Hi all, this is my 1st post in this thread..really appreciate if somebody can give me some guide regarding plate registration.
I'm planning to buy my 1st car & want to use the number plate belong to one of my father old car. That car roadtax already dead about a year ago & my father no longer using it. Can it be transfer? or need to renew first before proceed to interchange?
Thanks..
*
You need to send your father's old car to Puspakom for inspection.
Therefore, you need to make sure that car is in working condition and you need to have a valid roadtax/insurance to drive it on the road.

If cannot pass Puspakom inspection, how to transfer?

Let's say I have a special number I want to buy...so i can buy it from MYSKIKAP online without going to jpj.

Should I buy the number plate first only buy my new car? Will there be extra charge if I already got my new car with a existing number plate, then change it to the number i want?

which is cheaper?
*
It is better to put the number onto a new car (unregistered car).
If the "new" car already got a number plate, then you have to go through the "interchange" process.
Transfer the number out to another vehicle and put your new number onto the car.

Thanks for your advise!

So when is the latest time to pass the new number plate receipt to the SA so that he can register it for my new car?

When I pay the booking fees for the car or when I pay the downpayment for the car?

I have not bought the car yet... icon_question.gif
*
When you pay the downpayment you can inform the SA that you have purchased a nice number for your car. Once the loan is approved and the car is available, then only they can register the number for the car.

You bought the number from JPJ only. Not yet register to the new car. Do you have the paper work to register the new car? Do you have the new car chassis number and engine number?
The salesman has to submit all those paper work to JPJ to register the new car to your name. If you have bought a number, please pass that receipt to your salesman to register that number to your new car.
You paid the company the registration fee, the salesman has to do the registration for your new car.

So normally when we buy a new car (with the registration fee included), this does not include buying the number from JPJ?
*
Correct. Does not include buying the number.
They just register a running number.

even if my number costs RM210?
*
If you have bought a number, he/she will register your number on the new car.
They charged you for registering your new car regardless you bought a number or from the running number.

Usually tender how much can get those ABBA plate?
Is 5775 good plate?
Rm3300 worth the price for this plate?
Still thinking about it scare kena con by those runner
*
Very difficult to say how much this number worth.
If you are unlucky, there is another car owner wants this same number, he will tender high price for it so that he can get the number.
If you are lucky, nobody tender for it, and you try your bid at RM250, you might get it.
So, it depends on the timing..

Is 5775 good plate?
It depends on the individual. If you are born on 5 July 1975, you may go for this number.
Or someone married on 5 July 1975, he might get this number for his car and his wife's car.

If this number has no significant to you, you might look at other combinations.
3223, 8228, 8118 etc.

ABBA numbers are cheaper than AABB and ABAB.

For me, this number no big deal n not worth the price. If u say 3883 or 8338 or 3838 then ok..

I dont think all ABBA series need to tender. For example, 6776 or 4554 need to tender? Don't think any fella wants it.. haha..

If u really like 5775, go get selangor or other states. I m sure can get for FOC, no need to tender.

For me 5775 just a regular number. I prefer 88xx or xx88 smile.gif
*
Of course not all ABBA have to go through the tender process.
Chinese won't want 3443 or 4334.
3443 = three die four alive
4334 = four alive three die

You can buy the number, but it has to be under your wife's name.
Give her a great surprise.

hi guys,

now i'm wondering if i buy Wilayah plate number, it need to register in KL or can be done in Selangor. Selangor means Padang Jawa. I'm afraid my SA will charge me more since i buy number by my own. He not receive runner fee for plate number so he might use this excuse.

Any help? Idea please how to reply to him if Padang Jawa can register Wilayah number icon_question.gif
*
When you buy your new car, the Registration Fee is in the price list.
Since you already paid that fee, they have to register the car for you.
Don't worry.

Nope.. that is standard registration only. If u request to buy a number or want to register another state number then they will charge additional for sure. Runner also need to earn for a living, as long as the charges is reasonable, then let them do the job.
*
I never pay a sen extra when I gave them the slip of my number.
And they never ask from me for registering KL number nor Selangor number.

i just want to clarify what if the SA mentioned need to pay extra because u using Wilayah number but register at Selangor. Padang Jawa near to KL. If KL Penang for sure need extra charge. Hope u can understand that.  smile.gif
*
Well, the SA always ask me, you want Selangor plate or KL plate.
I said I want KL plate and I want to tender a number. No problem.
After I got the number, I pass the slip to him to register the car.
BTW, I stay in Subang Jaya.

If you want Penang number, then I am not sure.

hi, my car plate number expired soon- end of this month. but according to sa i only can get car mid June, which is 2 weeks after the carplate expired. he say i have to extend it by myself..... how is the procedure? need to pay how much? or can i just keep it for 2 more weeks?
*
First of all get your SA or the manager to give you a letter stating that they can only deliver your new car to you in June. Bring that letter to JPJ to extend your tendered number. It is easier using that letter since it is not your fault for not registering the number on time.

May I know what's the reason behind people using company name to tender for number plates?

Most of the tender results that I've observed showed that most of them also used company to tender.

Kedai Runcit, Kedai Dobi, (unknown and unheard) enterprise tendering for single digits rclxub.gif
*
That one registered as company car.
Company expenses can be exempted from income tax.

Every JPJ has it when the tender results are out.

Yeah selangor plates are generally much cheaper.
*
Actually it depends whether you are desperate for that alphabets and numbers combination.
If you are desperate for it, you will tender higher for it so that you can get it.
