QUOTE(rurushu @ Aug 19 2013, 12:14 AM) Well, currently they're discussing and trying to make it like a total duck v1 by changing the "FMJ" engravings on the back to the Poker suits... ==||| It looks very good, even have better material, albeit being a copy. LOL... the price... hahahaha.... I think I wont buy it.... since it is not the "original", though I'm not saying that it is fake or whatsoever because duck0113 himself doesn't register the design as his or whatsoever, just that me myself cant accept "wannabes" that is all, but the Poker suits brass weights are nice, just that they're not that practical as they add little weight to the case... maybe use other material can increase weight? But feng mentioned that the case dimension has been tweaked with to make it a bit thinner. |

QUOTE(justnits @ Aug 20 2013, 08:27 AM) more like lubing the stabilizers or changing them, changing switches and possibly adding in LED! oohh...but thanks for the headstart on not to lube blue switches...i might possibly do dat if i took them out LOL so it will become like wat? a blue-brown mute switch? blue's clicky and tactile but without the actual click sound hahaha QUOTE(Human10 @ Aug 20 2013, 08:36 AM) The clicky sound will not be muted, not all of them.Do you even lube? You'll end up with uneven clicky feel all over the place. Some will click loudy, some soft, some not at all. This is affected by the free moving slider of the clicky switches, which also affects the key feel. In the end, it's uneven key feel all over the board. |

If it is so hard for you to reproduce the problem, the people fixing your keyboard is not going to sit there and try to reproduce it all day. He/she is not paid to do that.He will try 5 minit, no problem, then send back to you. |

QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Aug 22 2013, 08:52 PM) Costar Stabilizer: Boss, you so big DUCKY customer, cannot influence them fix the stabilizer meh?Cons - Pings - Rattles Pros - More even spread of pressure across long keys Cherry Stabilizer: Cons - Long keys sometimes gets "stuck" around the edges. Especially if you are using MX Black and tapping the edge of the space bar. Pros - Quieter than Costar Options: 1. Use back old style WYSE keyboard Cherry stabilizer 2. Remold the stabilizer inner portion, so that it is similar to how the modders do it see: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=34759.0 |

QUOTE(kyrmian @ Aug 25 2013, 02:01 AM) then that's a good thing. i remember reading someone actually soldered everything and forgot to mount the stabs. That's cause the bloody plate designers don't design for plate mount cherry stabs.Plate mount cherry stabs can be mounted before or after, by just removing a few switches. In that sense, if you have a plate mount stab board and want to do the stabilizer mod, it's pretty easy. |

QUOTE(168257061 @ Aug 26 2013, 07:30 AM) Yuck. This also hapenned to another Forummer's RK9000 who asked me to fix it for him.My friend's rosewill W and E suddenly died. I thought is switch problem. When I try to desolder, the whole copper pad plate just came off together with solder! Which means the pad is already loosen in the first place. It happens the same when I try to desolder another. The quality is surprising! Fixed it in hard way...scratch the circuit for copper and soldered to connect it with switch pin When he sent it for warranty, they said liquid damage This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Aug 26 2013, 07:38 AM |

QFR has almost similar PCB like the RK9000 but not 100% sure. FILCO 2nd Gen, the current generation, has a higher quality PCB. |

I use denture tabs. Tesco brand.
Put keycaps, add 3 or 4 Tabs for a set, and leave it for 30minutes. Come back drain and dry. Clean as a whistle, and you get the minty smell too. |

QUOTE(kyrmian @ Sep 2 2013, 10:03 PM) Yes, question is, costar or not? That answers the question, not answering which has better quality? That's like comparing a leopold with a filco. The misconception I used to have is, if it comes from same OEM it must have the same build quality. Then i realized, nope, that's the wrong concept. It does not apply for all. A story my friend used to share. Acson and York Aircon comes from the same factory. Don't believe me? Go check out the design of a common York unit vs an Acson unit. So he told me, when he worked there, they just stick the brand badge based on orders, same QC and all. In this case, Acson and York has the same quality, just different badge. Do take this with a grain of salt, as all this is based on hearsay. In the case of Costar branded keyboards, the devil is in the PCB material QFR, RW etc uses 1 layer PCB. Not sure of the material type but definitely not FR4 if FILCO had to take an effort to promote that. Comparing FILCO with RW or QFR, the solder mask feels more robust, and that it is of FR4 with 2 layer routing. In this case, production cost would be higher. No company would increase production cost if it does not come with better build quality. And based on my first hand experience, FILCO PCB is better built. |
