Lyk,

I had worked 20 years in IT/Datacom/Telecom world. As far as I can remember, I always have too much to do, too little time to do it and I never know enough. So, what you are facing is highly normal in an IT world.

Learn to say no.

You are just a pawn. Why the hell you need to act like a big boss and take on all the responsibility?? You have a boss. Do not say yes or no. Just Tai Chi the decision to your boss. If someone ask you to do something, ask the person to talk to your boss first. Just say you are a pawn and you need to follow order. Ask your boss to prioritize the things that you should do. If he/she does not, then, you prioritze your own list. If someone want you to do something fast and drop what you are doing now, tell the person to talk to your boss. Let your boss make the decision. You have a boss. Use it. Let your boss be the bad guy. It is his/her job to make this kind of decision.

This is the kind of soft skill that a fresh grad need to learn fast.

Dreamer and Rexis,

the problem is even the boss doesn't believe me... i told him this is what the senior asked me to do to overcome the problem but he insisted in calling my senior to ask about it...

yes both of you are right about the having the eager to learn new things... this is what i expected... but how do i learn if i can't do any practical on it?... by reading the theory is not enough... 100% theory without practical = 0 ...

what i deal here is the overall company system... i couldn't do an experiment on the server which running a big business... what if the server crash because of me?... i couldn't bear the losses...

really in the middle of nowhere... now still exploring how to solve the problem for one of the director here... gosh... what can i do?...  icon_question.gif ...

Lyk,

You are not the boss. Do not take on the responsibility of being a boss. You tell your boss that you need a server to try out before implementing something. If your boss say it is okay to try out on the production server, then, you go ahead.. It is not your responsibility then. Let your boss make the tough decision. You can only propose and suggest alternative. It is up to your boss to make the decision.

IT IS NOT YOUR JOB!!!

Learn how to let your boss make the decision.

Lyk,

Why do you spend more time worry about what people think of you as opposed to spend more time on how to do your job??? For example, if you post a question on this forum, "I do not know X, where can I find information on X and learn about this", someone could have help you. Ditto, there are many web site on Internet that can asnwer questions.

But, instead seeking help, you are just venting and whining. How productive this is??

The truth is you do not know anything and so far you are just whining.
