well i'm a rookie in this IT/computer field.. wanna know what is a good skill or programming language to master and have good market value? i've seen a few job oppurtunities which require knowledge in PHP, ASP and such.. is this the market demand now?

from my IMHO,i think you should expert in C, then there will be no problem to learn others programming language.

Nowadays, you need to master a few programing languages to be marketable.

Java is one of them, not easy to master. There are demand to it but only on nihe market.

The easaier path is Microsft Dot.net. It is easier to pick up and widely used by users.

There are other language like COBOL and RPG which are still in use. Demand wise are from Banks and IBM sites.

actually it depends on your interest and how fast you pick up things, my point of view C and java is still one of the good ones, can program anything on any platform

I hv 1 year plus experience in php. But still cant get a good paid job..

i highly recommend JAVA & .net (focus on C#, vb.net & ASP.net is too easy)
