i called msi service careline. A friendly support personnel confirmed with me we can upgrade the hdd/ssd and memory ourselves. As long as we don't break anything during the process. Then they will honor the warranty.

But they still recommend us to get to nearest service center to do it for us.
From my point of view, I wanna add in a hdd myself, 5mins job. But travel to service center and probably get charged to do it? No way for me.

Same answer I got.

THEY REALLY HAVE TO PUT THIS IN WRITING SOMEWHERE SO THAT NO SC CAN SCREW US OVER IN THE FUTURE.

Ehem MSI-NB. Ehem.

Please notify your superiors that us gamers will LOVE your brand (and recommend it to everyone we know) if we are given OFFICIAL permission to upgrade the RAM/Storage on our own without voiding the warranty. In turn, we will honor our side of the bargain by making sure NOTHING ELSE is disturbed in the process.

Also, the RAM/Storage upgrades that we do is in no way the responsibility of MSI. If the RAM/Storage device that we add in breaks, we will be solely responsible for it's repair/replacement.

Consequently, if someone unskilled tries to upgrade their RAM and ends up poking a screwdriver clean through their graphics chip, than we can definitely accept it when MSI says that he/she voided his warranty.

Thank you.

FULLY AGREED with you bro.

MSI officially do not recommend users to upgrade RAM/HDD/SSD by themselves

We recommend users:

-Upgrade RAM with our Authorized Dealers or Service Centre
-Upgrade HDD/SSD at Service Centre

FYI, Service Centre will diagnosis case by case whether users void the warranty or not.

As for Warranty for MSI MY notebooks, MSI offers 2 years warranty:

-First year Global Warranty
-Second year Local Warranty.
P/S: Don't worry all, MSI-NB is still around  laugh.gif

Do we get charged if we bring our nb to service center to upgrade/change hdd/ram ?
It's good to see an official MSI member answering our questions smile.gif

Guys, how about Asus G750JX? Good alternative to gt70/gs70? Am considering Asus now.

ASUS service center will never charge you for duration of product warranty.. yes you may upgrade RAM/SSD by yourself but recommended bring service center as ASUS center worst they are..u not meet MSI yet lol.. well this is my opinion laa

I see....so far my g73jw worked fine. So nvr have experience dealing wif Asus service. Anyway, screw the damn warranty seal. If MSI dare to void my warranty, they will feel my wrath. I'm buying 2 laptops...so gotta consider carefully b4 commit.

Thanks for the advice mate. I'm giving it another try because I missed the instruction to use Killer Cleaner 64 before installing the latest suite.
Regarding the warranty seal on the bottom hatch, I can only share my experience. I screwed the entire factory HDD partition when I was trying to clone it into the Samsung 840 Pro. Yes, don't ask me how... but that Samsung Data Migration software screwed both the source and target disk lol!

My hatch seal was gone/broken. I took it to MSI in Auburn and the guy didn't even say anything about the broken seal. I did called the call centre and was inform that as long as we're just upgrading RAM and HDD, not doing anything fancy stuff we're ok. So there you go.

I have been using 326.80 Beta when I first got my laptop. Not much difference from 326.41 Beta. By the way didn't you know the new 327.23 WHQL has been out since few days ago? Try that one?
Yup, I have the same problem but it seem to have 'calm' down. If you're using the driver set from MSI, it is recommended that you turn off the application monitoring from the app. If you're using the driver set from Killer website, then you have to disable the service (if not mistaken, the name is Qualcomm something) from services.exe.

By the way the above didn't work for me. You might experience a different result, perhaps a positive one. I got the above from some forums. Mine seems to do it whenever it feels like it. LOL! And only when the connection is idle. When I'm downloading or gaming, its stable. Strange stuff.

Woot, finally fixed this problem. Problem is I can connect to wifi with internet connection fine. After I left it idling for about 1hour, the internet connection dropped and become "Limited Access". Wifi still connected.
Googled and found out alot of people with Win8 have this problem. I tried install latest Killer driver from MSI, still same. Then try the latest driver from Killer website, also same.

Finally i found a solution yesterday, YAY smile.gif

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...5f-5ab34cca7221

I tried Method 3 from above link and "turn On the Download over metered connections from your PC Settings->Devices->Download over metered connections"

Now my connection never goes to Limited Access when idling smile.gif
