Nowadays, you need to master a few programing languages to be marketable.

Java is one of them, not easy to master. There are demand to it but only on nihe market.

The easaier path is Microsft Dot.net. It is easier to pick up and widely used by users.

There are other language like COBOL and RPG which are still in use. Demand wise are from Banks and IBM sites.
