hi guys, a question...i just got a msi gt70 running on 1tb hard disk..and planning to change it to a msata SSD (i think mine support msata)..
i also read up there are two kinds of drive, which are boot drive and primary hard drive...now if i am to change/add a SSD, should i replace the 1tb hard disk with the SSD? or just plug in the SSD on the boot drive?
i have not open the lappy and all my question are based on my curiosity..planning to change/add a SSD end of this month..any feedback would be appreciated..thanks

GT70 should aupport up to 3 SSD via mSATA, correct me if i am wrong... i think u can add in a SSD and then transfer ur system file to the SSD as boot drive... smile.gif

*
So far my unit is still ok. Did not face the issue u currently facing. Software issue perhaps? Played bf4 campaign on high setting on my lappy yesterday. Damn satisfied with the graphics smile.gif

Hi guys, am currently using GT70 and just installed Battlefield 4..When running the game, it asked me to upgrade my driver for a better performance...the problem is, NVIDIA Geforce Experience only detect latest driver up to ver 311.83.
Not that the driver got any issues running games, but just wandering does anybody update their graphic driver here? if so which firmware and does it run better than the 311.83? thanks smile.gif

311.83 quite old, I keep updating Nvidia driver as well, currently using 334.89. But I never try using beta, you can go to Nvidia website to look for changelog. If I am not mistaken, 334.89 has several gaming improvement varies from 5%~20%.

thanks for the feedback bro, 20% performance gain is a lot..don't know why my Geforce Experience only detect 311.83, probably its the MSI own driver i not too sure..will check on the NVIDIA website in a while..hopefully the update can be done n run smoothly

Yor welcome, for MSI own drivers, I suggest you just download Realtek, Bios, Killer N1202, firmware etc from MSI website.

Nvidia, Intel drivers just update from respective website, even Windows update will automatically update intel driver as well.

alrite, done updating to 334.89 without any issue wink.gif thanks again, appreciated your help and advice thumbup.gif

hi guys, would love to hear your opinion and advice here.

got myself a gt70 few months back..only last 3 weeks i connect the laptop to my avr onkyo 608 receiver to get better sounding through hdmi when playing games and watching movies.

the problem that i got is the fan will go to overdrive mode whenever hdmi is connected. the fan will revert back to normal once the graphic is switched to the onboard intel graphic. as i checked, the are no part on the laptop was overheating..it is just the fan kicking to overdrive mode...any of u guys got this issue? anyway to remedy?

i tried reinstalling both onboard and nvidia drivers, still the issue remain..hope anybody can advice..thanks icon_question.gif

do you use MSI dragon gaming center to check fan speed first?

Not sure ur overdrive mode = cooler boost? Fan speed under cooler boost is at least 4700 rpm, normal mode is only 2000 rpm.

The fan noisy like mad..only thing the lappy is cool..did not use msi dragon gaming center..perhaps later i will install and update here

I dont have any FHD TV or gadgets to test, cant help you there.

From your description, it sounds like Cooler Boost automatically kicks in whenever you use HDMI connection, have you tried with other devices?
*
later today will test connecting directly to the tv instead of the AVR..hopefully i can resolve this issue. been searching over to google, there are at least 1 guy got same issue with me.
