sweat.gif sHawTY, now you using Hyper 6+ or Ultra 120? I am abit confuse now... rclxub.gif

Now I have a CM cooler for my AMD Duron 1200MHz, I am not sure what model it is, nver check...I bought it last time from my friend together with the mobo, proc & ram...My proc quite hot, idle at 41C (yesterday hit 45C coz the whether is hot), never load it with prime95 yet...tongue.gif

My casing is capalang one, so the ventilization I think not very good lor cry.gif ...even thought I have put two 80cm fan as exhaust fan (one is cheap-cheap fan, another get from faulty psu fan)...I also have 2 fan at fron as take in (also one is cheap-cheap and onother is faulty psu de...)...but it doesn't help much

So, I cannot oc...the worst is my psu...capalang too...350W...I think not enough power liao...that day try to over clock to 1260MHz, it auto-restart after about half hour using it...wanna buy enermax fma 460w next month.... drool.gif

Edited to add: no more FMA 460w at ly... cry.gif n I found that hyper 6+ sold at ly is damn expensive... rclxub.gif

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Oct 16 2006, 12:50 PM)
I've already sold two of my Hyper 6+ a long time ago edi... tongue.gif

Now i have two heatsink...

One is Thermalright XP120 and Thermalright Ultra 120

The Ultra 120 is used on the Intel Pentium D 820 [Running at 3.8GHz] PC
While the XP120 is used on the Intel Pentium D 930 [Running at 4GHz] PC...

If u're asking why didn't i use the Ultra 120 [Yes, i know that Ultra 120 is better in cooling then XP120] on the Pentium D 930 processor, the answer is simple...

The XP120 surface is facing the motherboard, so it doesn't only cool of the processor, but it cools all the mosfet, capacitors, and all other things that is soldered on the motherboard... thumbup.gif

That's why i choose XP120 over Ultra 120... wink.gif

And another thing why i choose XP120 over Ultra 120 for my Pentium D 930, it's because i'm using my Pentium D pc in Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Casing that heatsink cannot be fitted in the casing, yes, it can, but i have to take the 90MM fan on the sidepanel, otherwise, i can't close the sidepanel... sweat.gif

That's the other reason why i choose XP120 over Ultra 120...

Another simple reason is, because XP120 looks much sexier than the Ultra 120...
With XP120, i can clearly see the heatpipe... wub.gif

bro ianho also agrees in me in saying that XP120 is very much sexier than the ultra 120...
That's why he choose to use XP 120 for his king kong pc... thumbup.gif
*
Wow...you got 2 PC... very envy you ler... drool.gif aiyo...I miss out the opportunity to buy your hyper 6+ liao... cry.gif ...hmmm...maybe I should change my psu and casing first....and add some good fan to it...now all using capalang de...quite uneasy when see the temp so high...biggrin.gif

AFAIK, AS5 need to wait it to shink only then can see the drop in temp (around 3 week if not mistake)...correct me if I am wrong... blush.gif

And that will result to a noisy setup...
I wouldn't recommend that, it's not practical, who want's a noisy setup anyway?

Even if there guys that don't care how noisy his setup is, that's because he doesn't fall in love in silent setup yet...

Once he fall in love in silent setup, there's no turning back, he'll want to make his pc to be zero Db.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Haha... laugh.gif I don't think you will get 0 DB anyway... tongue.gif

My previous temp using the same cooler are 48C idle 61C Load

that's quite a change...

Just finish install my new mobo and proc. Mobo is ASRock 775Dual-VSTA, proc is Pentium D 820 2.8GHz. Now still using stock cooler + AS5, temp quite high...60-62C at idle... sweat.gif waiting for AS5 to sink in...hopefully the temp will drop a bit... flex.gif

I will update my temp after I buy a after market cooler...still wandering which one to buy... hmm.gif I will some research first... laugh.gif

Just want to share my temp with Noctua and AS5 before AS5 sink in..

Attached Image

My mom received my Noctua NH-12F and NC-U6 this afternoon... rclxm9.gif I back home around 6.40pm...

I start from around 8pm take out all the part from my PC and install back all the thing and the Noctua cooler till 11.15pm ++... whew...so tired... flex.gif

Keep on forget this and that...then need to take out the exhaust fan several time... doh.gif

From what I can when I start the PC, the temp for my PD 820 is 57C, then it drop to 56C just in several seconds, then after several seconds, it drop again to 55C, then drop to 54C, then to 53C, but then it increase to 54C..then now stay at 56C as my emule start downloading movie... whistling.gif

From the result, it not impresive me as I thought it will at least drop till 48-50C after I install it...maybe I need to wait for AS5 to sink first... hmm.gif

So, currently, Idle will be 53-55C...load don't know yet coz haven stress it...will report the Idle and load temp after AS5 sink in... icon_rolleyes.gif

What you guys result, please share... drool.gif

Forget to say, I install using Orientation A (90 degree) as it will block my NC-U6 if I install it using orientation B (180 degree). The cap near the proc there nearly cause me can't install the cooler, but thanks to Noctua great design, the fastening bracket can be adjust, so no problem... sweat.gif As I am first time using those fan clips, it took me about half an hour to fix the fan clips in...I put the fan on right, mean the air push from right to left...I want to make it at left but the NC-U6 block it... shakehead.gif my mobo not really suitable to install both NC-U6 and NH-12F, but my mobo stock NB cooler even suck...

Now I wonder my casing air flow will be a problem coz the empty space inside the casing now is very little...my PSU want to suck air out but NH-12F also want to suck the air from the little space, here some simulation, sorry for my bad drawing, my art not very good...tongue.gif

Attached Image

laugh.gif

Edited: I forget to add my exhaust fan into the simulation... tongue.gif

Why dont wanna put the HSF at the opposite possition??
I think it can help to cool your CPU better. Becos now your PSU is blocking the Noctua HSF to suck air and blow it towards the Noctua HS. Moreover your PSU fan is sucking air out..
I think your NB heastsink dont need any air flow to achieve better cooling result. Becoz NC U6 is design to operate passive.
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=10094660
If put the HSF too near to the PSU, i might block your PSU air flow. Causing your PSU running hot. I encounter tht b4.
*
Ya, I am thinking about the same thing... I will change to 180 degree this Saturday...and I will take out the NC-U6 and install back the stock NB cooler...

I have no choice, if want NC-U6, need to put as 90 degree, else, can put 180 degree...

So, I will put 180 degree for better cooling for my proc, NB is ok lor with the stock cooler... biggrin.gif

i think it is very hard to determine which heatsink is the best since there is alot of factor and variable need to be calculate when doing the review. TR Ultra 120, TT BigTyphoon VX and Noctua NH-U12F are some of the heatsink that obtained good review and feedback on it.
*
ya, that true. Have a good heatsink but have bad air flow, will reduce the heatsink performance too... sweat.gif

@sHawTY, irangan or any forumer who have Noctua NH-12F

Wanna ask a question before I re-install my NH-12F. After install the backplate to the mobo, you direct screw the heatsink to your mobo before put in to the casing or you screw it after put the mobo in to the casing? unsure.gif

This few day I keep thinking of this question. The day I install it after put my mobo in the casing, and it take me quite long time to able to screw both the scews. doh.gif

btw...the heatsink heatpipe is so near to my side panel...not more than 2mm I think... sweat.gif
