Let's compare them side by side. I didn't say it's more solid because of the weight (as said by H2D. He's been lurking in the shadows stabbing at everyone  sweat.gif ). Look at the design. The Speedgear is actually a choosen frame from mass producing China open market and then shodded with the most profitable components and sold it as a specialized brand here. Just like Pedalsport who imports a frame they choose and then named it Geometric but it is never their own design nor their actual product. The frames are just randomly choosen just to make cost to stay low. Raleigh Ugo, on the other hand is a brand they created and have been promoting. They are an actual bike company!

The components itself says, and the disc brake ( branded Zoom and Xinjiang brake levers are nothing to shout about ). At least Raleigh, although not a premium brand nowadays, it's proven as demonstrated by Adrian. rclxms.gif  The prove is in the testing though. I feel the Raleigh's frame is worth the extra RM100 paid.

PS/ Also I noticed the Raleigh has a double walled rim as opposed to the single layered one in Speedgear.

Thanks guys for the information. Last question...can Raleigh Ugo be changed to Disc Brakes?
*
Why would u wan to change to disc brake? Dun think u can change as there isn't much clearance. Not too sure though.
Tektro not good enough?
If u wan better braking then jes change to Avid brake which is also a V-brake.

Sure or not ?I know a lot famous brand with made in taiwan sticker, but frame made in china n ship over to taiwan for installation n  called made in taiwan
*
This is what I heard from the supplier. But still it could be made from china or Taiwan.
Anyway, I dun see any different if made in china or Taiwan. Even Iphone 5s made in china.
How complicated is 6 line geometry that cant be made in china kan?
The problem lies in the company on how strict their quanlity control is.
Jes my 2 cent.

Yah that why I ask, cause I saw some one comparing it n mention china tak boleh pakai .
*
For me if the brand it quite well known, no matter made in where also should have tighter quality control.
If china mali with unknown china brand, then I will refrain from getting it where they might throw quality out from the window.

Raleigh no longer made in UK.. they mass produce in taiwan or china..

So far, only Brompton is made in UK and they wont be sending to china or taiwan for mass production..
*
Brompton handmade in UK hence expensive. But I see no point of buying a Brompton here except for the compactness and for collectors.
