QUOTE(kkm @ Aug 22 2013, 02:40 PM) Ok, to the many sifus here, I've been looking around at getting a foldie, I'm not really a serious biker, so more for fresh air and exercise. I've been to a few shops, and looked at the availability of different models at or under my budget of slightly over rm1k. I'm now looking at either something basic like the Tern c7, or better spec bikes like the Hasa F1 or the Java Fit or even the XDS AFB320. Van's currently doing a promo on the c7, so quite attractive, but if I were to ever get better, would need to spend on upgrades. I have read a lot on the Tern c7. Anybody have comments or opinions to share on the other bikes mentioned above? Would really be helpful... Like Sam say.... Any functional bike is good. Get urself fit, cos ur bike will be as good as the rider....hahahaha

QUOTE(samosaurus @ Aug 22 2013, 02:51 PM) It's hard to purchase a good bike at your preferred budget. Even the Tern Link C7 is sold at RM1.4K, (I believe that Van cycles has some freebies thrown-in at that price). For that price, you can also consider the Dahon Boardwalk D7, a proven bike with a decent component package... XDS bikes are quite pricey considering the fact that they give lower-grade components. Another bike that you can consider is the Dahon Vybe (7-speed under RM1K). Sam Buy like my 1 better la... got the look... hahahahahah

QUOTE(butthead @ Aug 22 2013, 10:50 PM) no lar... jus years of turning in roundabouts only... in theory, yes... it is good to know what you want so your goals are clear.. but in actual fact, it is easier said than done when differencing opinions from multiple parties make life ever more confusing... there is no guide book to getting the right bike and more money definitely does not mean the right bike...as with everything in life.. needs a bit of experimenting, failure, persistence to get to that point of so called self satisfaction for most of the bike geeks...sometimes, more often disappointment than pleasure in doing so... so, the only advice i can tell people is.. always treat your first bike as an experiment...don't be sour because it does not turn up the way you expect it to... it is the vessel to where you find your footing in cycling.. All Newbie, This is Old Bird Advice "must listen" Cos its very true. U never try U never know What actually suit U.

QUOTE(adriankhoo153 @ Aug 23 2013, 12:06 PM) U will definitely love BA if u like to go light of road. It really absorb vibration and uneven road nicely. But if u were using stock tyre like 1.5 and below maybe will feel heavier. But if stock Kenda 1.75, it will be lighter even on BA 2.0. Not to mention smoother rolling due to low rolling resistant. Overall my bike getting better ride also thanks to Jonny who service my bike and brakes. He was shock that I can even ride with an untune brakes. Lol. He said the shop that I bought this bike should have at least tune the brake. Not no more mushy feel on the brakes anymore. Any the thud thud sound I earlier had also settled by him. The sound was due to over tightening the bearing. what is the saiz of ur Big Apple? n its really lighter then ur Kenda 20x1.75?

QUOTE(budgee @ Sep 3 2013, 10:23 AM) Use my bike and park at the LRT. Metal is quite rusty as its a bike bought in year 2000. handlebars also rusty.. have been biking to LRT for more than a month now, so saved quite a bit on parking and petrol... I use a motorcycle lock but still I hope no one steals it. When I do cycle to work, I use a lighter bike and park it under a table. But only on days I feel fit as its about 13 to 15 km each way, and if the weather is good.
