Just received my refurbished Nexus 7 2012 32GB Wifi version, the original Android is 4.2, so upgrade times from 4.2 -> 4.3 -> 4.4.2 -> 4.4.3 -> 4.4.4.

After that, there is no 5.0 detect, heard Google pulled the plug cause of slowness of Lollipop on old Nexus 7, now patiently wait for 5.01 meanwhile KitKat serve me alright..

those that get OTA to 5.0 is wifi version. N7 2012 or 2013 mobile version xde update yet. even factory image pun xde lagi. I everyday checking it here.

If got dy I'll surely do a clean flash on my N7 2012. But duno why 3g version no OTA or factory image yet.

Well, u can do a clean flash. dl the factory image from the link for Nexus 7 2012 wifi version and flash it.

what is ur current version? 4.4.4? if 4.4.4 means it's KTU84P. 5.0 is LRX21P. SO u nid to dl the link for 'LRX21P from KTU84P'.

hmm, have u done these steps? Try to force update it.

Anything that you do is at your own risk:

Put your device into air-plane mode (i.e. disable all connectivity options)
Go to Settings -> Apps -> All (tab) -> Google Services Framework
Click on Clear cache (if enabled)
Click on Clear data (and OK the warning)
Click on Force stop (and OK the warning)
Disable air-plane mode (e.g. enable WiFI)
Check that you have access to the network
Wait (usually no more than a couple of minutes)
Optionally, go back to Settings -> About Phone/Tablet -> System Updates -> Check now
You should get a prompt to apply the new update (assuming there is one available for your device)

Btw, the xda link is the OTA files saved as zip file. So if u flash it, it actually serves the same  function as an OTA update. 

then i guess u have to flash the OTA update. Just dl the update from 4.4.4 to 5.0 from the xda link. And flash it via twrp or cwm.

Just be sure of ur Nexus 7 version.

It'll be nice if u can get Nvidia Shield Tablet. Stock android with Tegra K1. 

Battery was not charging properly. It's a 'common' defect for the Nexus 7. It took me forever to charge my battery. Sometimes I plug in the battery still does not charge. Sometimes I turn off, plug it in, it still does not charge.

Maybe yours is not battery problem. Try what I did. Install Battery Monitor Widget and monitor charging levels (mA) when it is plugged in. Before changing the USB, the value is -ve even when plugged in; after changing, the value is about 1000 mA when plugged in.

4-5 hours from low battery sounds about average. Remember, the Nexus 7 tablet has a big battery, not like smartphone charge 2-3 hours can d.

Bro, that is not normal d. Even if playing heavy games while charging, it will still charge provided you're using the stock 2mA charger. If you're using other lower capacity charger, then discharge during usage may happen. Will also result in slower charging.

Try install the Battery Monitor widget just to monitor and double check.

err ... ipad charger? you mean the plug head? What about the cable? IINM, the cable also makes a difference.

oh. That's a 2amp cable IINM, so I guess there's something really wrong with your tablet. To be sure, have you tested the tablet by trying other chargers? Have you test the charger by trying other devices?

If really tablet issue, it could be the micro usb slot problem that a few others here have already experienced. You'll probably need to take it to technician to check.
