Hi H2D, there have 3 bike shop around Sri Petaling, Pedal Sport, Green Bike and Express Pro. Anybody have experience with through shops? I just want to have some idea which shop is more honest?
I read through some comment here, it more recommend Dahon or Tern. Both entry level should be slight more than 1k, right?

Java fit should be out of budget. In that case, I shall survey outside that area? Any recommendation? I saw Robyn want to sell off his bike at bbs.

Sometimes we have many other commitments and cannot prioritize our funds just for a bike. Like myself when I started, I can't spend my money just on a bike and sacrifice other needs. I do know however I like to get a good bike. At least a branded and reliable brand. Dahon was the brand I choose and I can only afford the entry level which was the Eco C7. I managed to get it for RM1080 then and the Dahon Vybe is also priced similar. Even the Dahon Boardwalk 8 speed can be acquired for the same price. My wish list was off course the Vector but the price at over 6K was prohibitive.

What we can do is however, progress slowly. I started to buy a set of shifters first, either 8 sp or 9 sp. They come in a set so I kept the left shifter for the meantime. I ordered a set of wheelset to accomodate a 9 speed cassette the next month. Then it becomes a 9 speeder. Then the brake sets and so on and so on. After 6 months or so, adding a little each month, it became this. A 27 speed , sealed bearing hubs and a lighter Weinmann DA16 wheelsets, LX shifters and RD, 2300 FD and Sora octal link cranks. In the end I still have a bike which I am happy with! Easier on the pocket too.

Hi etigge, you are right. Actually I want to get a reliable bike which I will keep fold and unfold it when I bring in and out, especially take inside the lift. I read through this forum here and I think should start with entry level of Dahon. Would you might to share where can get the Dahon folding bike for that kind of price as you mention above? It could be very helpful for me. Tq.

You have 2 choices for entry level bikes of good repute, namely Terns and Dahons. Off course there are other good brands but I am talking about affordability. For Tern, you can get the Link C7 which is about RM1200 and for Dahons there's Dahon Vbye which is the same frame as my previous pix, The Dr.Hon Boardwalk 8 speed where both are similarly priced. My wife rides the Boardwalk now and I can dare say the ride on the Boardwalk is better than the Eco or the Vybe except that the Boardwalk frame is thin looking. It's a matter of taste here. The Boardwalk is 9 speed ready ( 8 speeds comes with cassette type cogs) since it is already 8 speed and for that matter don't bother with the rear first. Start with the brakes system. Then if you want change to dual crank or triple crank depending on your needs. After that you end up with 16 or 24 speed already.

After that it's a matter of enthusiasm, like me can go a bit overboard. Hey! I love it. Nothings beats satisfaction right! rclxms.gif

Hi etigge, would you mind to tell me which bike shop can offer such price for Dahon, I stay at Sri Petaling and work at Shah Alam. Tq.

Come, bring me your bike. I will do it for you for RM250 plus all the servicing and greasing. Choose any color you desire.  tongue.gif I need 3 days to finish it.

Klang valley very hard to start bike shop lah! Everyone prefers nice looking shops like FB and Vans or GW Cycle even knowing that they cost one more arm and leg for the same thing. Moreover, beginners tend to lean to these shops thinking they are better.  blush.gif  80 percent of the business depends on beginners anyway.  I also seen another customer who took back a bike because the headset is loose and the shop can only say, " we don't know how to repair!!!  shocking.gif ". But they still flock to the shop because it's air conditioned. Hahahaha.

Ettige, with your experience and know how on folding bike, you can do customize biz. Custom make the bike according to customer requirement and favour. Enjoy and profitable. Beginner like me still haven't find the right folding bike. Still searching around. rclxub.gif

Made in Taiwan plus 25% discount for old model. 2014 model is coming and could be more expensive since our currency is so low. Future also can upgrade to 16 speed easily. tongue.gif .

can't really tell..

anyway, if the latch can't be pulled easily, it is ok,

a safety pin is like this, and u need to first release it, then only u can
pull the latch.
khs maybe use other mechanism ... ? if any...

the handle post, khs type don't need a safety, its smthing like a brompton's...

There have a small level need to pull before a pull the latch. Maybe this is the safety lo. Still need time to explore this bike. Perhaps, I will ride for a while later.

Hi all, can we use the gas station pump for our tire? My tire size is 20"/ 1.35. If we can, then how much pressure we can load in for comfortable ride.

if the valve like ur car tyre valve, yes can.
on the bike tyre got max pressure stated..
dun try to pam more than that...
u slowly adjust by releasing the pressure til u feel right... not too hard not too soft..
if u don't have a pressure gauge a bit susah to check the pressure...
petrol pam there the meter always lari wan....  biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info. My tire tip should be same as car tyre. My dual cylinder paddle pump just leak when I tried to load more pressure. Maybe need to buy a new pump.

Just bought a soft saddle and pump for my bike. The stock KHS saddle is quite hard and make my buttock pain after 20 minutes ride. Hope this will help to reduce the pain since so many years stop cycling already.

Yes, the KHS is chromoly steel which is more flexy than the more rigid aluminium. It absorbs bumps better, yes! Drawback is it will rust if not taken care well. Well, rust also it will last many years.

I riding my KHS bike everyday for 30 mins. So far, nothing abnormal happen (touch wood!!). I just own this bike for 2 weeks only. tongue.gif

The correct seat height will determine whether you are cycling efficiently or not.  Too low or too high and there is a loss of potential energy that can be translated into forward motion.  End up, you exert more energy than is required to travel a particular distance.

Here is a tip on the correct seat height.

And this optimal height this could mean that your feet may not be easily touch the ground when you are going to stop the bike.

For me, I will sort of jump off the bike when I stop, or get off my seat and put two feet on the ground

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U12rBydlxeI
*
That is really correct. I still adjust the correct height little by little since I just start back cycling. Initially not so high as I want my feet to step easily on ground when I stop. But when I cycle uphill my leg will get tire very fast as I pedal hard and waste of energy. On flat terrain really cannot feel so much different. biggrin.gif

I thinking of get one cateye front and a laser beam rear light. Don't whether in the market got a lot replica or not? Price different a lot on same model on BBS. Cateye brightness may not as bright as HID like those cree led light. But should be more comfortable and battery is standard type.
