1. different focal length will show different perspective
2. different lens will have different minimum focusing distance.

for you, i suggest that you just use a tripod. that helps a lot.

after than, using your whatever lens, just play around with the distance. if the minimum focusing distance doesn't work then shoot further and crop later.

+1 tripod is all you need in this case, product shooting is much the same here, even with low light, you could control the shutter speed to allow more light in or add to EV to get a brighter image

can use your monitor as a softbox as well wink.gif just open a blank word document on full screen and place it closer to your subject wink.gif

i wish i can give it to you to try haha ! but my model is sucky.
i get the overall idea. but why we need tripod ?

and some how here i rarely see ppl have showcase a architecture model picture. :<

tripod allows you to take shots over long exposures without movement which will let in more light and get a good & sharp image at that wink.gif oh and use of lower ISO will help with the noise as well

this shot is taken without fill flash, on a tripod, lit by a single luorecent lamp at the ceiling, to get the light I need, I exposed it for about 5 seconds.

Notice how the pen is blurry while the product is sharp??? well I handheld the pen but the product is placed on the table while my 600D is on a tripod wink.gif ISO100 on f7.1 I believe... can't remember

if you do not have a tripod, use a bean bag or some solid place to hold the camera steady but be careful not to induce any movement while pressing the shutter

most of my photo have so much noise. hmm.gif

I didn't clean this, shot this at iso100 and adequate exposure so noise is very minimal
