Got my TTBT today.. happy. laugh.gif
But maybe i lock the HSF too tight.. the'H shape' bracket bend alrdy. ( bend alot sad.gif )
Have one question here about TTBT. I locked the bracket ( which stick to the HSF base) horizontally. I think its the rite way. Or should i lock it vertically for better cooling?
Thanks.

From X-Bit labs:
QUOTE
We've all got used to the fact that manufacturers of cooling systems mostly reside in Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan and, a few of them, in the USA. That's why we were somewhat surprised to get two heatsinks on heat pipes from an Austria-headquartered Noctua for our tests.

Malaysia have well know HSF manufactures??

it seems that we do, but i havent heared of any around.
maybe, they think because they manafacture proccessors here, then the think the HSF's are produced here too to minimize cost of sending an ES oof the proc to the HSF manafacturing company tongue.gif
*
Could it be Intel HSF ?? sweat.gif
Malaysian dont like it.. but foreigner favor it.

Greetings all, i've been pondering whether or not i would need a HSF because i do not plan to overclock? would the stock cooler be sufficient? or is it still a wise move to get a aftermarket cooler (i had the Big typhoon VX in mind).
*
Not planning o'c then stock cooling is good enough. Maybe just add one or two 120mm case fan then can run long hrs alrdy.

eehhh!!! shocking.gif don't buy those OC mobo la, if u don't plan to OC, unless the mobo is cheap laugh.gif
*
There is no such thing la.. low price mobo also can support o'c very good. Dont mislead ppl.
But the right thing is.. get cheaper one if budget really tight.

QUOTE(Swaye @ Jan 20 2007, 12:35 AM)
i'm planning to get everything along with the planned rig ...

should be somewhere along the lines of

E6600
DS3
250GB SATA2
8800GTS
Enermax liberty 500watts

i dont really plan to overclock... i'm just wondering if adding a third party cooler would prolong the lifespan of my hardware?

@yehlai

hmmm i see.. any reccomendations for 120mm fans? and care to give an explanatino with you suggestion? any feedback is greatly appreciated
*
If not going to o'c i also suggets u get Biostar 965PT. This mobo is very good and its also cheap!! Not necesssary to add 3rd party cooling if not going to o'c i think.
If u want better air flow inside case then just add 120mm fan.. i will help cool down the temp a bit.
About the lifespan.. Intel claim tht if run proc @stock clock, the proc can last 8-10 years. But if im wrong, other pls correct me.

Anyway, i've stumbled upon an easy mod for all thermaltake big typhoon owners. Quite easy but will need you to unmount your heatsink to exectute it.

Hey i've done the same thing too..
But i put 28mm (5000rpm) fan instead of ram sinks.
The temp drop 3-4C.
I also think to open a new thread to share.. but need to take out the HSF and take pic 1st. We can do together la..

Besides, I only got like 2c improvement (without the sink-in) time for a this RM 15 + 20 mins mod. (took me 15 freakin minutes to mount it back coz of the stupid push-pin thing!)
*

Edited: I forget to add my exhaust fan into the simulation... tongue.gif

Why dont wanna put the HSF at the opposite possition??
I think it can help to cool your CPU better. Becos now your PSU is blocking the Noctua HSF to suck air and blow it towards the Noctua HS. Moreover your PSU fan is sucking air out..
I think your NB heastsink dont need any air flow to achieve better cooling result. Becoz NC U6 is design to operate passive.
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=10094660
If put the HSF too near to the PSU, i might block your PSU air flow. Causing your PSU running hot. I encounter tht b4.

@sHawTY, irangan or any forumer who have Noctua NH-12F

Wanna ask a question before I re-install my NH-12F. After install the backplate to the mobo, you direct screw the heatsink to your mobo before put in to the casing or you screw it after put the mobo in to the casing? unsure.gif

This few day I keep thinking of this question. The day I install it after put my mobo in the casing, and it take me quite long time to able to screw both the scews. doh.gif

btw...the heatsink heatpipe is so near to my side panel...not more than 2mm I think... sweat.gif
*
But normally ppl will install HS b4 put mobo in case.
Easier to apply AS5 and to put in the HSF.

tested the new zalman cnps9700 nt on my rig

(btw..im using zalman zm-stg1 thermal grease..may i know where can i get arctic silver 5?)

my personal exp -  ttbt vx is a better choice bcuz it is not as noisy as zalman in full speed..it performs as well as zalman 9700nt..n most importantly..less expensive
*
hehe Big typhoon is good..
About As5 u check irangan's siggy: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=10155623
Its normal cant prime stable @3.6GHz. I tried it b4, 3.2GHz should be no prob.

Yes, agree. Mine is almost impossible to prime stable @ 3.6GHz.
Thts why i skip the prime test lol.
