QUOTE(llaw @ Sep 17 2013, 04:35 PM) I'm using slotted/cross-drilled rotors on Myvi... love the braking but cannot tahan the noise. Sounds like electric motor/generator powering down when hard braking. Creeping time also noisy ironically the stupid bendix is noisier than the front brakes... ceramic my ass for the noise, i think it really depends on the pads (although YES slotted/x drilled WILL introduce more noise thanks to the additional grind/friction which also would mean more pad wear) as the EBC greens are generally damn quiet unless it's on cold/slow bite and for my case, i have to wind down the windows to really hear the sound. but hey, when the rotor/pads were new, the "turbine sound" while hard braking was addictive

Use other fluids at your own risk. most people would never EVER reach the boiling point of DOT4, and DOT4 is cheaper, last longer than DOT 5.1 that tends to hygroscope much easier/faster. so yeah if you never bother about braking performance (touge downhills/track days), i'd reckon one would never ever need to bother with DOT 5.1

Google also tells me the same thing. Mitsubishi's manual also tells me the same thing. But it's up to you la which one you wanna use, your money, no one stopping you. Just a word of warning to the other owners, don't think that oh since 5.1 > 5 > 4 > 3 therefore it's the best and I must use it. Just saying. Don't come here complaining that your brakes fail one day. Don't play play with your brakes.

My theory is that if your brake rotor able to dissipate the heat fast enough, then it shouldn't boil up the brake fluid

Don't come here complaining that your brakes fail one day. Don't play play with your brakes. most track cars/kaki use performance DOT4 (unofficially "super DOT4"), not 5.1 btw. super dot 4 cost more than 5.1 by far, have generally no drawbacks of 5.1, while having much higher temperature threshold. which means no, higher numbers don't mean better if anything, my choice for the 5.1 is because i'm a cheapjing driving cheap car and i guess i fit in this "cheapjing community" eh? oh and DOT5 don't exist

Hi. I would like to ask some opinion . Currently I'm using inspira running on 16" stock rim with cc5 205/60/16. It has served me well for the past 45k km. due to my rough driving my front tyre has suffered and I think it's time to get a new one.
At the same time I was thinking to upgrade from 16" to 17" sports rim. What should I know/do before upgrading ? What tyre profile should I use? Can I get those for <rm400/pc? If so what kind/model that suit my style and budget? Regarding rim, I ve been looking at lenso project d/ venom. So far I heard its better to get ori lenso/advanti rather than imitation. Is it possible to get those set of rim with tyres < rm3k. At most probably up to 3.5k.
This is my first attempt to upgrade rim. Inputs from fellow forumers are much appreciated. Thank u
