Hi guys, Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk7 finally launched in Malaysia with the price tag of:

3 Door - RM209,888
5 Door - RM217,888 Optional upgrade RM10,000 for leather seat, DCC control and driver side electronic seat.

I had just went to one of the VW showroom and test drive the new golf and I would say the speed is crazy and amazing.

Here IMO, the difference btw MK6 and MK7

1. Definitely car exterior and interior (headlight, dashboard interface, steering wheel, and etc)
2. Slight increase in power additional 10hp
3. Electronic handbrake
4. Slightly longer and wider

Things missing in MK7
1. Keyless entry
2. Push start button
3. Electronic seat on both front seat
4. Better in car entertainment head unit (maybe like Audi B&O)
5. Side and armrest larger compartment

Hence, guys u r welcome to share ur opinion towards this car... Thanks....

my personal preference, after considering price vs specs

volvo v40 > A200 > mk7

to me VW put really cut throat price, pushing their luck, bad service.

Im not a performance guy tho, when live in kl no point buy fast car when always stuck in jam

And the normal 5 door GTi is a shame on spec wise, fabric seats! really? for a 200k car, no push-start button and yet need to insert the key and press on the brake in order to start, no electric adjustable seats also a no no.

Tested drive today..
A lot improved from gti mk6.. With lighter chassis and increased torque.. I feel very easy pedal like Japanese car.
It will be very exciting if available for remap to stage 1 or 2.

Tested both standard spec and tech spec.
Without dcc feature, the car rear absorber too bumpy.. Uncomfortable.

Cabin noise is louder than my evo7 when hitting speed bump or small hole. It's not make for comfort I guess. My car is 10 years old and with very hard adjustable absorber.

But not so sport too. Handling is overrated by many review. What I mean in performance or spirit drive.
I thought can beat fd2r. No.. I expect too much.
Xds+ feature still not enough. Need VAG or haltex which only available in performance version but not available in Malaysia.

I think this model still sit same position in hatchback class. All rounder benchmark car.
Still in same level but slightly improved.

Actually the fabric tartan seats is an icon that is associated with the Golf GTI. Started off from the Mk1 design. Even the Polo GTI has those tartan fabric seats.

Pricewise - Expensive for what you get. I agree that the exclusion of the electronic adjustable seats and sunroof doesn't justify the RM217k price. I also agree that DCC is a must so the OTR price with the tech pack will be >RM230k.

Performance wise - Unbelievably sharp and responsive. A great car on the track and on normal daily drives with the occasional spirited weekend excursions.

You count the value drop after a yr for it and that discount is like just barely cover it. We are in 3rd quater of 2013, next week is 4th quarter already.
Paying for such a high price for it, might as well get the latest and enjoy to the best.

The MK7 GTI is way too comfortable compared to the MK6 GTI. The engine sound is really really near to not noticeable. The tartan fabric seats just remind me of the GTI signature, I do prefer that over the leather seats. However big lose out compared to MK6 GTI is the DCC which should come as standard for all variants.

Handling wise, the MK7 GTI wins MK6 GTI hands down. As a day to day driver's car, the MK7 GTI definitely the best choice compared to A250, V40 or the 125i.

Agreed and on the track, it is the faster car compared to the lot as well. Blazingly fast!
