Who are we supposed to believe: Phil's harsh words for the PC, or O'Hanrahan's word of warning about PCs being "back" (in town)?
