this is the 4th weeks of working in my company... i wonder what should i do?... should i stay or should i resign...

here it goes the story... i was been told in the interview that i'll be given a training on company system in order to understand the overall company system... but i was been fooled as they didn't even give me any training and expect me to know everything... vmad.gif ...

i already tried my best to do whatever i had been asked to do but sometimes really can't figure it out... somemore everyone keep rushing me... even though when i'm very busy, some of them still add burden to me by asking me to do this and that... i had been scolded by my boss few times because of this... cry.gif ...

the funniest thing is, i'm the only one who are in charge of IT department... nobody else... shouldn't the company hire another It staff?...

i recommended u to STAY!. maybe they wanted to train u this way.
*
mmm... no no... definitely no... this is not the way they train staff... my senior (now based in client side) told me this is the way the company torture people...

when i was here for the very first week, i'm kinda like this job... i really felt great that time... but as time goes by, i really realised what my senior said is true...

in the middle of nowhere... unsure.gif ...

QUOTE(vyruz @ May 24 2006, 10:32 AM)
I bet u must be working in typical "Chinaman" company.

Well, if you could take it, just stay and learn. So u r saying u r the only one in IT dept. Meaning that u have no one to turn to for question/help?  Learn it hard and manage properly, about a year or so, then you resign, I bet ur boss will treat u like god.

Good luck mate.
*
nope... not a chinaman company but western man company... apparently my friend is working here... he warned me the boss like to torture staff and asked me to think carefully before accepting the offer... sad.gif ...

ya, you are right... nobody i can ask for help but to learn it by myself... sometimes i'm really rclxub.gif ... i even told them that i'm new herer and i need time to figure it out but still they push me again and again... icon_question.gif ...

Anyway it does seem that you are in those "Chinapek company" as mentioned in another thread. Sigh curse these companies man.... I used to be in one myself and nearly gave my soul up. Luckily lady luck was on my side and now I am in a MNC. There is sooooooo much difference. As another forumer put it:-

Hehe i think a lot of ppl work with these kinda companies (with varying degrees of "pukima" as some one put it). <-- I support this satement 100%.

1) Do you see learning potential? If no then no point staying.

- Only if they give me chances...

2) How much are they paying you?

- 2.1K

3) Did they promised you any training during the interview?

- Ya, said i'll be undergoing training under my senior...

4) You didn't really said that you were fantastic in IT and gave him the impression that you could handle everything during the interview did you?

- No, i did not... Already stated in my resume that i'm a fresh grad...

Dreamer and Rexis,

the problem is even the boss doesn't believe me... i told him this is what the senior asked me to do to overcome the problem but he insisted in calling my senior to ask about it...

yes both of you are right about the having the eager to learn new things... this is what i expected... but how do i learn if i can't do any practical on it?... by reading the theory is not enough... 100% theory without practical = 0 ...

what i deal here is the overall company system... i couldn't do an experiment on the server which running a big business... what if the server crash because of me?... i couldn't bear the losses...

really in the middle of nowhere... now still exploring how to solve the problem for one of the director here... gosh... what can i do?... icon_question.gif ...

To survive in workplace, you need to learn a lot about the technical knowledge, process flows, and company systems either by time or by working really hard.

*
i'm the only IT staff in the company... cry.gif ... i'm already working real hard for it... everything is so organise but lack of knowledge... sad.gif ...

QUOTE(liquid_ooze @ May 25 2006, 10:01 AM)
shite!!! RM 2.1k for a fresh grad?

@lyk, please give me the contact no. / e-mail / address of this company u're working for, wanna apply there and help you out (we can be good friends yeah? smile.gif)

by the way, i'm not joking. i mean it rclxm9.gif
*
i would be really happy if this stingy boss wanna recruit people... but the fact is they only need one systems administrator... and that is me... sad.gif ... wonder why they don't recruit another one... one is not enough...

QUOTE(flamer @ May 25 2006, 10:50 AM)
Actually how good is ur senior by the way? Is he some expert in the field he is in? Does he know all the best pratices in his work? By the way I feel that you should only stay if the system you are maintaining is SAP, Oracle or SAS.

Does your senior come back to office on Saturdays and Sundays to maintain the system? Perhaps you can drop by one of these days, have a chat with him and understand your company system better when there is all peace and quietness.
*
how good is my senior?... not sure but as i know, he move on to SAP BASIS from systems administrator where i would have the chance as well...

my senior is based on client side... won't be back to office at the meantime... cry.gif ...

mmm... i deposited my resume at msc.com ystdy and today afternoon i received a call from Axis Systems for an interview... so, does anyone know about this company?... any opinion should i go for the interview?...

thanks for everyone who replied my thread... notworthy.gif ...

Lyk,

Why do you spend more time worry about what people think of you as opposed to spend more time on how to do your job???  For example, if you post a question on this forum, "I do not know X, where can I find information on X and learn about this", someone could have help you.  Ditto, there are many web site on Internet that can asnwer questions.

But, instead seeking help, you are just venting and whining.  How productive this is??

The truth is you do not know anything and so far you are just whining.

Dreamer

ha, do you really think i never search for info through internet rather than posting in this forum?... sad.gif ... i spent few days in exploring information through internet... i even posted my question in microsoft forum looking for an answer...

before seek for help i will try to look for an answer by myself... not just venting or whinning here...

I dont believe you didnt smile.gif

If you think boss distrust you and you wont get much advancement at this company, then time to plan for a move. Sometimes if the boss dun like you it means he dont like you, no matter what you do.

Actually when you start work, you shouldnt look at the salary as it wont get too far out there anyway. You should like at the experience and the future prospect.
*
thanks rexis... you had enlightened me up... notworthy.gif ... do you know about Axis Systems Company?...

QUOTE(Suet @ May 30 2006, 10:13 AM)
PROs of staying:
That kinda salary is good, who knows after training they will pay you more. WOW. And pal, your salary now is higher than me, one who has 5 years experience at what I do for a living. So sad lol but at least I enjoy my work. There's a saying: What Does NOT Kill You Will Make You Stronger! So stay on if you can take the pressure but learn to say no at time. wink.gif

PROs of leaving:
Can't take the stress? LEAVE! Put down your feet, march to your superior's office and kindly ask for a short meeting. Tell him honestly how you feel. If you can't cope, say so. Don't be afraid. You are only human. If he understands, he will do something about it. If he doesn't then it's hasta la vista, babeh. rclxms.gif

Good luck, pal!

my salary wont be revised till the end of the first year i work here... joined in May 2006... salary will be revised on April 2007... sad.gif ...

by the way, no training provided... sad.gif ...

Frustrated? Indeed, this is how IT life is, all those technical and mechanical things everybody expect you know. This is very stressful seriously. Imagin you are cracking head to figure out why the damn machine doesn't work, the staff standing beside popping out questions to you every 20 seconds..... or 10 staff surrounded you and each of them asking you to do things while you got 10 more to-do list in your personal queue... or your senior/boss saying something very alien to you and expect you to understand and want you to configure the thing immediately...  rclxub.gif

Seriously la, I think IT job is for superman. IT scope is almost EVERYTHING, you cannot be too specialised in one damn thing and concentrate on it. You must be willing to grab every shit into your brain and FAST.

Know what, i am seriously considering finding a kampung land to plant jagung... well, maybe i will head cracking for those pest eating up my jagung then...
*
sigh... what to do?...

yesterday received a call from HP and NEC for an interview... will try it out... smile.gif ...

if you really plant corn, do inform me... i will be your first customer... biggrin.gif ...
