'A meeting in coarse cotton, sixpence for leather and laces. Factory hardened arms mix oil and mud. A century and a quarter forward, Gunners together; battles ahead. From those first heavy steps; Men will become gods.'

Arsenal Football Club was originally founded in 1886 by employees of the the Dial Square workshop at the Royal Arsenal, which was an armaments factory in South-East London, in a district named Woolwich. Consequently, they were first named ‘Dial Square’ A Scotsman, David Danskin is the man said to have bought the first football for the club. Among the first players for the club was former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, Fred Beardsley who would be the one to obtain a set of red kits, the colour the Arsenal still wear today. The first match for the new club took place on December 11, 1886 in an open field in the Isle of Dogs (another London district) against a club known as the Eastern Wanderers in which the club won 6-0. What is interesting is that other than the date of this match, everything else written so far may possibly be a myth.
By Christmas however, they had changed the name of their club to Royal Arsenal. They originally played on Plumstead Common before moving to Manor Ground in 1888. Royal Arsenal would move away and then return to Manor Ground as Invicta Ground proved too costly for them. Playing in the amateur leagues proved fruitful for Royal Arsenal as they won a couple of trophies and largely outclassed the other amateur clubs from London. But it wasn’t all rosy for them as the professional clubs attempted to sign their players and they were subsequently banned for amateur football for being too professional, which relegated them to only playing friendlies and in the FA Cup. So 1893 in a bid to gain access into the Football League, Royal Arsenal changed their name to Woolwich Arsenal and became a limited liability company, and attempted to buy the Manor Ground. This ended up working and Woolwich Arsenal began life in the Second Division, where they would spend eleven years, generally finishing mid-table every year. Under the guidance of manager Harry Bradshaw, Woolwich Arsenal would gain promotion to the First Division, where they would lose their manager before the season started to Fulham. They would never come close to challenging for the League title due to financial concerns. Their playing grounds were on the South side of London where most clubs in the division were on the North side, and so to stay afloat they were forced into selling their top players, which resulted in smaller attendances for home matches. In 1910 Woolwich Arsenal went into voluntary liquidation as they were on the verge of bankruptcy when Sir Henry Norris, the chairman of Fulham FC, and other businessmen bought the club. Norris was well aware of the financial difficulties of the location of Woolwich Arsenal and so attempted to merge the club with Fulham, and when that failed, attempted to have them play on alternating Saturdays, which also failed. And so Norris focused on finding a new location for the club, eventually setting his sights on Highbury, in North London, which was met with opposition from the fans and the residents of Highbury. Norris forced it through and spent 125,000 pounds on a new Stadium (9.5 million in 2010 prices) Having been relegated back to the Second Division, Woolwich Arsenal would move to Highbury in 1913, and change their name from ‘Woolwich Arsenal’ to ‘The Arsenal. After four years of no competitive football due to World War 1, The Arsenal would gain promotion into the First Division in a dubious way. In the final season of football in 1914, Arsenal had finished in 6th place, but the First Division was expanding from 20 clubs to 22 and two clubs were to be given the extra two places in the division. Chelsea was given the one place, despite being relegated in the previous season. The other club that had been relegated was none other than Tottenham Hotspur, and they were in the running for the extra place along with Barnsley and Wolves, who had finished ahead of Arsenal. Despite all this, Norris argued that The Arsenal should obtain promotion due to their “long service to league football” and the League board agreed, voting 18-8 to promote The Arsenal. It was alleged that they only managed this promotion due to bribery by Norris with his good friend and chairman of Liverpool, John McKenna, and has fueled the long-standing intense rivalry with Tottenham every since. It has also been argued that Norris was aware of match fixing before the war by Liverpool and Manchester United and used it as a tool to be promoted. Whatever the case, The Arsenal gained entrance into the First Division in 1919 and have never left since, holding the record for the longest unbroken stretch of top-flight football.
After some very poor showing and narrowly avoiding relegation, Norris had enough of his manager Leslie Knighton and hired Herbert Chapman in 1925. Chapman would put his stamp on The Arsenal, changing the way the club did things. Chapman changed the training philosophy and physiotherapy regimes and added numbers to the players shirts, a practice that is now common-place across the footballing world. He also altered the kit, adding white sleeves in 1933, and insisted The Arsenal be known as just ‘Arsenal’ so they would be the first club in alphabetical order every time. He even managed to change the name of the nearby tube station from Gillespie Road to Arsenal, which now has a 52 metre mural to commemorate the team’s move from Highbury in 2006. Chapman also changed the way the game was played on the pitch with the new formation now called ‘WM‘ which can also be described as a 3-2-5 or a 3-2-2-3. It proved so successful that by the late 1930s, most clubs had adopted this formation In Hebert Chapman’s first season in charge, Arsenal made their best finish ever in the league by placing second, but the next few seasons had them stay mid-table. Norris allowed Chapman to spend large sums of money however, and nearly won their first ever trip to the FA Cup final, losing 1-0 to Cardiff City. Three years later, and after buying Arsenal greats Cliff Bastin, David Jack and Alex James, Arsenal made the FA Cup final once more, this time defeating Chapman’s old club Huddersfield Town 2-0 and earning the clubs first ever major trophy. They then won the League title for the first time in 1931, recording their best ever win against Grimsby Town, 9-1, which still stands. In 1932 Arsenal lost the FA Cup Final to Newcastle 2-1 after they had a goal that was wrongly awarded as a goal kick. The 1932-33 season would see Arsenal win their 2nd league title. In January 1934, Herbert Chapman would suddenly pass away from pneumonia, but that would not stop the winning ways as they would win the League again that season, as well as 1934-35 and 1937-38 and another FA Cup in 1936. Arsenal were such a strong club that in 1934, England had seven Arsenal players start a match and defeated the then, World Champions Italy 3-2, and is still a record for most players from a single club starting a match for England. On March 9, 1935 Arsenal saw it’s largest ever attendance for a match versus Sunderland, counting 73,295 fans at Highbury. The Second World War would suspend all competitive football for the 1939-40 season, and Highbury was used as an ARP station (Air Raid Precautions), and had a bomb destroy the North Bank roof and setting fire to the terrace. With Highbury taken Arsenal played their home matches at White Hart Lane while football still continued, although the matches do not count in official statistics as star players would play as ‘guests’ for various clubs when not in the armed forces. The war claimed nine first team Arsenal players, the most of any club in the top flight. Arsenal were also afflicted with a heavy financial burden of repairing their war damaged stadium, and consequently struggled when regular club football began once again in 1946, finishing 13th. Tom Whittaker took over as manager and won the League title in the 1947-48 season. They would then win the FA Cup in 1949-50, a 2-0 win over Liverpool. After nearly winning the Double in the 51-52 season, but failing in both competitions, Arsenal won their 7th League title the following year in what was one
of the closest title races ever, narrowly beating Preston North End only on goal average. The title would ultimately prove to be Arsenal’s last trophy for seventeen long years. Tom Whittaker would pass away in 1956, and Arsenal would try and fail with Jack Crayston, George Swindin and Billy Wright as managers, generally finishing mid-table, and having to endure Tottenham winning the double in 1961. On May 5, 1966 Highbury would see it’s lowest ever attendance be recorded with 4,554 in the stands, and having only one player in England’s 1966 World Cup winning squad, a far cry from the successful and prosperous times under Chapman and Whittaker. Wright, then the manager, was fired and the Arsenal board made the odd appointment of their club physiotherapist Bertie Mee to replace him. The appointment of Bertie Mee was so surprising that he himself requested to return to his old role if he proved unsuccessful after one year. Alongside assistant Dave Sexton, Mee promoted players from the youth team, boys who would become household names in Charlie George, John Radford, and Ray Kennedy. Alongside Frank McLintock and Peter Shorey, they reached the League Cup in 1968 and 1969, but losing each one. They managed to make it into Europe for the 1970 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup however, winning it and ending their long trophy drought. The 1970-71 campaign then came, in which Arsenal recorded their first double winning campaign where they won the FA Cup and the League title, winning the league by defeating Tottenham at White Hart Lane on the last day, and defeating Liverpool 2-1 in extra time at Wembley. (And *we* complain about six years. Try 17 and then let’s talk crisis) Sadly the double winning side was broken up shortly after this, and after finishing 16th and 17, Bertie Mee gave his resignation.
Terry Neill would be appointed manager, and his time at the helm witnessed the strong emergence of an Irish core of Liam Brady, Pat Rice, Frank Stapleton, Pat Jennings, and David O’Leary which gave Arsenal a still-strong following amongst the Irish. While Neill’s time at the club was in the midst of the Liverpool dominance, he still managed to direct the club to three FA Cup finals in 1978, 79, 80 but only winning it in 79, when Alan Sunderland won the match in injury time to record a now-famous win. The 1979-80 season saw Arsenal play a record breaking 70 matches and reaching two finals, the FA Cup loss to West Ham and losing the finals in Europe to Valencia on penalties. The summer of 1980 saw Liam Brady leave for Juventus and apart from 1982-83, Arsenal continued to make the top four, but never looked like winning anything. The lost both Cup semi-finals that year and and Terry Neill struggled to manage the club, arguing with key players as a drinking culture immersed itself at Arsenal. After losing to Third Division Walsall in the League Cup, Neill was fired in Decemeber 1983 and replaced with Don Howe, under whom Arsenal would fare no better. And when Howe heard the board had approached Terry Venables (then at Barcelona) he resigned and Steve Burtenshaw was named caretaker while the club searched for a replacement. Alex Ferguson, then at Aberdeen in Scotland, was approached, but he rejected Arsenal and six month later would find himself at Manchester United.
In May 1986 former Arsenal player, George Graham was appointed manager of Arsenal. Graham would slowly sell off older players and promote from the youth team and was able to dictate a stronger sense of discipline at the club, something the previous managers had attempted and failed at. In Graham’s debut season, Arsenal was able to with the League Cup, coming from behind in the final against Liverpool with a double by Charlie Nichols. This was in the midst of a UEFA English ban for European competitions in relation to the Heysel disaster, and so Arsenal missed out on the 87-88 UEFA Cup.
The 87-88 campaign saw Arsenal lose the League Cup final to Luton Town, but Graham was building a squad that would continue to improve with their young defense coming together under captain Tony Adams, Lee Dixon, Steve Bould and Nigel Winterburn. This, buoyed by the terrific midfield of David Rocastle, Michael Thomas and Paul Merson and goal-scoring sensation Alan Smith, in 1989 Arsenal would finally win their first League title since 1971, and would do so in stunning fashion. Arsenal led the league since Christmas, but allowed Liverpool, who were going for the Double, to overtake them by losing to Derby County and drawing at home to Wimbeldon. The final match of the season was at Anfield and Arsenal were required to win by two goals in order to win the title. With 90 minutes gone, Arsenal were up 1-0 when this happened:
And Arsenal were League Champions. Arsenal would have to wait until the 1990-91 season to find success again, and had to do so despite losing two points after a on-field brawl with Manchester United at Old Trafford, and losing Tony Adams for four months when he was sent to prison for drunk driving in December that year. However, they only lost one league match the entire year, and won the title by seven points. After signing Ian Wright from Crystal Palace in 1991 and losing David Rocastle to Leeds United the year after, Arsenal became known as ‘Boring, boring Arsenal’ depending on their stout defense and the goal-scoring prowess of Wright to win games. The FA Premier League was then created for the 1992-93 season, in which Arsenal were one of the founding members, and became the first club to win the FA Cup and League Cup double. The following year Arsenal won their second European trophy, defeating Parma 1-0 in the Cup Winner’s Cup final in Copenhagen.
Arsenal were forced to sack George Graham February 1995 when it was found he had taken an illegal payment of a player. Bruce Rioch took over at Arsenal, who guided Arsenal to the Cup Winner’s Cup Final, but lost to Real Zaragoza from a 40 yarder in the 120 minute; a howler by David Seaman. The summer of 1995 saw him Rioch sign Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp, breaking the English transfer recorded at the time. He was sacked just before the 1996 season over a dispute about the transfer funds. Arsenal then made the audacious and obscure decision to hire Frenchman Arsene Wenger from Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan to manage their club. Wenger changed the club, completely eliminating the drinking culture that was prevalent at the time, changing the diets and training methods of the players, and brought about a change in tactics. Wenger brought in unknown players such as Patrick Vieira, Nicolas Anelka, Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars in 1997 and with George Graham’s noturious defense, Wenger became the first foreign manager to win the 1997-98 League title. Arsenal won the Double that year, winning the FA Cup. Ian Wright left that summer, having broken Cliff Bastin’s goalscoring record, his tally at Arsenal ending at 185 goals. The next few years were trophy-barren at Arsenal, despite signing Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry. The rivalry with Manchester United fired up 1998-99 however as Arsenal finished 2nd in the League to United, and lost the FA Cup semi-final replay in extra time to them as well. The next season Arsenal again finished second best to Manchester United, this time by 18 points, and lost the EUFA Cup final in 0-0 game that went to penalties in Copenhagen to Galatasaray. The 2000-01 season saw Arsenal finish 2nd yet again to Manchester United, and lost in the FA Cup to Liverpool; as well as losing on the ‘away goals rule’ in the Champions league quarter-finals to eventual finalist Valencia.
The 2001-02 season became memorable as Arsenal’s furious attacking side lead by Thierry Henry won the Double for a record-tying third time. Arsenal were the only club to score in every game of the League that season, and went unbeaten away from home. They defeated Manchester United in the FA Cup, before also beating Chelsea in the finals. The 2002-03 was notable when Arsenal became the first club in over 20 years to retain the FA Cup title when they defeated Southampton in the final, but lost out on the League title to United losing their final game of the season at home to Leeds. That Last match day defeat to Leeds would become Arsenal’s last loss for over a year, and the 2003-04 season saw the rise of the ‘Invincibles’ where they won 26 and drew 12 matches, finishing 11 points clear of Chelsea in second place. Preston North End in 1888-89 is the only other team to have ever completed such a feat.
The following season Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 49 consecutive League matches, an English league football record, when they finally lost to Manchester United. They failed to win the title that year as the newly cash rich Chelsea finished 12 points ahead, but managed to win the FA Cup for their 3rd time in four years. The 2005-06 season was largely disappointing, and Arsenal barely managed to obtain fourth place and their Champions League spot when St. Totteringham’s day came on the very last match day when Sp*rs lost to West Ham and Arsenal won their last ever match at Highbury stadium over Wigan. In the Champions League however, Arsenal made it the Finals against Barcelona, but a silly red card to keeper Jens Lehmann early in the match had Arsenal desperately defend a 1-0 lead for most of the game, before two late goals by Barca took the title away. Arsenal completed the move from historic Highbury to the Emirates stadium July 2006. Highbury was limited to only 38,500 seats after standing was banned in English football, and with the club unable to expand the stadium and needing to increase revenue streams to compete with money-giant clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, a move down the road to Ashburton Grove was made. To facilitate the move in a manner that did not destroy the club financially, Arsene Wenger was forced to sell off highly paid stars and transition the club with youngsters, while still managing to be highly competitive and keep the fans into the massive 60,000+ stadium. Since the move Arsenal have stayed in the Champions League, qualifying for the competition for 14 years in a row, and have remained competitive in the Premier league, but ultimately collapsing the final months of the campaigns. December 11, 2011 saw Arsenal play at home and marked Arsenal’s 125 year in existence, and Arsenal celebrated the occasion the only way they know how; with style and class. The great-great-grandson of Fred Beardsley, the man who sourced the Arsenal original kit, assisted Vic Akers with the club’s kits and was brought onto the pitch in the pre-game ceremony. Supporters’ Stories were installed on benches outside the Armoury. A sixpence was thrown by referee Howard Webb at kick-off. Inside the players’ tunnel, celebrations of the 5-3 over Chelsea, and Henri Lansbury Sp*rs goal have been included on the walls. Arsenal had the Royal Artillery and Orchestra playing outside the stadium. The 1970s greats Bob Wilson, Charlie George, Frank McLintock, John Radford and Terry Neill were all introduced onto the Emirates pitch, followed by David O’Leary, Paul Davis, George Graham, Alan Smith, Anders Limpar and Ian Wright. Members of the Invincibles then took to the pitch, Ray Parlour, Robert Pires, Jens Lehmann, Lee Dixon, Lauren and Thierry Henry showed up. The great-grandchildren of founder David Danskin carried the matchball to begin the game. They even ensured there was a cannon alongside side the pitch.
Perhaps the best part of the weekend was the Friday prior, when Arsenal unveiled the statues of Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry outside the Stadium. So many greats could have been chosen, but it’s difficult to argue with the man who revolutionized football in the 1930s, the winning-est club captain, and the Arsenal’s record goal-scorer.
May there be more greatness to come for the beloved and storied club.

Whats the point of criticizing the referee for making a bad decision? What if the referee make a bad decision in our favor? This is a football game, you can't expect the referee to make every perfect call. Just admit it, we are awful last night.
This guy has a point, you get what you paid for.
I felt for this uncle, his in tears and anger. #truearsenalfan

Wenger should fark off as well...
A farking American + a farking Greek + a farking French = Arsenal downfall..
I'm still in Wenger's camp. But I want him to fix his own problem. Last season, when our team need to get fixed, we came out with unbeaten streak until the end of the season. Fix this team, Wenger. I believe in you.
rumuors are circulating around, that after the game sagna, gibbs, ramsey, rosicky, wilshere, cazorla and AOC has emerged with injuries and might be a doubt for the fenerbahce game.
that sounds terribly vicious for a rumour, hoping that's false

same here, bro. Knee jerk reactions from angry fans. Everybody calm down and support the Gunners.

Haha.betul la.lame kot tak menang ape2..fans pun dah mengamuk ni..plis AW, compete for the BPL.just spend the money.btw ade org kena bora bora ke?lame tak nmpk kt cni.
i see, i started out as a wenger protector and believed in his youth project. when cesc and nasri went out i started having doubts, but still believed. then rvp and song left. that was still okay, but when february came (our usual period of screwing ourselves over) it got frustrated watching arsenal play, totally clueless and backpassing all the time, so i started to want a change. i still like wenger's desire to keep playing the Arsenal Way, but when it's not working at least change something. against teams that pack defence we're always likely to look clueless. always trying to overplay and outpass a team that puts 11 players behind the ball. and when we do make crosses, it got so frustrating seeing poor crosses being put into the box, do we not train crosses at all? of course we do, we're a bpl team, but why the heck are the crosses so bad?
i didnt see this today in the first 15 minutes because aston villa were eager to attack, and left spaces for us to exploit. dont give us space, we will punish. that 15 minutes was totally beautiful, it's how arsenal should play. when villa start to play defensive, once again we look clueless and try to play fancy passes. when it works it looks wonderful, like what giroud and rosicky did today. pity ross didnt score, it was football reminiscent of the invincibles. our crosses were again woeful today, walcott was again invisible, szc was making weird decisions, our defence was left exposed when arteta doesnt play, nothing changed. and we were playing a team who escaped relegation last season. aside from signing players, one thing i'd like us to change is to play direct, esp against ultra defensive teams. get ahead then play as pretty as you like.
Wow. Have to agree with ur views bro. But I guess anyone watching enough arsenal game and love to see arsenal being successful once again would have had the same opinion. Just hope wenger signs someone good . Although I'm not convinced anyone would wana sell right now so late into te window.

that's practically almost the whole first team eleven. we're so f u c k e d
It will be #WengerOut all over the world if AFC get thrashed by Fenerbache this Wed. Arsene could jeopardize the UCL qual. Poor decision making to leave squad very thin.

now is small matter for me, but if UCL part i think all eruption in earth happen infront Wenger and Gazidis face... i dont dare to dream about that... not only we lose prestige, but we will lost too much money and be liverfool in year to come...

the fans reaction are normal. they have been given promise that new signings will come, but until today we have not sign nobody. imagine the frustration of the fans, having to pay 1 of the highest ticket price.. watching the team fighting for 4th place every season.
Finally Sell deadwood, team thin... Why no signing Ask to sign, dunno sign who. Go for the best. Go for the best, other club dun1 sell, kena hijack. Tu salah wenger pulak. Go for so so player, y no high profile signing! Tu salah wenger pulak. First 11 kena Buli by referee n injuries of opponent roughness. Salah wenger pulak why no ironman in the team. So, Shouldnt start with strong 11 n reserve it for UCL qualifying. Itu Salah wenger pulak.
If start with weaker 11, also kalah. Sure wenger salah.
Conclusion: Asal kalah, nothing is right. Asal Menang, everything okay.
u guys know that arsenal ticket is most expensive and the cheapest one is also higher than the highest of other clubs?
Arsenal is blood sucking club starring Gazidis and Wenger as the man behind. It has been 7 years, and same things repeat every year. I feel pitiful to those arsenal fans who have been buying season pass to watch horrible games.
and i dont even know which of our youngsters are eligible to play for the UCL games. i'm thinking some of the doubtful players are gonna have to soldier through
wow so fast we already in a serious injury crisis now what im sure is this following week is gonna be vital for us new players must be brought in before our next bpl game

Still too early. Let see how it goes after 5 games.
the signs are there already all over the place bro... if arsene and gazidis are in this just to make money....they should just quit football n venture into real estate instead...its ruining a rich history club.....
As a die hard arsenal fan, it hurts to see my team lose. Then again, its a wake up call.
I dont understand why we are getting rid of the deadwood and shipped out some on loan leaving the squad so damn thin. Where are the reinforcements or so called signings from the available funds. I believe signing should be made before the pre-season begins so that the new players can gel in with the existing players and structure.
Our players look so damn jaded yesterday. Credit to aston villa for closing the game down. That's sheer commitment, hunger and desire for you. Funny how arsenal will only play a defensive pressing game when it comes to big matches and as for minnows, they tend to take things slow.
I thought Flamini was training with Arsenal to build up his fitness. Even having him on the team would also be great.
My hunch is that alot of pending "deals or transfers" are hinged on Arsenal's UCL results against Fenerbache.
The team have been on the decline for a while now. Selling your best players every year and replacing them with average ones can only get you so far. We are already out of the title race I believe and probably looking at 4th at best now. I know it was one game, but it was home, to Villa.
The squad is thin and the manager seems clueless as to how to proceed.
This should have been dealt with years ago. why keep repeat the same mistake? sigh

It easier to say when you didn't know the real story.
Btw thanks for your interest in our beloved team. Appreciated.
mmmm....dunno where to start regarding last night's loss...already excited for the new season even if no new star players but seeing last night's match brought back the reality of the Arsenal squad...i just would like to say to Wenger "you reap what you sow"....i'm truly off the Arsene Wenger bandwagon and really hope this is his last season with Arsenal...hope the board do not offer him a new contract and just offer him a director of football post...even though Arsenal win the treble at the end of next season like Bayern Munich then i hope he does a "Jupp Heynckes" and retire....you can quote me on this...just hire a new manager and start a new cycle....
Are we totally f***ed up, Now every clubs knows Arsenal is desperate for players, I am very sure the gonna hook us now, since they know we had 70 mil to spend. Sad to say this, we had a poor management skill. We always create rumors , but in the end nothing turn up. Well done Wenger and the BOD. Now you know why Cesc, Van Persie, Song , Nasri left us, is it they to blame or Arsenal management? Besides no world class player would wanna join us, because we are bloody stingy club.

buy last minute...thinking can save a few million quid...ahahahahh! the player bought oso no time go through pre season to gel with his new teammates...well done wenger!
“We are trying to buy players and if we find the right players we will do it. I am not the only one working on that [at this club]. It’s not my money, it’s the money of the club and we are ready to spend it on the right players. I also believe we could have won the match with the players we had on the pitch today, but it didn’t happen.”
always wif the right players right players.... vavi, no one is better than ur current squad? wif 70million pounds to spend and u can't find the "right players"? u farking wif us or wat? go fire the whole scouting team plz...
Chill la guys. Wenger has got his faults. But I believe alot of parties have to be responsible for all these to come together. Lets wait for his actions. The club decision is not made by him alone. It could be he is just a worker that obeys the board.

Mana la u get this news man. Cuba la bawak bertendang.
As of now, I believe no one knows what really happened in all the transfer dealings. It could be alot of club is trying to bully us with high prices knowing we are desperate for some achievement this season. Or it could be the board and wenger are reluctant to spend on certain players due to their quality is not worth as much of the money paid.
But come to see the situation we are in now, they definitely have to spend. And it feels like 5 players is the minimum we have to buy to cover and add quality to certain positions.
But I won't rule with conspiracy theories that much also hehe. I'm open for conspiracy theory cos I got some in my head also lol

U know, when we had Henry & after he developed into a world-class striker, Arsenal was built around him. AW would purchase players to compliment his style, tht's why we had Ljungberg, Pires & the rest of the team at tht time. But I wonder who the team is built around now ? I mean who is our match-winner ? When we had RvP, we still have our match-winner... but now... sadly... I see no one. The team tht played yesterday was the very same team tht played last season which means we've not progressed since last season. Our stars left the team becoz they didn't see progress, but our reason then was we lacked funds. Now tht we have got funds, we still couldn't progress. Same old, same old.
bro can show us photochopped pic of arsene wenger fly kite too? hahahahahaha
bro, even if it's photoshopped, it's still exactly how the fans around the world felt now...
we can't go on like this... old ppl are sure damn stubborn... old ppl will tell u they have been using their methods for years before u are even born... we can't change old man thinking...
i really hope we dont qualify this year UCL. if we qualify UCL, we cant win anything with current squad. But it is important to BOD as it generates plenty cash for them, and fans get nothing.
That's the difference between us, hardcore but non-paying fans and those hardcore + hard-paying fans in London. Justice for them and their hard-earned money!!!
u still remember me trolling 2 seasons back?? im touched
of course la dey.... i'm fanatic football fan, i still not forget what football team supported by my primary school friends... for 2 season so kacang only lar...

Bro just saw Koscielny and Cazorla both suspended for Fenerbahce 1st leg. Carry over from last year. And if you read Arsene's press conference both Ramsey and Rosicky are huge doubts

Dear Ivan,
We write to you as Arsenal's largest and fastest-rowing supporters' group, to convey our deep concern at the current state of our team going into the new season.
In early June, around season ticket renewal time, you were widely quoted following your Q&A event where you spoke about the club's new financial firepower and ambition moving forward. Many fans saw this as the club finally about to break free from the shackles of moving stadium; new commercial deals were coming into place, we had a vast amount of cash available in the bank, profit from the Queensland Road property project was secured, the vast increase in TV revenue was about to land on our doorstep, and after treading water since moving from Highbury it seemed as if we were finally going to push on.
What has happened since then is nothing short of a disgrace.
There have been noises coming out of the club over the summer that the market was slow, that other clubs weren't doing much, and that things take time if you're after top-quality players. We feel all of these were poor excuses, designed to deflect focus away from our shortcomings. The only positive of the summer has been the release of many players who were generally considered 'dead wood' – and naturally this frees up more cash for investment in the team. But with the departure of these players, virtually no movement has come in the opposite direction and we're now left with a squad severely lacking in depth and experience. Indeed, the squad registered for the Champions League in the last week had to be padded out with kids.
As a group we have been concerned for some time that the Board running our club has lost sight of the raison d'etre - i.e. we are Arsenal Football Club; not a business purely focused on posting profits year after year.
You will have seen the results of our end-of-season survey, which came out in favour of Arsene Wenger but with 70 per cent stating that he has too much control over transfer negotiations and setting of wage levels at the club. The same survey revealed that 87% of fans feel the current board of Arsenal is out of touch with the feeling among fans and that 73% feel less valued by the club since we moved stadium.
It is our view as a group that the board of Arsenal is too relaxed about the competitiveness of our team, and that as long as a top-four place is secured, it is a case of 'job done'. This should never be the case but, despite hearing you say you're not happy every time we end a season with nothing to really cheer about, nothing changes.
So in June following your statement of intent, fans were rightly hopeful but what has happened since then? Yet again we've spent the summer dithering while others around us have strengthened, and once more we start the season playing catch-up. With five competitive matches due before the transfer window closes, there is every chance that our season could be dealt a hammer blow before we've had a chance to take stock, and this weekend's defeat at home to Aston Villa should act as a huge wake-up call.
We are now in a situation where we're faced with a carbon copy of 2011, where it took an 8-2 humiliation at Manchester United to force a 'trolley dash' on the final day of the transfer window. Of course by then it was too late. For Arsenal to be in that situation once is unacceptable; for it to happen twice in three years will be unforgivable.
It is imperative that the board of Arsenal does its job and manages the Manager – an employee of the club you are supposed to be running. What are Arsene Wenger's targets / KPIs set by the Board every year? Is the he not even answerable to the board, with free rein to do as he pleases as long as he helps the business achieve a profit? Is he having to do all the running himself when it comes to transfers or if support is there, is he taking it? Clarity is required here because something clearly isn't right at the club when it comes to the acquisition of new players.
You put all the focus on the Arsene Wenger yourself at that Q&A session in June, but to fans there is little evidence of questions being asked of him; this despite approaching the end of the transfer window with no sign of needed, established quality coming in. Does the board feel that it's been a good summer? Because we've now lost our opening game of the season, our squad is already blitzed by injury, once more today there were fans coming to blows in the stands. As a board member, does this even bother you?
Of course if we used the funds we do have available, brought in top-quality players and competed for prizes, in would come better commercial deals, you wouldn't have as much trouble trying to get corporate punters back into the stadium, and naturally the more successful we are it becomes easier to attract better players. Or is the board too short-sighted to realise this? A competitive team isn't one which scrapes the position of fourth-best team in the league on the final day of the season and gets dumped out of domestic cup competitions by lower-league opposition; you need to realise that most fans are aware of this fact. They're not duped by finishing in a position which may result in us playing in the Champions League. So what, if the cash from that competition is simply banked and never sees the light of day?
It should be noted that as long term fans of The Arsenal we've seen plenty of lean times and poor teams over the years. Silverware isn't the be-all and end-all; we follow this club out of pure love and will always do so. However, loyal matchgoing fans continue to walk away from the Emirates Stadium, unwilling to part with their hard-earned cash when they feel let down and lied to by our board. We pay the highest ticket prices in football after being sold a dream, but it's always a case of 'jam tomorrow' and many have seen through the spin.
Enough is enough.
If the board is actually intent on making Arsenal a successful force in football once again, changes have to be made. Arsene Wenger should have experienced, qualified support to help bring in top-quality players, and he needs to be managed effectively if the right business isn't being done.
Or if the board is simply intent on milking the Arsenal brand for all its worth to the detriment of the team (but to the benefit of our bank account), season-ticket prices at Emirates Stadium should be reduced accordingly. Our loyal fans should no longer have to bear the burden after doing so for many years.
Make no mistake, if there is not significant improvement in our playing squad over the next couple of weeks, the rapidly growing anger in the stands will become difficult to overturn. There hasn't been a poisonous atmosphere like this at Arsenal for over 30 years and the board has simply stood by, while things have gone from bad to worse. I am sure you appreciate, this can no longer happen.
We look forward to your response in due course.
Yours faithfully,
Where Has Our Arsenal Gone (the Black Scarf Movement)
The Black Scarf Movement issues the Gunners' chief executive with a damning open letter after perceived transfer failures saw the north Londoners beaten by Aston Villa on Saturday
dont know. but dont think he is that much of an outstanding. saw a few spain matches with him. nothing much to shout. buying him would be like getting another giroud.
btw, just finished watching arsenal motd. our play doesnt seems that bad. but defending for the 3rd goal is shocking.

maybe bcos we only have 3 defenders and all are dying to score 1 bcos we are down with 1-2.

my take from that game was that we totally underestimate the need of a holding midfielder, a DMC, a midfield enforcer. Heck, Arteta aint a true DMC, but he did do a good job at that position. look at all 3 goals we let in, bcoz someone from Villa midfield, namely Agbonlahor, broke thru with no cover from our midfield..

my take from that game was that we totally underestimate the need of a holding midfielder, a DMC, a midfield enforcer. Heck, Arteta aint a true DMC, but he did do a good job at that position. look at all 3 goals we let in, bcoz someone from Villa midfield, namely Agbonlahor, broke thru with no cover from our midfield..
spot on. look back at Agbonlahor's run for the first penalty. there's a huge space between the defence and midfield. Agbonlahor easily ran through our players without much trouble. that's where Arteta excels in our midfield. he's our new Gilberto that provide the wall between our midfield and defence. nobody in our current midfield could be his deputy.

^ Yeah same thing happen when Ramsey and Wilshere played together against Napoli. Both love going forward thus leaving space behind.
This. totally agreed with this. Both are more of a box-to-box MF rather than a makalele/deep lying midfielder. Kondogbia might be a defensive midfielder but i think he's in the viera/diaby mould not a gilberto/gustavo/javi martinez type of player which what we need to unleash ramsey/wilshere creative freedom.
a lot of fans asking AW to sign forwards.. suarez/rooney/higuain/michu and so on.. but from the game last nite, i feel the 1 we need most is defenders and midfielders.. @_@
And Wenger insisted that the opening day shock wasn't down to a lack of summer investment. 'If we don't spend the money, it is because we don't find the players,' he said. "I am not the only one to work on that, we are a team that works on that and we are ready to buy the players if we find the players good enough for us. 'My job is to make the fans happy, but we haven't lost a game because of that (not spending). 'We take our work seriously and we analyse every player in the world and spend 24 hours a day doing that. 'We are ready to spend, but until we buy players we have to win football games and it is not an excuse not to win the game.'
We will sign players but at a higher price because selling clubs know that we are desperate and they will take this chance to mark-up the price. I sense Fellaini is joining.
Fans were asked on Arsenal.com through a poll, who was their man of the match yesterday? (The online poll is undertaken after every game)
Lukas Podolski who only came in a few seconds before the ref blew the final whistle was leading with 32% of the votes.
Arsenal.com have removed the online poll from their website due to obvious reasons. Basically what the fans were trynna point out is that the whole starting XI was shit. Was a bit funny though.
WE will buy... however I have a feeling we are going to get into emergency mode and buy mediocre players again (quantity over quality wise) in the final transfer windows.
I think AW and the board had realized they made mistake by going late into the transfer window, they think they can scrap it through until Sept. That's why u saw AW had toned down and apologized after lose to Aston Villa

Normally, u learn from ur mistakes. But AFC board and AW havent learn theirs and again making the mistake of going it very late into the transfer window to get new players. Maybe the panic buying will 4-5 players, but maybe 1-2 will make good impact on the team..
C'mon AW, get a DC and DMC. Lets raid Malaga for Ignacio Camacho ke

learnt from mistake? AW and BOD did learn. They know if they dont invest, and finish 4th place will be enough for the fans.
at the end of the day,
4th place = qualify for UCL play off = fans happy (fooled) = $$ in bank acc = owner happy
Empty the stadium.that is how to teach them..if still no star players coming in, we can expect to see cazorla & koscielny leave.
That probable situation will scare the shyt out of any fans. Heck, I'll even mortgage my house if it comes to that! I can't imagine the Gooners fans feel right now over at North London. Really what a bad week for us.
b4 all that happen, we might see another disaster this midweek, few days from now, in UCL Qualification against Fenerbahce. I dont see how we can haddle them at their HOMEGROUND with no proper defenders available, not to mentioned we lost middle stability that carried b4 by Arteta. With Verm n Monreal already in long injury list, now added by Sagna ( i believe that he suffered serious neck/back injury for that crash) and Gibbs (Wenger mentioned its deep cut, unlikely he gonna be ready for Fulham, definitely not for Fenerbahce match). Now left only with 3 defenders, Kos, Per n Jenks. Without Miguel, we have very2 young, inexperienced backup CB. We got no proper experienced LB at moment, even the makeshift is injured. Ramsey cant play CB or LB at the moment as he is needed in DM role deputize Arteta absent. Hardly i cant see Frimpong ready for that role at this UCL level. But even so, i dont see Ramsey had done DM role better while Arteta was absent. Most games where he perform were those which he combined with Arteta. In short, Arteta is the key here as he's the one that provide stability in the team. I saw we suffering from lack creativity in midfield as Jack n Rosicky cant provided those as much as Arteta+Cazorla did. And now with Cazorla not being fit n ready, i see we have big problem. Its also make me wonder why, after some much good run on Zalelem during pre season, he hasnt been included in the bench. Its Gnabry ahead of him but i dont think Gnabry inclusion is justify ahead of Zalelem bcoz we already have Podolski as CF or LW cover on d bench.
Now i wonder what will happen if we r kicked out of UCL at this stage.
Bracewell-Smith reveals 'deep regret' over selling Arsenal shares to Kroenke as she calls for Dein to return and Usmanov to join Gunners board
QUOTE
Last December she claimed Kroenke had no passion for the club and following yesterday’s shock opening-day 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa she has reiterated her dissatisfaction with Kroenke on Twitter tonight.
Kroenke had pledged to bring silverware back to the Emirates Stadium after his arrival but the Gunners' wait for a title has stretched to eight years amid increased criticism over their spending in the transfer market.
'What a shame the board recommended a Kroenke takeover and paid Rothchilds 3m fee,' Bracewell-Smith wrote.
'And how deeply I regret selling to Kroenke. #AFC'
Bracewell-Smith also called on former vice-president David Dein to return and for Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who has a significant stake, to be given a seat on the board.
'Bring David Dein and give Usmanov representation on the board if we are to have success going forward. #AFC,' she added.
Bracewell-Smith was equally as forthright in her comments in December - shortly after the Gunners were dumped out of the League Cup by League Two Bradford - claiming Kroenke did not have the best interests of the club at heart.
'If making money was the motivating factor, surely there are better ways,' she wrote at the time. 'Football is a business of passion and SK has no passion for AFC. (Kroenke) shows he cares very little. Why he wanted to be part of AFC I do not know.'

Can't find any positive thing in this thread anymore. I'm out of here (for a while).
buy suarez the non handshaking - biter - pay 50mill and then step down AW. go wit whatever pride left. at worst like juventus - win Div 1 for some silverware if really in need of one
I bet AW didnt expect such a shitstorm from the fans by losing the very first match of the season. AW must remember that fans stuck by him all thru the trophyless years, but enough is enough..
At this rate getting one world class player for 50 mil isn't gonna cut it.. we need several players to cover fatigue and injuries throughout the season.
We may have to adjust our expectation in terms of player quality for quantity.

Yeah, now we are lack of players. We need a DM, CB, GK and Striker. I dont even think 70 mil is enough to buy all the qualities we need. We already miss out fellani which cost 23m, Higuan 25 Mil and Cesar 3mil? Now every club knows we are in desperate for players, i am very sure it will cost us even higher to buy any class player now.

Indeed, for the past 8 years we are already been positive with AW and his philosophy. But every year we turn out to be weaker and weaker and besides I will never forgive AW and the BOD for letting Van Persie to Man U.
anyway, Gibbs brother already confirmed that Kieran will be playing on midweek. Koscielny's suspension wasn't brought forward from last season so he'll be available for Fenerbahce game.

Do you really think Everton will let Fellaini at 23m, Higuain as we know RM in the end fucuk us, raised the price to make other club bid, cesar 3 million? we do you get the price, from DailyMail?

1. Still got 2 weeks more to go. 2. The match against Villa was a combination of poor display (yes, we played badly, but doesn't mean the squad is not good)+unfortunate event (Injury+bad referee decisions). 3. We haven't kick the ball yet.

Good things come to those who wait.
Whatever it is, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that.
In other news, Ramsey & Gibbs should be fit for Fener game. Kosc & Santi also available (not banned).

the thing is, we all thought AW already learned from past when he brought Poldi, Giroud and Santi early before the season started. words from Ivan also not helped since he said we have huge war chest in June. i think that's what make most of the fans frustrated as early as the first match. yes, good things come to those who wait but history already showed us how pathetic our club could be when doing the last minute shopping thingy.
for now, I am positive that new players will be brought in but how good they are is still remain unknown. for every Arteta and Monreal, there's Santos and Park.

Earlier that time Fellani release clause was 23mil? & Arsenal bid for Higuan 20mil and RM wanted 25 mil? if not mistaken Cesar I saw it from previous post.
What happened to wilshire during his long injury? He looks bit muscular and matured but..
He started to remind me of rooney..and i dont like it .. He always get mad and like he wanted to start a fight.. By doing that he get yellow card easily -.-
I am always positive with the club and the manager, track back my posts here, i never really condemned Arsenal. Went to the stadium buying RM100 something ticket to watch the pre-season tour. Checking on the club news everyday on the net. Subscribing official Arsenal Magazine. Get myself on the membership club. Bought my baby tonnes of Arsenal shirts and stuff. And so on..that shows my affection towards the club..i must say that this season is the most depressing season i have ever experience since supporting the team from 1996. Even much more depressing than the record loss at Old Trafford. As a fan, we did so much for the club that we love, show endless support through ups and downs, and stuffs. It was heartbreaking to see the team were beaten like that last Saturday. Yes the referee is a total bollocks but It was Araenal who really not up to it. If a fan can do so much for the club, why cant the club do so for the fans? Why so reluctant to spend some cash that we do have on some quality players? It is so hard to sign one? Yes it was highlighted all the way from June, but nothing happened. Not just another soon-to-be a deadwoos sort of player. What makes it worse, Arsenal knows the squad is not strong enough, not competitive enough and doesnt have that fearful images like before. Its not that we are not capable of boosting our squad, we have a big stadium, state of the art training centre, big war chest, extensive scouting network and etc etc. With all of this in our disposal, we still fail to attract star players? No man is bigger than the club, things has to be done to make things right, which is putting the club on thw right track, which is being a competitive football club, once more. Be is by resignation of the current manager, be it a change of structure in the boardroom, whatever need to be done, needs to be done before the once glorified club, sinking without a trace, with only had itself to blamed at.

Arsenal agony Aston Villa and Chelsea have won three times at the Emirates Stadium - the joint most of any visitors in the Premier League The last time Arsenal lost on the opening day of the season was 2000-01 - they finished second that season behind Manchester United The average win % of previous Premier League champions on the opening weekend is 57%. This compares with a 67% win ratio across a season Arsenal now have 64 red cards under Arsene Wenger - the joint-most in the Premier League in that period (level with Blackburn Rovers) Only Patrick Vieria (eight) and Martin Keown (six) have been sent off more times than Laurent Koscielny
anyway, Gibbs brother already confirmed that Kieran will be playing on midweek. Koscielny's suspension wasn't brought forward from last season so he'll be available for Fenerbahce game.

wrong... it is the BOD who should speak up and force AW to buy, not the other way round...
stamp a season target on his head... a trophy AT LEAST by end of the season or face AXE... can the BOD do this? THEY CAN'T!
of coz BOD doesnt want wenger out. Tell me who can replace AW (who can earn so much of money for them)?
That bcoz BOD r in confort zone. They have "yes man" in AW and definitely AW is in the same boat with them in many aspect n decision. So they can sit happily n let d mgr take the blame. Had it was Mour were Arsenal mgr, they will have dogfight everyday. Anyway, who they think they could find AW replacement? They had barely handle players transfer deal this season. Arsenal's fame r long ago scratched. Even Luis Gustavo had rather pick non-UCL team than go to us.

Moyes need a midfielder, and he should know if there are such clause in Fellaini, but why he dont bid for Fellaini for 23million? 23million quite cheap for establish player like Fellaini if it is true about the clause. Regarding Higuain, RM want the money Napoli paid them. Do you really think Higuain valuation close to 35mil? For 20mil, yes we should buy him. 35mil better we buy Lars Bender or Gundogan, for the striker, I want to see Kevin Gameiro...and Cesar, based on his performance during CC, I think he worth more and QPR want more money to cover the loss when they relegate. I hope Wenger will sign 2-3 quality players to bring our beloved club further.
It has been confirmed from a reliable source that Wenger is a big time FOOTBALL GAMBLER. Are you guys surprised with what he and Gazidis have been doing with the team for years now? He has been gambling millions each year with the team. The bet on ground now according to the source is not to buy any player but use this set of boys to achieve top 4 spot. I hope it backfires this time on his face. He should be investigated for match fixing too.

First it was Ramsey and then there was Walcott and worse of them all, Wilshere who had a huge 1 year chunk of his career gone, now Oxlade Chamberlain has his ligament torn. I'm not surprised the next time, a youngster has a long term injury. *hints at Gnabry and Zelalem*

And why the hell our players always injured lol. Dafuq.
only delusional fans believe AW gonna splash the cash and buy. only 2 weeks left and all available top class players are sold. good luck getting top 10 gunners. 1-3 lost to Villa tho a bit surprising, but yea, u guys deserved it. and not so bright UCL future ahead.
I mean which world class player would wanna join us now? 1) many injured players 2) always overused players 3) pay you peanuts and high expectation The club is like a total mess with unorganized management, even if i am messi/ ronaldo i will think twice before joining Arsenal.

think twice? wow, u are confident. i think they will just straight say NO.
and stop dreaming bout world class. u can even get a half decent player now. so much for signing higuian, fellani, cesar, suarez, rooney.
[not gonna put a laughing smily here coz i know it must be painful to u all to watch ur team declining]
we have a terrible chance of signing class players now. if i'm to be honest, i expect a few signings of mertesacker/arteta quality, and a few other signings that will turn out into more andre santos and pcy.
a dream signing would be something like GK - Begovic DEF - Sakho MID - Kondogbia FW - Ljaljic
better we look weak on early season than after january(typical arsenal)..so arsene need to spend now and maybe add more on january..c'mon arsene tell us you want win something..
Cesc, Nasri, RVP left and have not been injured since...im doubting what kinda crazy training regime do we have actually. hahahahaha
yerp.. last time we always said to manu fan..u get rvp 1 season, and then next season he'll be in treatment room. until this season he still kick ass! dafuqq!

Good observation. Wondering if all the trips to Far East is having a huge toll on the fitness level. Why can't we just do a real pre-season in Austria and forgot about all the commercial benefits.

cabaye is decent. i think he'll add something to the team. he's a good FK taker too. santi and poldi can take FKs but i think cabaye's better. is he defensively apt to provide cover for arteta tho? i think he's like a deep lying playmaker kind of CM right?
Im not sure where his exact position but from what i watched i think his role is similiar to ramsey.roaming along the midfield line.I might be wrong though.we really need a true DM right now
read a bit more on cabaye, seems he's able to play a lot of positions in central midfield. in that case i think he would be a great signing. he can cover for arteta when he's out, and provide competition for wilshere/ramsey/rosicky. and let's face it, our four CMs are injury prone. cabaye would be a great signing
... although iinm cabaye has suffered from injury last season too
i dont think he adds much to the team, he's probably a tad bit quicker that giroud which is great tho. i personally think if we're gonna add a forward, add someone different than giroud. williams would be good given the problem we have at CB atm.
i still think a CM would be the most vital signing to make. cabaye seems a good deal. rumour is newcastle rejected a 10mil bid. which is criminally low.
next CM rumoured: juve's pogba for 20mil. i have no idea who he is.

You can't just ignore the commercial benefits to the club. It's one of most important source of income alongside Matchday income (tickets) and TV money (broadcasting).
If you compared our commercials income with the likes of Barca, Madrid and MU, you'll know why Arsenal really focus on this field now. The potential of it in the Asia and Africa are huge and still very much to explore.
i think gazidis the goon shot himself on the foot when he claimed that arsenal has the financial muscle to spend this summer. if you brag that you have the money to spend on buying players but offer low prices of course la other clubs will want more. never seen a worse chief executive for a company than gazidis the goon. he should just stepped down before he and his family get death threats from the ultra fans.
^ you should be immune to all the rumors on twitter by know bro, haha. i didnt believe for one second the gustavo transfer was gonna happen
Well actually the Gustavo to Arsenal story was real, the interest was real, the bid was real. Only the player himself that decided to choose Wolfburg instead of Arsenal, mainly because of wages (he earns reportedly 114k pw) and assurance of starting (playing time).
To think that we won't pay Fellaini more than 100k pw, I think that was the real reason we missed out Gustavo.
And to be honest, I don't understand either with this current Arsenal's wages structure. We are (allegedly) willing to offer 250k for ******, but at the same time won't give 100k for Fellaini.

AW wont give a s#*t to any pressure that want him sign big names in this last 2weeks if he already set up his mind not to! His ego r big..he wont do it unless the position hit with both 1st n 2nd choice under longterm injury. -No LB as Gibbs not hit by longterm injury. Re: He'll tell u all that its a problem to keep 2 experienced LB not playing when all 3 fit. -No CB bcoz Sagna could cover Kos n Per while Verm nursing his injury n thats enuf. -No GK as Sczecny n Fabianski is good enuf so young GK as 3rd is reasonable n no need Cesar. He'll pointed out that no other club would keep 3 experienced GK. -No DM bcoz Artate gonna back n he still have Frimpong n Diaby. Imagine when they all fit. -No CF/Striker as Giroud have Walcott n Podolski as cover. -No CM as he will pointed out at Zelalem n Gnabry making such good progress. -No LW as Podolski, Cazorla n Ox can play there. -No RW as Ox, Cazorla n Rosicky can play there. -No need new player especially big names or experienced one bcoz he gonna show to the world that he could still make to CL spot next season.
i cant see him not signing anyone. it would take some serious scamming and conning to not sign anyone when the team is ravaged by this kind of injury crisis, with the squad thin enough to begin with, and so many matches to play in the next 2 weeks.
i think gazidis the goon shot himself on the foot when he claimed that arsenal has the financial muscle to spend this summer. if you brag that you have the money to spend on buying players but offer low prices of course la other clubs will want more. never seen a worse chief executive for a company than gazidis the goon. he should just stepped down before he and his family get death threats from the ultra fans.
Agreed. Not just him but the whole BOD should. i would rather let ot lead by russian mafia who want to run it like a sport club, spend to fight for trophies than by money making brats. #ComeOnRedAndWhiteHoldings
And to be honest, I don't understand either with this current Arsenal's wages structure. We are (allegedly) willing to offer 250k for ******, but at the same time won't give 100k for Fellaini.
Ya I also noticed this. Wana buy Suarez for 40 mill but can't pay extra mil for higuain. Can't pay extra 6 mil for Williams . Can't pay extra for Fellaini.

Macam fabricated/illusion news for fans pun Ada
it's all part of The Farking Trios tricks.....
already posted this shit in the previous thread...
u know wat, the way this Farking Trio are managing the club feels like our gomen...
full of lies, tricks, and of course.... the black magic~
pooffff~ all money goes into the bank... big fat bonus this year yo~
^^^Actually Ivan Gazidis is not so bad as a CEO. Our new improved commercial deals (eg: Emirates & Puma) is mainly because of him and his team. The real problem comes from our owner, Stan 'silent' Kroenke. I think Usmanov would never get a position in the BODs as long as Stan is here as Stan can easily block any move made by Usmanov.
And the main reason Ivan publicly said we have 70m to spend is just to put a pressure to Wenger to spend. If nothing's changes and Wenger doesn't spend (he will), there will be no excuses for him other that stepping down as our manager (he's in his last year of contract anyway)
"Ambitious football clubs invest the money they receive from their fans, and sometimes their owners, to make themselves stronger. Arsenal supporters pay some of the highest ticket prices in world football, providing the club with considerable financial resources, but the ambition and ability to use them appear to be missing. The fact that there is money available for squad-strengthening is not disputed. The AST's independent analysis suggests that the amount is somewhere between £70m-£100m.
Something bout AW's authorities within d club..
QUOTE
"There remain important questions about the way player identification, recruitment and remuneration processes are managed at Arsenal. Earlier this summer we presented detailed reports to the club on how it can improve its Boardroom to strengthen our football infrastructure. The failings we highlighted in Arsene Wenger holding far too much power have only been amplified in recent weeks. These must be addressed as a matter of urgency.
and something bout D Silent One to shout bout..
QUOTE
"Stan Kroenke does not attend many Arsenal matches nor seem to have the time to devote to the affairs of Arsenal. But it is clear to all that football personnel he is ultimately responsible for are failing. The AST calls on him to appoint an independent expert to conduct a review of all football functions at Arsenal. Clearly the interaction between our scouting, negotiating and player purchasing processes are failing and need urgent improvement".
When Arsenal winning the next game..the fans will happy and start talk good about AW!!! Totally forgot what had happened now...
No, not me. I am a manager myself (in FIFA lah), but I always have backup for 1st eleven players. I can even use striker as midfield, DM as CB...even Ignasi Miquel is still with me in 2026!
Agreed. Not just him but the whole BOD should. i would rather let ot lead by russian mafia who want to run it like a sport club, spend to fight for trophies than by money making brats. #ComeOnRedAndWhiteHoldings
Just because Usmanov was a russian and was linked to russian mafia, everyone thinks that the american Stan will be a better choice. Hah, see what happen now
Before the season begin why tell us that there is money to spend and are going to spend big to bring in star players. Why give us false hope?
They should from beginning said "sorry we still don't have enough money to spend after paying dividends, directors fees, manager & chairman fees, players salaries, etc. Please bear with us as we will still try to find players who will not mind our cheapskate salary structure and at the same time they will get the chance to play in CL. Arsenal will try its best to make a star out of these players and hopefully made a good profit when we sell them."

Its not arsene's fault if the club fails to sign players.
They have other departments to look into such matters like the director of football and scouts.
If these fellas cant find anybody that arsene wants....what can he do right?
Yes. We have D**k Law for that job.
He's the one responsible in player's contracts and negotiations. But he's not a Director of Football (I don't think Arsenal have any), as Wenger will always has the final said about who the players we want to bring in.
Actually out of all the rumor, I believe higuain is genuine case. That y AW confident the signing should b done deal. Mana tau Napoli hijack.
Higuain was pretty much a done deal, all has been agreed, only needed some paperwork to be signed. The fee was around 23m, but Napoli came with 35m offer, right after they sold Cavani. And the rest is history.
like really they think Liverpool will sell their prized asset??
That's because Arsenal believe there's some clause in Suarez's contract that can force his move out of Liverpool. The 40m+1 bid was submitted for a reason.

lol...yeah...anyway, im confused as well about release clauses. shouldn't it means the player is allowed to leave if its met?
i think if we include the possibility of season long loans tho, we can buy good enough players with the 70mil. fellaini 30mil, bego 20mil, williams 20mil, and season long loan for good players in great teams that arent getting playtime like alexis sanchez, ba or the likes.

Ba! another brilliant idea.
I mean really...arsenal really haven't consider these?

If it's a release clause, yes, club have to sell once the clause met. But the clause in Suarez's contract is a complicated one.
The 40m+1 clause is just to make sure Liverpool to let Suarez know that a bid has been made. It also allowing Suarez and his agent to have a talk with that club. But it didn't force Liverpool into selling or whatsoever.
And there is another clause that indicates that if there is Champions League's club bid for him for a certain amount (I think ~45m), Liverpool have to sell him. (Some said it just a verbal agreement) And considering Arsenal is not technically in the Champions League yet, that clause is not valid for us.
Disclaimer: This is not 100% correct tho.

Thanks for the clarification man. I didn't know that.
Anyway, what are the chances of Arsenal being desperate enough to throw the entire 70m for Rooney? lol.
MU will sell at that price surely.

Not all managers are like wenger, so kind as to sell the best players to the rival.
Even on loan, remember Sahin last season.
Mourinho rather loan Sahin to liverpool than to us.
And you want Ba, ............. hahahaha, JM rather Ba rot on the bench then to loan him to us.
yeah, i was trying to include more players in that description haha. in my head, alexis sanchez fits that description better than ba. guy has pedro and neymar in the team
^Yeah, at least his abysmal performance has been recognized. But its a shame as we won't gain anything from it, not even entitled to appeal for the Kosc's red card.
Do you think there is a possibility for Wenger to get sacked right now?
Who is going to sack him? The Board of Directors? They're even worse....in fact, the club could certainly, most definitely, will surely be well off without them. The prospect of a new manager sounds nice, but not at this point in time where we need dire fix for the team. And for that, we need the manager to know who is best to include to the current team, who will be available to ply for the next match, etc.
^^ Yea I share the same opinion. But most response from fans I read on blogs and news site is open to that idea.
I think there are players that Wenger already planned to buy but most of them waiting whether we manage to qualify for UCL. Now that suddenly everything bad happened as early as the first game he have to switch to his alternate plan which we currently see now. My opinion of course.

That idea probably have crossed every Gunners fans mind, myself included.
Newcastle United have rejected a bid from Arsenal in the region of £10 million for France international Yohan Cabaye, a source close to the Magpies has informed ESPN FC. Cabaye, a £4.3 million signing from Lille in 2011, excelled during his debut campaign in England but struggled with injury last season. Nonetheless, he has been linked with a host of top clubs this summer. The 27-year-old said last month he would be keen to join Manchester United if an offer materialised, while Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc, though playing down talk of an imminent move, has confirmed his admiration for the midfielder. Tottenham and Monaco have also been credited with an interest.
However, it appears Arsenal are the first club to register an official bid, but ESPN FC has been told Newcastle consider their offer to be “derisory”.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said last week that the club had every intention of retaining the player.
“He is certainly not too good for us,” he said in the Daily Star. "Cabaye’s in a great place right now. You want to keep hold of your best players and he is one of the best in the world, in my opinion. He is a fantastic asset for us, has conducted himself in a very professional manner, despite all the speculation, and I admire him for that.”
Despite his reluctance to sell, Pardew accepts that -- having accepted a £35 million bid from Liverpool for Andy Carroll on the final day of the January window in 2011 -- there is the possibility of a sale.
“You are talking to a manager who has the history of Andy Carroll behind him, so you can never say never,” he said. “We are vulnerable to bigger clubs if they are really decisive and make a bid that knocks us off our feet. But that is not my decision. As the manager, of course, I want him to stay and have a fantastic season here, as our fans do.”
bezanya boss kita tak "bujang". dia dah kahwin dan bergaji ala-ala CEO. dan tengok pada bolded parts pulak. boleh nak makan kan? bagi kenyang perut kan? tapi tak la sedap kan? macam mana kalau boss kita ni tunggu di section makanan Carrefour Midvalley pukul 10 malam, beli makanan, boleh kenyang perut tapi tak sedap dan boleh buat sakit perut? faham kan maksud aku?
Faham bro. Aku bukan nk defend le Boss, cuma mmg camtu la perangai dia setiap kali transfer window so sepatutnya tak terkejut pon dengan apa jadi kali ni. Kita ja yg setiap kali transfer window terpedaya dengan harapan2 palsu dari janji manis le Boss dan konco2nya (Ivan, d*** and siapa2 lg la)
For what it's worth I think we can match all club on transfer fees, bar the sugar daddy clubs of course. It's the wages that I believe we're struggling with to conclude any deal. Not for the lack of money though, must be sonething to do with le Boss evaluation of what the player is worth
I mean why are the fans so worry about paying the players wages? Hey Come on, we are one of the biggest club in europe, why others club could play their player and why we cant? This is a football club not a business hub, why do we need to store 100 over mil in the bank where we see this club starting to fall apart.

They shouldn't use the wage structure as an excuse anymore. Not when they just released 17 dead wood. That alone could sponsor Rooney's salary and more.
people say this is the best year for arsene wenger to win the PL, as all the other big three clubs had managerial changes. one game in the league, and the complete opposite happens. chelsea with a convincing win, man utd again getting the goods from rvp, and city thrashing teams and starting to look like contenders again. such is football.
i dont know what's up with fellaini, i know moyes wants him in man utd but isnt it weird that he didnt activate the release clause to bring him there? he's their ex manager of course he knows what's up in fellaini's contract. but instead of bidding for his clause, he makes a double bid for fellaini and baines which got rejected. wth?
When it comes to arsenal, it is always disrespectful la, this la that la.wtf?
Actually he is blaming that our bid has unsettled cabaye. So he couldn't field him vs man city. And that has costed them the game. All he wants is for arsenal to bid after the game . I find this fair enough la for courtesy purposes.
This news somehow makes me feel cabaye wants to John us. Since its so unsettling till he can't play the game.

But he did say that if Cabai did play also wont change the result..come on Cabai!!! Come and join us!
honestly I'm not convinced whether Cabaye can make it into our team. I usually saw him play behind Cisse/Ba last season which is the same place as Rosicky/Jack/Santi. I don't think he tackle much as well like Arteta/Jack/Aaron.

^ plus he's also another injury prone french. we have got to stop it with injury prone players. i'm beginning to be more convinced with fellaini. the guy's a physical monster and can play multiple positions. the only thing about fella is i dont think he's technically apt to play the passing game, which is where cabaye excels. but for 30mil i know which one of the two i prefer

ppl say this best year for arsene to win PL, i believe it is more like it is the year arsene wont get top4, or get relegated.
the thing is i really dont think fellaini will move. if moyes or wenger really wanted him, they couldve activated the release clause weeks ago but they didnt. so now, thinking again, for 30mil we should bid for pogba/kondogbia
It's seems like the media who all the bid that arsenal did. Even they dunno, the manager will Come out n say "ya. AW Come for our player and insult us with low offer, bla bla bla". Then other clubs come in with higher price, and deal!
Conclusion, we will end up with players that not in the media or rumor.

yes for Pogba. he's the best candidate to replace Arteta.
whatever it is, i have a very bad feeling that AW is most likely going to sign youngsters again cause according to the Board, it is much more profitable. Sign someone cheap, train and and then sell them when they are good enough.
we no longer sign players to win trophies, we signed enough players to stay within the top 4 just so that we can give these youngsters a feel of playing in Champions League. a form of encouragement to prove that training in Arsenal is better than other clubs.
Arsenal should just evolved from a football club to a full fledge training school. How can there be no players that suited Arsenal's "way of playing" when clubs from all around the world are signing players.
dayum.

The thing they said about Fellaini 23.5 million release clause that ends on 31 July is legit? if yes,why on earth we didnt go for that?
Yes, the release clause is exist. I think clubs didn't want to match the clause is because they think they can get Fellaini at a lower price, eg ~20m. But 23.5m for him is worth the money, tbf.

Relax. If we can get all the players that we want, we could even challenge for title.

the funny thing is, 30m is around the price barca paid to get cesc from us
mana ada flop. Fergie tipped him to be the future of MU midfield but Pogba was impatient and forced a move to Juve. Probably he saw that Pirlo gonna die soon while MU midfielders are all still young, therefore hard for him to breakthrough. While after Pirlo gone he confirm 1st choice midfielder already
oh forgot to mention, Zidane also influenced him to go to Italy. if legend tells you to do so then just follow liao

To me its doesnt matter if the signing AW make is unknown players if those unknown r well experienced players with currently in good form from club that play in another country's top league. Just dont let this squad so thin with only young, inxperienced youngsters as d next backup.. Youngster might be backup to play for other cup competition but not for EPL n UCL competition.
I think the problem is not about losing villa game but is the squad that is too thin to compete for the champion.
The fans want a squad that can compete, even at the end arsenal still at no. 4 at least is a fight.
The current squad is like, if arsenal still able to be at no. 4, the fan should celebrate.
Yup, way too thin. Our next PL game will be played with only one proven CB (Per). Assuming Sagna didn't hurt himself too badly from that fall, he might be able to fill in at CB.
That leaves us with one RB (Jenks) and no LB. Ramsey can no longer cover full back position as he will most likely be playing in Arteta's position (a position which I've highlighted previously is crucial to reinforce in the summer). Even so, there are doubts to his performance in this position.
On the wings, AOC is out long-term, leaving Theo, Podolski and Santi (although I think Santi is best when playing in the middle).
We're still OK in CAM for now, with Wilshere, Rosicky and Santi, but the first 2 have shown flashes of being injury prone in the past, and neither can play every single game in a season.
Oh and better pray Giroud doesn't crock himself. The only real cover there is NB52.
I would also love to see more of Podolski in the centre, in a Lampard or Rooney position. A trio of Santi-Podolski-Giroud in the centre would be interesting as all can provide very different styles of play.
IMO, we urgently need to move for a CB (Williams?), a gut-busting DM (Afro?), a winger who can cross and a very different styled striker at the very least. An experienced, composed GK will be a great addition too, but I'll rate the need for a DM to be higher.
But am I confident we'll be able to get 4-5 players in the coming 2 weeks when we've dawdled for the most parts of summer? Probably not so.
oh btw adam ljajic is available, he's awesome for fiorentina, and is still available in the market. yeah he flopped at man utd last time, but he's improved lots since
with a club like southampton willing to spend on players like wanyama and osvaldo, its weird seeing how arsenal haven't spent a penny on any players. where'd you get this stat? very informational. pity AOC la. 6 months out is a long time. must be damn heartbreaking for such a young talent like him.

there are still some decent players available in the market to improve the squad depth. we need quite a few of those, and just 1 marquee signing. then the whole summer ordeal is not that bad after all
looking at how things are now, i dont think we'll get any marquee signing this summer..most probably we'll just get a few decent players because now we lack depth
inb4 good things come to those who wait

If i remember , before the seasons end last season , u are the one who frustrated with arsenal and wenger but now u seems so calm..wtf?
Wenger is not good on big signing maybe thats why he afraid to spend big.. Like jose antonio reyes, arshavin, francis jeffers..
Haha I never thought someone would even remember that!
Things changed. I read so much things about Arsenal during the pre-season, and it completely changed my mind. Wenger's contributions in our club's success are very big and much more than what people have realize. That man deserve much much more credits that what he already get. And no, I'm not going into that. Don't ask me what I read. The information is free, just search for it.
I'm not asking you guys to believe or to join my optimism, but one day you'll know why. Time will tell.
Oh one more thing. Wenger used to be a big spender before. But he needed/had to change his approach because of the Emirates Stadium project.

^I still think that Cabaye/Michu/Williams bid is nothing more than just a smokescreen/media talk/PR as we never go public in our bids before. (apart from Suarez, because of Liverpool's antics)
I might be wrong tho.
But there would be no panic buying this summer. I'm sure of that.

i dont watch him often, but he sort of reminds me a bit of a younger arteta, when he was a more box to box player? gooners think he was the reason why newcastle were challenging for europe spots a few season back
But he's midget la.. at the moment all 1st team midfielder in Arsenal team is way too short compared to others.. how can we cope when our player all so cute.. like schoolboy.. sigh..
i dont really care if people call this panic buying, what we need are squad players to bolster our playing rooster, and one world class forward..
micah richards? a cb who can play at right back... just what we need!
cabaye? a box to box midfielder with an eye for a pass, not exactly what we need, but I won't complain if we got him
adam ljajic.... there's no rumour about this one for sure, but how I hope arsenal get hold of him... he shoudl be available around 10-15m. doing a decent job at fiorentina, and is not signing a new contract
fellaini .... bid 30m and he's ours. yellow card magnet but will add threat to our setpiece as well as defending one

Pity AW. That's y we can't buy. Others just come n make the transfer market crazy!
Lol all the rumors flying around again. I believe if this wedneday we beat fernabache , nobody will complain already. Haha Arsenal Style to silences the fans just need to win 1 game and everything will be okay. No need to buy player. xD
If we won la. Most of the fans want the club to lose the game u know?haha
Haha yeah! i really hope we lose big on this wednesday. Then AW and his BOD can really wake up, saturday match was just a spark only. I dont mind giving up CL but we still have FA Cup, Carling cup, and EPL that we really can win this year.
the goonersphere seems to be preferring a move for Porto's Jackson Martinez. unknown enough to be an ideal wenger candidate imo. again, know nothing of him, so he might be a michu or a kezman
