The only scenario where the hospital requires a signature from family is if the patient is unconscious and surgery is required.

The dudes supervisor sent the guy to the hospital, so it is unlikely that this was a car accident.

Most probably the dude attempted suicide by jumping. Cut wrists is unlikely because that injury does not require surgery. Overdose of pills is unlikely because the supervisor said the dude lost alot of blood.

I seriously question this thread's sincerity. In most job application forms, there is a section for contact numbers of next of kin. Company HRs will attempt to contact this number in the event of any emergencies.

You don't just simply put out someone's phone number with some emergency story and ask strangers to call. Firstly it is not professional. Secondly it may constitute as harrassment if this story turns out to be fake, and this kind of case is an indictable offence (meaning you can go to jail).

I hope for the person who raised this issue that this is a genuine case.

Usually emergency doctor will just start the operation to save lifes... dangerous operation only require signature... correct me if i'm wrong...

Any life saving operation, formality is normally ignored in order to save the life first and stabilise the patient.

Any other operation which is not a life saving procedure, then will require a signature. For example if you are losing blood, doctors won't wait for signature to clamp your arteries and sew you back up. But if your foot is infected and needs to be amputated due to your loss of blood, then yes they need your signature or family.
