Hi Sifu's,
Newbie reporting here. Been into timepiece since 2010. Learn to appreciate it from my friend. The downside is, I can't afford luxury timepiece. So, in my collection are only 1 seiko 5, 1 guess, 1 esprit, 1 invicta and 10 unit of kentang/imitation/orichina watch.

So finally the time has come. I managed to save RM5k and decide to buy my first expensive watch. So, I need your advice what should be my first buy. Since I can't afford to buy frequently, I might stick to this one for a long time. So my budget will be RM5k + creditcard (depend on the watch value but max is RM3k). With this budget, should I buy;

1. Fortis B-42
2. Pre-owned Tudor Black Bay
3. Pre-owned Maurice Lacroix Pontos
4. IWC Mark 16
5. Pre-owned Omega Speedmaster reduced
6. Longines
7. Pre-owned Monbtblanc

Or you have other in mind? Appreciate your wise advise.

Just wondering does AD allow you to use half credit card and half cash for luxury watch payment??

If you like flieger, you can try out stowa... good quality watch but not in the range of luxury..
*
So far at Sincere KLCC can. I've done some watch tasting brows.gif and ask whether cash+cc can be done, they said sure!

Preown watches usually not easy to come by may take awhile looking
Iwc mark 16 is also pre own right? A used one goes for usd$2.6k or rm$8.7k

http://www.chrono24.com/en/iwc/mark-xvi-pi...&usedOrNew=used

Tudor black bay at rm$8k budget can be hard, popular watch

ML if u up budget can get get this at great deal at grey
http://www.thewatchery.com/detail.asp?iq=1...MB3912314131734

U buying a brand or a quality watch? Longines a lot of diff watches
*
I got a friend who wants to sell his mark 16 (not the same link uve provided) but is priced at RM13,500 but i will try to nego more (maybe buy the watch only minus the bracelet since the bracelet itself costed rm4k)

Yeah,so far i can't find a black bay within my budget range.

Im looking for a quality watch which can serve me for years. My preference would be something like;

Tudor blue heritage, nomos, iwc portofino, maurice lacroix pontos s chrono, longines master collection, fortis flieger daydate b-42, rolex submariner (of course), tag heuer heritage calibre 16.

Anything that is with white dial n blue hands.

Do you where i can get the cheapest watch just like longines master collection; perpetual triple day date with moonphase?

Get it!
So u doing what to replace the missing bracelet?
Don't say u carrying it like a pocket watch
*
Thats the problem right now.
Pair it with a nato strap for the time being and order a taylor-made leather strap from Gunny Straps.
What do you think?

Issue with custom made strap is if u sweat a lot. It will stink. Normal leather not made to take sweat and water well. Don't get me wrong gunny makes good straps but maybe not suitable for all yr round humid weather. Just have to pay a little more attention taking care.

Or go for those that is design or treated to resist water.

Thanks for the suggestion bro.
Will have a look on it.

My no 1 watch on the list was the IWC Portuguese (ref IW371446) but hey, as long its IWC, i am definitely satisfied.

Brand conscious! Power of marketing!

Oh u can go for those shell cordovan straps they naturally resist water. Problem is they typically cost more than normal calf leather. Ask if gunny make those and price.
*
yeah...it cost USD165 at Hodinkee.

The last g-shock i wore was in 1993. Maybe its time to buy one just for the go. Also thinking of starting a mid range watch collection like seiko, orient, citizen, casio plus some homage like Stuhrling and Steinhart which is more affordable to my pocket.

then guess ur knowledge of g-shock also from 1993 tongue.gif
now got g-shocks that are more expensive than most orients...
*
Yes they're expensive now. Just flipped thru their website just now but rm300-rm1k per watch is still within my reach.

My ultimate would be the IWC Portuguese + Glashuette Original and an ultimate Omega Speedmaster. Hope this is within my reach in 10yrs time.

i was at ur shoe just last week. wanted to get either the three. But i change my mind and aim the new GMT Master 2 Day & Night instead.

IWC - god knows what happen to them.
Glashutte - the ones that hit me is as expensive as $32k, the Senator Chonometer.
Omega - the moon landing was a hoax. lol just kid.. it tried to be Rolex.  laugh.gif
*
Yeah, a Rolex might be interesting/impressive also. Always been thinking of the Submariner. Maybe my mind would change overtime just like 3yrs ago when I thought u-boat was the ultimate watch... Hahahaha

My friend who wanna sell the mark 16 has 3 rare rolex + rare omega speedmaster (which omega themselves wrote a letter to him congrats on having the watch), an autavia heuer lemania 5100, bell n ross by sinn and some more i cant recall. He has 1 box = 12 watch = rm200k++
