i just done my MSc in Aviation Management in USM, i know, many don't even heard of this course before, i'm one of the first banch of MSc in Avaition Management for USM.

I had been looking for a job in aviation industry for months, long before i finish my thesis. i sent more than 10 times of my resume to MAS and AirAsia already, still never heard of them till now. now i'm starting to losing my faith, and start looking for other jobs in non-aviation field. i just dun understnad, isn't a MSc in Aviation Management shohuld be good for the airlines? especially in Malaysia, where we don't have any of the course offered yet (as far as i know) in the local university, i dun even have a chance to get an interview from the airlines. i totally agree with u guys when u said that the prospect of the aviation industry in malaysia is good (regardless of MAS' poor financial performance), but y dun they care abobut someone with an academic background in avaition like me? i published like 6 papers in diff conferences, i'm not bragging here, but that should be something rite?

i know academic result is not everything, but every fresh grad had been through this, and y can others can succesfully get a job in this field, while i dun even have a chance for an interview? cry.gif
if i was interviewed and rejected by them, then i wont say a word, its shows that i'm not up to their standard. but my fren who got below a 3.0 (actually i dun even sure if she was 2.0 above... ), she got an interview on tuesady, and start her work on thursday in a local airline T_T however, she told me she got some frens inside la.... still.... cry.gif

just wanna let go some of the flame ^^ feeling much better now

thanks for reading ^^

Airlines industry eh... dude you are in for some exciting times and rough times. ...the industry sucks..airfares are constantly under downward pressure. airlines are competing for superior customer service, good routing, good departure & arrival times, at the same time battling increasing fuel cost, labour cost, IT cost. mass comm, public image...
Dude try southern neighbour , HKG, Middle east ...DXB, AUH, MCT, BAH ...really desperate ..game to start from scratch...pax agent RM 800p.m. 24 hrs rotating shifts...othrwise MH & SQ every few years they may take in management trainees...can wait ka? or check out the net try airlines website ..FX ,SQ,QR,EK, GF ,CX...latest M'east carrier Ithihad something like that.....enjoy..

i did. in fact, one of my chapter is an analysis of the latest MAS' restructure plan ^^ and i did not only apply for these two, i applied more than 50 airlines over the world, US, Europe, Aus, Singapore, Thailand, Middle East.... none of them respond.

MAS is in BIG prolem.
the company cannot even handle their staff. (i know cos i'm working with MAS).

due to MAS economy crisis, MAS DO NOT employ new people except aircraft maintenance engineers (which is in high demand for every airlines).

only enginnering and maintenance division department needs to hire new worker.
for the rest, MAS just "throw" away cos too many people already.

All the best, pal!

There one friend's friend, he went for an interview, and all the other interview candidates have same qualification like him. The company take him, all because that the boss like to play cricket, and the friend's friend is a high school cricket team player.

Sometimes, qualification is not the most important factor. Keep trying!

hi aeronyc,

ur course is good but i think the companies prefer ppl with airlines background who knows the stuff. these ppl are usually senior aircraft engineer and most of them got license with degree, master even phd. u can try to get into maintenance but u wont be treated worthy of ur MSc.

just my suggestion, if nothing coming ur way, try apply for unikl-miat in sepang for lecturer. it's a school for aircraft maintenance n probably u could earn a licence in some way there. then u could jump off to real airlines. it could take u 4-5 yrs to get licence tho. good luck.
