hi all, desperately need some advice here. I used to have a N36L microserver as my NAS hosting all my videos, photos and documents at home. Unfortunately, it was damaged during thunderstorm (by lightning). Initially thought it was powersupply damage, hence i bought a pico-psu to change. When i turn on the microserver, the logo lights up red (critical issue). Sent to shop to check and they confirmed motherboard died.
HP quoted me 800 usd to change the motherboard. Instead of changing the MOBO, i thought of getting another microserver (Gen 8). My question below:
1) I've installed Nas4Free on usb thumbdrive on the N36L. Configured 4 drives into ZFS storage. can i just unplug the usb thumbdrive and plug in to the Gen 8 microserver with the 4 disk? Will it run?
2) Is there anyway to transfer the ZFS array over without wiping as my data is all inside there (especially irreplaceable photos). Learnt my lesson on backup.. i actually bought an external drive to do backup on the day the lightning strike. T.T
appreciate the advice and assistance. If anyone is selling their N36L, do give me a buzz.

just to confirm: 1) Plug in usb thumbdrive containing nas4free boot install into new server (Either Gen 8 or N54L) 2) plug in all 4 hdd (hdd is not damaged.... i think) 3) boot up, do ZFS pool import and i'm good to go?
If thats the case, then i'll hunt down for a new server.. Money fly...

my brother got it for me from US. do you want to buy from me since i just bought a new n54L.
It's still and comes with power brick. you'll need to get a standard laptop charger power chord though.
Bought it at 60 usd. 150w pico-psu with 102w power brick.
