WD finally come out with a list of the SMR RED HDD. 2TB-6TB EFAX RED drives are SMR, so don't mix them with your older EFRX drives. Are those newer EFAX drives arrived in Malaysia already?

A lot other seller doesn't even mention the drive model so it's a risk now if buy end up with EFAX drive. Some maybe list it or picture show EFRX but never update their listing and picture after receive new batch.

Whoa, then need to ask the seller whether it's EFAX or not before buying, or HDD is another of those thing better buy from store front. Delivery to home is another big risk.

Anyone shuck WB My Book 8tb external drive and put it into their NAS? They're like half price of what Malaysia is selling, in Amazon US.

That price is really tempting. And WD so far no SMR drive for 8TB.
I believe its fairly simple to shuck it since a lot US people been doing it.

One con is if drive any issue, not worth the cost to send back.
Another frequent occurrence with Amazon US is receiving returned drive that have been shucked and replaced with smaller size drive.

Yeah, that's the risky part. I'm getting mixed report of the white label HDD they used inside, some say air-filled and noisy, unlike the Helium filled Ultrastar drives in the past.
