Raleigh makes strong frames but their marketing strategy is to sell it cheap so their component is lower grade and it's only 7 speed. It's selling for RM750 but if you add in another RM600 to upgrade to 10 speed, it's enough for some hill rides.

ok you got my attention. How do we go about it?

A set of SRAM X5 shifters, X5 cassette (11T/36T super big), X5 RD and 1031 chain , I can get for RM550 here nearby my place. For RM50 I install it for you. Done! I know the long cage RD can be used because Vector P20 uses the same and my Vigor  is also modded withe the same. Maybe, your rear hubs needs to be changed and I have the exact suitable one, for that  minimal RM60. But before that, you can try out my Vigor using the 10 speed and see if there's a difference.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Will a bigger cassette fits into the rear tyre space?

***********update 8.47am*****************

i am tempted, told my wife abt this, she said i'm crazy to do that, laugh.gif she'd rather have me buy a cheapo MTB as 2nd bike if i wanted more gears to pedal on. sweat.gif

nooooooooo.. stick to 7 speed... feel the sourness on the muscle while riding uphill.. after that you will feel awesome!  thumbup.gif calories burned kaw kaw  cool2.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxm9.gif

heh... u dono how i felt last nite when i cycled about 4km with her... on a flat road, i am at max 7th gear and pedalling furiously. she easily overtakes me on her 16th gear while on less than half cadence of what i was doing and then left me about a hundred metres before stopping to wait for me at the traffic light... so relaxed yet faster!

this morning she pijak kaw me saying "it's not the gearing dear, it's your leg power..." aiyak kena one tight slap liao... hahah.

That's the technical aspect of it. The other aspect, just enjoy the ride lah. For a foldie, cannot finish, fold and call a taxi. That's the advantage of folding bikes.  thumbup.gif
*
very technical indeed rclxub.gif

but well one thing that i didnt know is about the starting 14T compared to 11T for others. aiyaa... no wonder i am so slow even on the highest gear... anyway bike sudah beli, kasi ride dulu lah... must train my leg strength and stamina first.

foldie help me to cycle uphill easier than mtb.. previously struggling finish one loop relau-bukit jambul (via vistana)- relau with mtb but it was much more easier with foldie.
*
dono about you, but sometimes i do wish that my foldie comes with at least suspended fork. whenever we ride on the road sides or kerbs, they're literally strewn with plenty of rubbish and stones and the roads are uneven or cracked. damn i hate riding on that kind of surface.

There are a few full suspension folding bikes. Dahon Jetstream is one, Pacific IF Reach ia another and so are some Airnimal models. I have actually been looking for RST Capa 10 forks for 20 inch wheels. It's available in the internet but hard to find here. I wanted to mod it and change my fork on my Dahon Speed. Maybe I will get my hands on one in future.  icon_rolleyes.gif

My front one only 48t. Stock 8 speed only. During practise nearby my house I also use the 11T but cannot pedal high cadence. every 100 metre got big bump. Hmm, need to practice more. Need to train hard. blink.gif

Last week went and pump air for my wife's java fit tyres. Noticed the remark on the tyre profile that stated min 88psi air pressure. i was like, "whaddefakk!?" is it that crazy high?

strangely my Ugo's fatter tyre indicated min 28psi. so are my moped (kapchai) even my Kawasaki Versys rear tyre takes 37psi ONLY. how can a skinny 20" tyre takes 88psi?? just to be safe i pumped in 55psi.

or should i follow the indicator and pump 88psi?

andrewhtf normal. mine is PSI 100.

wah.... that's pretty sick. kinda worried though... even with car i pump 35psi only.... small thin bicycle tyres go 88psi, i wonder who it takes that much of a pressure.

anyway ok i will try put 88 psi the next time i go pump.

QUOTE(ozzy79 @ Feb 11 2014, 10:02 AM)
what is everyone's take on the 'skater' type helmets from Bern, Nutcase, etc. How comfortable are they compared to normal cycling helmets, and more importantly are they less safe? As currently i dont see myself cycling at high speeds or long distances on highways, i would prefer the skater helmets as (ironically) would make me look less like a cyclist, especially as i have NO intention whatsoever to wear a tight lycra shirt. Ever.
*
a helmet is a helmet is a helmet.

personally being a biker myself, i have no confidence at all that cyclist helmet offers much protection, if any, as compared to a motorcycle helmet that covers more area of the head. cyclist helmet only covers the top of head and left the back and sides of the head very much exposed.

nonetheless it would be a no-brainer to wear motorcycle helmet in our hot msian weather for a movement intensive activity that will surely generate lotsa heat and sweat, so this is a compromise i have to take.

Trinx was in my watch list before. but as etigge advised, give so much spec for a cheap price, quality is a suspect. so did you bought this? what is your opinion of this foldie?

But i only know im in love with javafit design the moment i saw it regardless
I would love to own a folding bike but once owned , i dont think i would want to sell it UNLESS im so hardcore by then that i would want to upgrade lol

As for now , im clueless on cycling  cool2.gif
