people were saying cota is bad now for exp.

i was getting 2.015 billion experience every 45minutes (this is roughly the amount to level up for me)

You do a few snake runs or something over the same duration and compare, then decide for yourself

Still okie for me as I always run act 3 from start till finish or at least Heart of Sin then taking a break (act 1 and 2 too).

If you happen to have a guy in your party equip with that bracer that turns every shrines into a curse (spawn elites) then luck is on your side.

someone told me act 2 snake runs was like 1.8 b exp for the same duration. not sure how accurate that is, but i think generally speaking,

1. if you are not so well geared
2. a noobie
3. can't get a good group who knows what they are doing to do cota properly,

then your better off doing snakes in act 2 for the quest called a royal audience......

It only makes sense to do cota if you can do it efficiently with a will experienced and geared crew. Also the downside is it's much tiring than snakes, because of the elite factor you need to avoid .... (arcanes, poison, blizzard etc etc...)

For a noobie with nonexistent gear, what would be the best class to gear up and get good XP?

ahmadz in the lowyat d3 clan showed me the core of arreat demonic chests run in act 3.

I think you need 100-200 or more magic find to make it be more consistent in dropping legendaries.


But i'm not sure whether they nerfed that already or not


Some other people were saying rumford at the gates, to kill the mothers in act 1 has a high legendary drop rate if repeated.

Another theory is farming in whimsy shire.



For undergeared do it at Torment level 1.



Blue posts say

1. set gear only drops in torment level
2. higher torment level has higher chance for legendary drops *but they don't disclose the actual drop rates
3. certain legendaries only drop on higher torment levels (e.g. it's possible only the really good stuff drops in t6 .....if what they say is true)

*another tip, try do these farms in a group. So even if your dps sux, other people can carry you. do this with either clan mates, friends, or in public games.



LV 60 gear will suck compared to lv 70, but you still need some decent lv 60 to progress and level to lv 70 and to make it easier to farm for gear. So having good gear prior to ros will help you achieve your goals that much faster.

I already bought a 3 piece cain set for my crusader to power level as an example.

wow i read on diablofans, a blue posted that diablo will 100% drop a legendary on ROS LAUNCH !!!

So i got 9 characters on normal all lv 60, so i'm going to kill diablo with all 9 of them on launch date the first thing.

After that, then i will start playing as a crusader.

Sure i could play as barb and complete the game sooner, but frankly i'm more interested as playing as a crusader as my main from ros now onwards :}

Diablo 100% leg drop is available now but need to reset quest.
upon ros launch malthael will have 100% leg drop not diablo.

crusader gonna b ma main too dats y i have been playing more barb now just to accumulate more strength base legs

What's cota run? Mind to explain to me? haha been off Diablo for a year already. Outdated

cota runs is the talk to alaric quest in act 1.

he sends you off to find some quest item in 2 locations, one of which is located in cota, a very small cavern with pit that has skeleton summoners and minions, and an elite.

you just mow them down, have the leader teleport to base and exit (preferaly they should use the teleport shoulder pads to tp out faster without interruptions). This boots the entire team out of the game.

For quick resume, all 4 players must have a solid state hard drive, or else it disbands the entire team, which is kinda annoying, and makes remaking slower.

doing this repeatedly, from my own testing, you can get 2.015 Billion Experience points over 45 minutes (for me to level up around lv 500 + paragorn)


To put this into perspective, the crypt runs prior to loot 2.0 where people stacked creeps, only gave something like 30 million ISH exp per hour ...... so now you understand just how good cota 2.0 with the community 100% experience bonus is


PS: in a recent hotfix, blizzard has reduced the exp gain by swarming mobs (including mobs in cota obviously), from giving too much exp.

Even with that, cota is still one of the best exp farming spots. But once ros is released and the 100% community event exp bonus is gone, i doubt it will be good anymore :{

OK if your group does decent DPS... Yes it's a better run compared COTA.

RA is another good and fast leveling run.

Want to check, so what time for D3: RoS that playing on Americas server go live for our time ?

My calculation is 25th 12:00 PM MYT.

that means tomorrow afternoon Malaysia time, gonna turn on my bnet launcher when i wake up in the morning.
